CYoung has worked through 35 dry skin products, and she is not easy to satisfy. She approved 20, gave 8 a mixed take, and skipped 7 outright. Her stamp of approval takes more than a nice texture to earn. She looks for formulas that genuinely repair the skin barrier and work well for sensitive skin too.

What does CYoung recommend for dry skin?

Most of what CYoung approves repairs the skin barrier and stays gentle enough for sensitive skin. In her Real Barrier Extreme Cream review, she called out panthenol and madecassoside by name. Both are barrier-repair ingredients. That means they help skin hold onto moisture rather than just sitting on top. She named seven category winners, with Mixsoon Bean Cream coming out on top in a sixteen-moisturiser side-by-side test she ran.

In her words

"The one on the right is famous for a lot of reviews on Amazon, but my holy grail is the one on the left, both are from Illiyoon, the same brand. If your skin is too dry no matter what you wear, trust me and try it. It's a large size so I use it for a long time, you can use it for the whole family, and I even use it on my face when it gets so sensitive."
"This was my holy grail for a pretty long time. It contains both panthenol and madecassoside. Some of my guests say they're so sensitive they can't even use Aestura, but this one is okay even if you have super sensitive skin. The texture is similar but it doesn't have capsules, it's a little bit heavy. They also have an Extreme Cream Light version, which is better if you have oily or acne prone skin."
"This is my second one of these and I think it works even better than the first. My sister has really sensitive skin and everything else I gave her she never finished because it did not agree with her skin, but she actually finished this one, which tells me it works well even for sensitive skin. It comes in a jar, it is not too heavy, it feels like something between a lotion and a cream, and if you apply a little more it also works well for dry skin. It feels like more of an all rounder. It has a very good hydration level and works well even for very sensitive, very dry skin. Overall, this got the number one spot out of all sixteen moisturizers I tested."
"The number one cleanser here in Korea is definitely the Manyo cleansing oil, I use multiple bottles of it and it cleanses so well. The one downside is that compared to the Anua oil the texture is a bit heavier, so if you're new to cleansing oils it can feel too heavy, but if you wear heavy makeup and want something that really works, Manyo is the answer."
"This is my favorite, I think this is my fifteenth jar of it. I've tried other brands too but I didn't find anything that beats this. It's amazing, it makes a great lip balm."
"This comes scented or unscented, it's amazing, you can pick the scented one, it's still okay with me, but if you're sensitive you can definitely go with the unscented since it does have a scent. It's a bit slippery, like old-school hyaluronic acid. Nowadays Korean brands have more advanced hyaluronic acid that isn't slippery, but this still absorbs well and works pretty good, and if you layer it two or three times it works like a serum. Hyaluronic acid works for everybody whatever your skin is, especially in humid weather, it holds water in the air so well. If you feel dehydrated from air conditioning, tropical country ladies, try this out today. I'm pretty generous with it."

How many products has CYoung reviewed for dry skin?

CYoung has reviewed 35 products for dry skin, for a Guru Score of 57%. 20 approved, 8 mixed, and 7 skipped.

What has CYoung skipped for dry skin?

The clearest theme in her skips is hype without delivery. She skipped BYOMA Milky Toner for being neither hydrating nor moisturising, despite its Amazon popularity. She also skipped COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream for dry and mature skin. She found it evaporates before it can do much for those skin types. Her strongest skip was Medicube Collagen Jelly Cream. It topped her hydration tests but felt like Vaseline without actually moisturising underneath. She called it the worst of everything she tried.

What should you take from CYoung's picks?

CYoung has a clear standard for dry skin products. She wants them to actually moisturise the skin, not just feel like they do on the surface. She named seven category winners from her 35 reviews. She is also direct about why she skips what she skips, even when those products are bestsellers. If your skin is dry or sensitive and you want a reviewer who runs actual side-by-side tests, her record here is worth a look.
