What the gurus are saying

Dr. Jenny Liu rates it highly; CYoung passed. CYoung: "Hard pass. If you want to clean your sink, buy this. If you are expecting the slimy TikTok effect you will need to use a ridiculous amount, and seriously, why would you even mix it with toner?"

"It's a physical exfoliant and I would caution those that are sensitive because you are rubbing this powder on your skin that is removing some of that dullness. If you're super sensitive or you have really active redness, it's something you may want to hold off on or try the mask version instead. But this is one of the best rice powder cleansers that I've really used in the sense it really makes my skin feel more supple and soft and hydrated after using. It has great ingredients that helps to brighten the skin as well with time, over time with use, and great for an instant pick-me-up in brightening your skin tone. It contains rice powder and extract that helps to gently brighten your skin, alpha arbutin which is a derivative of hydroquinone that offers brightening benefits, and then ceramides. This is a great product. You can use it like a cleanser or like a mask. [...] It's one that gives you great benefits but at the same time is really fun to use."

"It's the Rice Enzyme Brightening Cleansing Powder, which is really fun because you can use it a couple different ways. Number one is just like a plain rice cleanser. It has a little bit of a rice polish that works as a gentle chemical exfoliant. I don't recommend doing it on a regular basis like daily, especially if you're super sensitive, but certainly [...] if you use it a few times a week, your skin feels like buttery smooth and soft immediately after, as well as the hydration. It's also really fun because you can turn it into a mask, one of those marshmallow sticky masks that [...] offers instant hydration and over time some brightening benefits as well. I personally just love using it as a polish cleanser. [...] The ingredients make it great because it's hydrating, really helps to soften your skin at the same time, and with continued use may offer some brightening benefits. It contains rice powder and rice extract that offers some gentle exfoliating and brightening properties along with alpha arbutin, which is a gentle derivative of hydroquinone that helps to fade discoloration, and ceramides that help to strengthen the skin barrier. So overall just a great cleanser, and you can certainly use it once in a while as a fun rice brighten face mask."

"Hard pass. If you want to clean your sink, buy this. If you are expecting the slimy TikTok effect you will need to use a ridiculous amount, and seriously, why would you even mix it with toner? If that worked, then just washing your face with toner should give you perfect skin. It was so slippery that I had to rinse for over five minutes, and at that point any cleanser would leave your face squeaky clean anyway. After rinsing, my dry skin felt tight. If you want deep cleansing, melt down your sebum with a cleansing oil instead."
