CYoung is a Korean makeup artist and skincare educator who tests products on real clients in her classes. Many of the people who sit in her chair have genuinely reactive skin. When a product earns her approval, it has already proved itself on skin that is truly hard to please, not just her own. For her, what an ingredient can actually deliver and what clients feel on their skin matter far more than viral popularity.
What does CYoung recommend for sensitive skin?
The ingredients she keeps coming back to are the ones doing real barrier-repair work. Those are ceramides, panthenol, and madecassoside. Ceramides are natural fats that hold the skin barrier together. Panthenol is a form of B5 that helps skin hold on to moisture. Madecassoside is a centella compound that calms irritation and supports healing. Proof on real people matters as much to her as the ingredient list. Mixsoon Bean Cream earned her number-one spot out of sixteen moisturizers she tested. One reason was her own sister, who has very sensitive skin and had never finished another product CYoung gave her. This time she used the whole jar. She named six category winners in total, including Manyo Factory Pure Cleansing Oil, Rhode Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence, and Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50.
In their words
"The one on the right is famous for a lot of reviews on Amazon, but my holy grail is the one on the left, both are from Illiyoon, the same brand. If your skin is too dry no matter what you wear, trust me and try it. It's a large size so I use it for a long time, you can use it for the whole family, and I even use it on my face when it gets so sensitive."
"This was my holy grail for a pretty long time. It contains both panthenol and madecassoside. Some of my guests say they're so sensitive they can't even use Aestura, but this one is okay even if you have super sensitive skin. The texture is similar but it doesn't have capsules, it's a little bit heavy. They also have an Extreme Cream Light version, which is better if you have oily or acne prone skin."
"Dr. Jart is a premium BB cream, and I'm actually using this a lot at my classes because compared to all the other BB creams here, it's one of the most moisturizing and it doesn't show up wrinkles that much. If I have a guest coming who's in their fifties or sixties with more pigmentation, I mix in a little foundation, because the color alone looks a little pinkish gray, like sweet potato, which doesn't look that good on my warm skin. But mixed with foundation the coverage goes way higher and the texture is amazing. It's a little pricey, around forty eight dollars, but I think dry mature skin women over fifty should please try it. I've used it so many times, so I'm giving this one an S."
"This is my second one of these and I think it works even better than the first. My sister has really sensitive skin and everything else I gave her she never finished because it did not agree with her skin, but she actually finished this one, which tells me it works well even for sensitive skin. It comes in a jar, it is not too heavy, it feels like something between a lotion and a cream, and if you apply a little more it also works well for dry skin. It feels like more of an all rounder. It has a very good hydration level and works well even for very sensitive, very dry skin. Overall, this got the number one spot out of all sixteen moisturizers I tested."
"The number one cleanser here in Korea is definitely the Manyo cleansing oil, I use multiple bottles of it and it cleanses so well. The one downside is that compared to the Anua oil the texture is a bit heavier, so if you're new to cleansing oils it can feel too heavy, but if you wear heavy makeup and want something that really works, Manyo is the answer."
"It's not a bad product, I picked this one because even though it has an earthy mugwort scent, it doesn't matter because it feels so cool on the skin. I can feel my skin loves it so much. They're doing an amazing job."

What has CYoung skipped for sensitive skin?
Most of what she skipped were products that had gone viral. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser was huge on TikTok but too mild to remove sunscreen or makeup. She called it the most disappointing cleanser in the whole batch. Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser got a similar pass, cleansing poorly at too high a price. Dr.Althea 147 Barrier Cream she rated a C. Its heavy texture did not deliver the barrier repair the formula suggested.
"This is a very mild, low pH cleanser, it contains ingredients to help moisturize and calm your skin, however it doesn't cleanse as well, I don't think it will erase sunscreen, it only removes sweat or dirt from outside so you can only use it as a second cleanser or as a morning cleanser. It has a scent, and it's very thick so you have to squeeze it too hard. I bought this because it was all over TikTok, it was even hard to buy because of that. It's a really transparent light gel, very light formulation, colorless and odorless. This is the most disappointing cleanser because it doesn't cleanse anything, it feels just like a feminine cleanser, it's so mild you can't actually cleanse with it."
"I expected a lot from this because I see it everywhere selling like crazy on Amazon, but how could you even call this a toner? It's not even moisturizing, it's not even a proper Milky Toner, and it's not even hydrating."
"Comparing to the other one, the other two makeup artists also don't like this much because it's a lot heavier since they put more ingredients in for restoring the barrier, and I agree with that. When you want to restore the barrier because your skin is really damaged, you have to look for something more like Panthenol or an ointment style cream, like La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 or Reair Barrier. This one has a heavier texture, but I don't see the effect, so I would say this is a C."
"I see so many positive reviews for this on Amazon, but it's a gel so it makes too little foam, it doesn't really cleanse that well, it just smells good. This can't really appeal to Koreans. Compared to other brands they do a lot of promotion, but it's pretty expensive, and this brand isn't going so well in Korea. It's a little too expensive and I don't find any good reason to use this."
What should you take from CYoung's picks?
CYoung is most useful when you want a pick already tested on people with genuinely reactive skin, not just skin that gets a little red sometimes. She approves products with real barrier-repair ingredients and skips the ones that look good on a TikTok feed but fall short in actual use. Her six named category winners, among them Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream and Mixsoon Bean Cream, are a solid shortlist for anyone building a sensitive-skin routine.
