"I grew to love this sunscreen. I was a naysayer of their original sunscreen, I didn't love it from the first time I tried it, but I grew to like it and enjoy it. This one's geared more towards dry skin and it feels nice on my skin. I didn't have any issues using it in Europe with no issues with sunburn, redness or freckling. For what this promises, they promise a more hydrated version that protects all skin type users from strong UV rays, enhances skin's moisture barrier, offers instant calming effect for irritated and dry skin, gently nourishes skin and promotes a healthy looking and plump complexion leaving a refreshing finish without any white cast or sticky feeling. The ingredients in this product back up those claims. It's got skin identical ingredients, soothing ingredients, skin protecting ingredients, antioxidants, vitamin E and ferulic acid. I tend to agree with most of these promises and I'm overall impressed with this. Even with my drier skin I find this to be nicely hydrating and it tends to work really well on my skin."

"I haven't had any issue with sensitivity in terms of my eye area in terms of redness or watering. Yesterday I didn't have any eye issues in terms of sensitivity and towards the end of the day it didn't end up looking shiny or anything so it was actually pretty nice. It's got two L'Oreal filters in there and in terms of UV filter I'm pretty confident in these ingredients. In terms of feel yesterday and things like that it felt really nice the beginning of the day and at the end of the day. It is more hydrating and throughout the day it ends up looking a little bit more shiny, but using it all day was fun, it was nice, felt good, it worked well under makeup and worked well over my serums. It's 18 bucks so it's pretty friendly for most skin types. The filters in here look good and I have a feeling this has pretty good UVA protection, probably better than almost any American sunscreen. These filters are going to be much better so I'm impressed with it, I'm happy with it, it feels nice on my skin."

The K beauty version has fragrance free and alcohol-free. It's got UVL T150, Mexoryl XL, Mexoryl SX, Avobenzone, and Tinosorb. It's also got rice extract, oat kernel, vitamin E, and ferulic acid. It's really nice. I've probably repurchased this now three times. I used to test a lot more sunscreens and now I just find ones I like and they're just so reliable and easy to use and easy to fit under makeup. I haven't got burned using them. "It's got a really nice serum gel texture though which I really like, so it's not too watery and it's not too thick but it's got a nice texture where just a little bit goes a super long way. I will say, if you use a lot of thicker sunscreens, I did notice that one of the sunscreens I used it over did pill a bit. It might not actually have anything to do with this, it could be the sunscreen or my moisturizer, but I just thought I'd mention that. Once it soaks in it sets to a radiant finish that is just slightly tacky. For beneficial ingredients, it's got a pretty short ingredient list. We've got polyglutamic acid which is a great hydrating ingredient, it's also film forming so it forms a little bit of a film which seals in moisture so prevents transepidermal water loss. We've got squalane which is a pollution and light protection ingredient, also soothing and repairing. We've got hibiscus extract which is a plant with hydration and antioxidant benefits, arbutin which is a sugar-derived humectant, and then vitamin E which is an antioxidant."

"So this one came out and I didn't even look at the ingredients list, I just ordered it, and my first test of it, it had fragrance in it, so I was a little bit disappointed by that, but everything else about it is nice. Apparently they're coming out with a fragrance free formula. They say this nourishing serum features SPF 50 plus PA plus plus plus to protect skin against harmful UV rays, infused with ginseng extract, the anti aging formula enhances skin elasticity and keeps skin hydrated, formulated with two percent niacinamide to brighten skin for a glowing appearance, and a lightweight texture that melts onto the skin without a sticky after feel. My first criteria on this one is packaging, it's just a pump bottle, very nice, although I really like a good old fashioned squeeze tube, that works too. In terms of denatured or drying types of alcohol, it does contain alcohol, it's the sixth ingredient, and apparently that's why they included the fragrance, to cover up the smell of the alcohol, which I'd rather they didn't. Alcohol really doesn't have much smell, I mean it has an initial smell but it goes away within seconds, and I'm starting to get over alcohol in sunscreens, because it does help sunscreens set better and feel less greasy."

They've added panthenol to the original formula, so it's the same excellent SPF 50 protection with PA+++ for UVA coverage, and the panthenol is provitamin B5 that converts to pantothenic acid in the skin, so it's soothing and helps with barrier repair for melanin rich skin managing active hyperpigmentation, reducing the inflammation that triggers more pigmentation. It gives me a hydrated glow finish and the texture applies so easily. Honestly, if I had to choose between both of these, for melanin rich skin specifically, I'd lean towards the Aquaresh because the panthenol edition is so good for our skin, it's such an upgrade with an excellent formula. "This is my number one pick from Beauty of Joseon, their popular sunscreen. Both the original and the new version are chemical sunscreens, and if you're sensitive, some reviewers say their eyes get itchy. It's so lightweight that even if you layer it several times it doesn't peel and it absorbs well, and it's glowy after application, but it doesn't last long. You need to use a cleansing oil to remove it because it's water resistant, so it's hard to wash off with a cleansing foam. As a dry skin type, I love it and it's great under makeup. I highly recommend it if you have oily or combo skin, or if you live somewhere tropical, because the older version feels more oily while the newer one has a more watery, fresh texture. "This was like a TikTok viral, I bought it probably last year. It's a viral favorite for its moisturizer-like texture but it does leave you with a little bit of a natural dewy finish. It provides really high broad spectrum protection. It is SPF 50 plus and PA++++ but it's really lightweight. It's not sticky. If you're somebody who wears makeup, I think it's perfect under makeup because it will hydrate. So if you have tiny little fine lines, like especially like I do around the eyes, it will hydrate. So when you put makeup on top those lines won't be as visible. The sunscreen is really good to calm and hydrate skin while supporting the moisture barrier. It's really best for that dry combination or maybe even like sensitive skin. The key ingredients are the niacinamide, green tea extract, rice bran extract, and probiotics."

"The new version is garbage, absolute garbage. It's a range of tinted mineral sunscreens and initially it looked quite promising. I like the fact that they had multiple different tint shades so no matter what your skin tone there should be an option that you can make work for you. I like the fact that they'd put some thought behind the formulation and other beneficial skincare ingredients and I think it looked promising. Most of the reviews though have been very subpar and my own experience with it is it just balled up and peeled on the skin so bad you couldn't lay it on top to get more coverage, you couldn't reapply it, it just didn't sit right. And the tint is so sheer it might as well not exist. The tint is so sheer it might as well not exist and yet somehow it still manages to be a little bit ashy and a bit white casty on the skin. Not a good product."

"If you're watching this from the US, the formulation on this one isn't great because of outdated regulations around sunscreens in the US. The US has a different formulation. "It's so, so light, and the brand has disclosed that they've used essential oils to help mask some of the raw skincare smell and some of the essence of the alcohol, just kind of creating more of a neutral scent overall, so it's not playing a heavy part in the experience of the sunscreen. The texture is a really unique gel type of texture, there's no cream or lotion involved here, this is a true straight gel texture, what you see is what you get. It spreads really evenly and beautifully and thinly across the skin. We've got a good dry time here because the denatured alcohol is really helping that process along quite well. It feels so light, so breathable, it is really remarkable how refreshing this feels on the skin. The finish I'd describe as sort of satin, but I think on certain skin types it's actually going to look a lot more dewy, maybe even a little bit more wet. My initial review was really noticing that this was more like I said, satiny, maybe a little bit dewy, but as I've played with this sunscreen a little bit more and taken in more feedback from different skin types, especially oily folks, I am finding that this is actually a lot more shiny than it first seemed in my initial testing. I also had a co-tester on this product who had more normal skin type and it didn't really show up for them, but it definitely does have a little bit more gloss to it."

"I put it on the back of my hand right away and I was like wow this feels so fresh. It feels so lightweight. It's definitely matte. I was like this feels great, I love this. Then I started looking into the ingredients and I noticed the silica. Silica is an ingredient that is used in sunscreens to take down some of the shine, it's oil controlling, it can create a mattifying effect on the skin. I think it's fantastic. I have used it in sunscreens with good success. I do have combination skin, it can get quite oily in the T-zone and I can get extremely dry in my cheek zone, and I can suffer with dehydration too. Even though I do produce oil on my skin, I usually do not find success with products that control the oil."

"This offers SPF 50+ PA++++ protection using four all new generation chemical filters. This is a great sunscreen that I have been loving since 2021 since it came out. Here with Beauty of Joseon they're actually using more of a medium moisturizing cream texture. It actually feels really good on the skin. It spreads really beautifully, a little creamy silky. It offers a nice kiss of moisture for the skin. A lot of folks actually like to use this in place of their moisturizer kind of skipping out on a few steps and saving some time and money. "It's SPF 50+ PA++++, it's a chemical sunscreen, and I think it offers really good protection. It's a sunscreen that feels really moisturizing. For folks who like to replace their moisturizer with their sunscreen, this is a really good one for that because it does offer a good amount of creamy moisture to the skin, and it can actually save a lot of time in the morning. I personally love it in the winter time because of that creamy moisture. I need every ounce of moisture that I can get on my skin, and our winters are really harsh. This is one of my favorite sunscreens for winter time. It has a really nice finish to it, it's not too shiny but just a little bit dewy. It works well underneath makeup for me, and I don't detect a white cast really on my skin until I layer this up two to three times."

"I do respect this sunscreen, but I cannot use it. I think it's definitely something that's going to work if you have an oily skin type, especially because there's no emolliency here, there's no wetness to it, there's no moisturization or shininess to it, so that gel texture is going to be a great match for your skin. Even combination folks are going to like this neutral finish. "I have already raved about the Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics so many times but I'm going to quickly run through it in case for those of you who are new to Beauty of Joseon. This is possibly the most raved about sunscreen online at the moment and it is my favorite sunscreen that I've tried so far. It is a Korean sunscreen that's not approved in other countries as far as I know. It is pretty lightweight but on the more moisturizing side which I have personally really appreciated. My skin is sort of oily combination but it has been drying out a bit because I've been using a lot more retinoids which are a bit drying and I've also had some hormonal changes thanks to dealing with endometriosis. The texture is really beautifully smooth and buttery. It's made by one of Korean's top sunscreen manufacturers. There is a tiny bit of white cast when I first apply it but it goes away once I leave it for about 10 minutes. [...] The downside of the sunscreen is that because it is so popular there's been quite a few fakes floating around like on Amazon so if you are planning to buy this I highly recommend buying it from an official retailer like Stylo Korean."

"The moment I tried this it pretty much immediately became my favorite chemical sunscreen. It has these four chemical filters which are all the newer ones, larger and less likely to absorb through skin. My skin is between normal and oily and really prone to dehydration, and this has the perfect amount of emolliency. It's really moisturizing and it just makes me feel like I'm feeding my skin. It has a really nice balance of both moisturizing oils and humectants, so it adds both oil and water to my skin without getting really sticky or greasy. It's really easy to apply the right amount of this, and it doesn't feel like I'm just moving liquid around on my face the way it does with a lot of lightweight sunscreens. It just feels like a cream gel moisturizer and it glides on really nice and smoothly. For me it looks really glowy especially under makeup, it doesn't look that sort of too shiny greasy that sometimes happens with sunscreens. It's also hydrating enough on my skin alone under makeup so I don't need to have a hydrating toner or anything, and it stays really nice and even throughout the day on my skin. There isn't any white cast, though I have heard that the MBBT does show up a little white on darker skin. There's no fragrance or alcohol in this, and it has niacinamide and adenosine which are used as brightening and anti-wrinkle ingredients in lots of functional Korean cosmetics, plus rice extracts which are good for hydration and sensitive skin."

"This is my favorite sunscreen. It's a chemical sunscreen with newer filters and has a very nice light texture like a hydrating gel moisturizer. It's not greasy at all, it sinks into skin very quickly, and it is very hydrating. It has very little white cast and doesn't show up on medium-ish brown skin. It has no fragrance and no alcohol, which is great if those are problems for your skin. It's designed to be super cosmetically elegant and works really well under makeup. It's also designed to wash off easily, which is great if you're worried about clogged pores, but it does mean that it's not going to stay nicely spread out on your skin if you're sweating or moving around a lot. The key skincare ingredient is rice, which is meant to be great for hydration and for sensitive skin. It has 30 percent rice extract and a thousand parts per million rice germ extract as well as three probiotic rice ferments. There are also a bunch of other plant extracts along with niacinamide, which is great for soothing skin and helping with brightening, glycerin, which is an incredible hydrating humectant, and adenosine, which is an anti-wrinkle active."

"I've talked so much about the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. This family of chemical sunscreens has been top of my list for a while. I found that the Roundlab one was slightly heavier and richer than the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen so I think the Roundlab is more suitable if your skin is drier or if it's slightly drier weather."

"This is currently the sunscreen I've been recommending the most. This is manufactured by Colmar, who are widely recognized as the top Korean sunscreen producer. The SPF has been certified by two labs in two different countries and it's actually approved as a sunscreen in Korea, which is not the case with all Korean sunscreens, so this is probably one of the most legit Korean sunscreens. It's really lightweight with a non-sticky moisturizing finish similar to a light moisturizer. Even if you apply lots of it, it doesn't clump up or get cakey under makeup. There's no white cast on light and medium skin but I have seen it show up on darker skin. It has no fragrance and no alcohol. The only issue is that this is designed to be lightweight and wash off easily, so if you're sweaty or moving around a lot very vigorously, this probably won't be as appropriate. But it's great as an everyday sunscreen. In terms of skincare ingredients, it has rice extracts, glycerin, niacinamide, and adenosine, which are brightening and anti-wrinkle ingredients."

"It's a lightweight SPF 50 chemical sunscreen that leaves minimal to no white cast and has that kind of lightweight texture with a dewy finish. The filters are different from the Korean version because it's compliant with our FDA, using chemical filters like avobenzone, homosalate, octinoxate and octocrylene along with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, panthenol and rice extract. Some people have reported that because of the slight differences in filter the texture is slightly off, but I've tried both the US and Korean versions and I have not noticed a significant difference. "It started the hype and the trend for Korean sunscreens and for many reasons. Number one, it is so affordable for an elegant sunscreen and for the size it's about $15 for a two ounce, and for that price it's really hard to find nice elegant sunscreens here in North America in the US. Two, the formula is amazing. It's lightweight, hydrating but nonsticky, has like a semi-dewy finish. It really helps to hydrate your skin, leaves no white cast and really can be utilized by all skin types. It also contains advanced UV filters that we just currently don't have in the US. It's SPF 50 PA four pluses which is the maximum protection for UVA, so it offers great UVB and UVA coverage. In addition it has other ingredients that can help to support a healthy skin barrier. So for anyone that's looking for an elegant sunscreen that leaves no white cast with a semi-dewy finish, this would be the one to start with. Also don't forget to mention that this is fragrance free, and from my personal experience even when my skin was sensitive I had no problems using this product despite the fact that it is a chemical filter. And that's the other thing that I really found with Korean sunscreens: despite the fact that most of their products are chemical filters, I've had very low irritation from using this even when my skin was sensitive, and even feedback from many of my sensitive skin friends and patients that using Korean sunscreens have not really irritated their skin."

This is one of the only skincare products that truly went viral of its own accord last year and the year before because it is so amazing. This is an SPF 50 plus PA4 pluses. This is a chemical formula, but it feels like a light nourishing moisturizer. It's perfect for my oily T-zone, perfect for my dry skin, and it's packed with skin beneficial ingredients. 30% rice extract, which rice has been used in Korean skincare for like centuries. It's rich in amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals that help brighten and hydrate the skin along with barrier repair and improving skin elasticity. Lactobacillus ferment lysate is a probiotic that strengthens the skin's microbiome. This helps with things like inflammation, strengthens your skin barrier and makes it more resilient over time. "This is new, I literally got this in PR yesterday. This is Beauty of Joseon's Relief Sun, and this is supposed to be a lot lighter and a lot more hydrating than their Relief Sun, the viral one, which is nice. It's worth its virality but that does feel like a slightly thicker moisturizer. So this is meant to be the lighter alternative and it really is. I dare to say people are actually enjoying this a lot more than their Relief Sun. It feels so watery. It does have a slightly typical sunscreen smell, but a lot of people found that the Relief Sun actually left somewhat of a white cast on their skin and they're finding that this one really does leave nothing because it has chemical filters. The finish isn't dewy like dewy glass skin, nothing. It's just sheer. It's going to go on your skin, it's going to match your skin. It's going to give you slightly moisturized-looking skin but not that usual dewy glow that a lot of people don't like about certain Korean sunscreens or like that greasiness that you get from more Western sunscreens."

It is not since the great Korean sunscreen scandal has a moisturizer been this elegantly formulated or has a sunscreen felt just exactly like a moisturizer. And that's why everybody loved it. It is such a good sunscreen and it deserves all the attention it got. If you are oily, you may not love this. As somebody who has an oily T zone that likes to be dewy, I enjoy this. "This is the lightweight and refreshing version of the Relief Sun, which is also a favorite. It has a thinner and more watery application that just feels so hydrating. It sinks in and dries down super fast, almost like you're getting a splash of water that just gets sucked into your skin. It's really refreshing and soothing as you apply it, and I feel like it leaves a very smooth skin finish. While the Relief Sun is creamy and moisturizing, this just feels really hydrating and then disappears. It has 30% rice water in it and it's also got panthenol or vitamin B5, which is super hydrating. This still feels very very silky and lightweight but it does leave your skin feeling quite moisturized, so this would actually even be a good moisturizer replacement because it's got some beautiful moisturizer ingredients and barrier protecting ingredients in it. I love the skin finish on it. It gives you this sort of radiance from within kind of glow that looks really flattering under makeup. I like to put sunscreen on in lighter layers and this is a very easy formula to do that with. There's no fragrance with this, and it actually feels very calming on your skin, really soothing."

This Rice and Probiotic sunscreen is a little bit thicker than the Isntree, but it has those same effects of hydrating, leaving the skin silky smooth, being perfect for reapplication, perfect for use under makeup, or literally it smooths out the pores just the way that this one does, so that I don't feel the need to wear makeup at all. I love this so so much. The prices are very comparable. The ingredients are slightly different—this has probiotics and rice for more hydration and it is a little bit thicker. This one has fig and hyaluronic acid, it's more lightweight but still gives you that dewy glow. Play around with them and see which one is right for you. Both of these are two of the best sunscreens I've ever ever tried, so phenomenal."
