What the gurus are saying

This gentle foam's 33% centella and glycerin content creates a luxurious lather that leaves skin feeling hydrated rather than stripped, making it particularly well-suited for those with sensitive or damaged skin barriers. Those with oily or combination skin may find the cleansing power a bit light. Massage the bubbles into your face, rather than the liquid.

"A normal foam cleanser like SKIN1004 is a lot more affordable, so that is what I would buy instead of paying up for the trendy whipped cleanser and mask products."

I Tested 17 Skin1004 Products… Here’s What I’d Actually Repurchase
"Great. This one is definitely gentle, when you foam it up and massage it it feels soft and cushiony on the skin. I'd recommend it for sensitive skin. That said, if you're oily or combo, the cleansing power might feel a little weak."

"This one goes right to the top for me. If you have sensitive skin and are really reluctant and scared to try anything else, try this. It's so easy to make bubbles with it, and remember you should only cleanse with the bubbles. It's affordable too, so why not."
Which is the best Viral TIKTOK Korean Cleansing Oils & Cleansers for you? (NOT sponsored)
"Between these I feel like this one was the most favorite, it has 33 percent centella which makes your skin calm down, and it bubbles the most well. It's gold colored and very soft, so hypoallergenic, and after you wash it out it doesn't dry out your skin. I kind of understand the hype, it's a low acidic cleansing foam, some products are very slippery but this one isn't that slippery. I'd recommend it to all skin types."

"I love this product. This is fragrance free as well. I would say this is a lovely cleanser if you have dry, damaged skin barrier."

"Foam cleansers are very hit or miss to me because I like a little bit of frothiness, that satisfying foam, but with foam cleansers a lot of times I can just get overwhelmed and it feels like it gets so foamy that it doesn't properly cleanse my skin. But if there's one thing I'm feeling right now, my skin is cleansed. It feels like my skin feels good, a little bit dry."

"The Skin1004 ampoule foam is a little drying in my opinion."
~Yay
"It foams up slightly and rinses off really well, makes me feel like my skin's moisturized afterwards. It does clean the oil off and it foams really nicely but it's not stripping, it doesn't have really harsh surfactants in it. It foams up really nicely and that's because it's got two main surfactants, sodium cocoyl isethionate and sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, these are two surfactants that give a really nice luxurious dense foam. This gives the nice foam at a pH of about 5.5. It also has Centella, which is really non-irritating, and it also has a lot of glycerin which is why it leaves your skin feeling hydrated and not stripped."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
