  • Works on face and body
  • Fragrance-free

What they flagged

  • Thick texture can be hard to squeeze from tube
  • May absorb too quickly for very dry skin

What the gurus are saying

The ceramide micro-capsules dissolve into skin as you apply, earning consistent praise for sustained hydration and barrier healing, even after several nights without reapplication. The texture strikes a balance: rich enough for dry skin and those using retinoids, yet not so heavy that it feels uncomfortable on combination skin or during warmer weather. Gurus suggest it works best for people with dryness or barrier concerns rather than very sensitive skin, and note it doubles well as a body moisturizer.

"The Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is one of the best ceramide creams you can find in Korea for an amazing price point. [...] A similar comparison would be CeraVe here in the States, but because it's Korea, they're just next level with how good their formulas are. It's super simple but super good, especially for eczema prone skin, so it's a perfect fit for her."

"I always say this is my holy grail, I call it my stretch cream even though that's not how they marketed it. I used this during my whole pregnancy and it's amazing stuff. It also has panthenol in it, and I use it for my whole body."

My Entire K-Beauty Routine is Finally on Sale. (Labo H, Hera, Illiyoon)
"Globally the number one Illiyoon body care product is the cream, and I have it at home for my baby to use. It's a lot thicker, more like a thick balm, so it's harder to use, and honestly I can't fully understand the appeal. For me I like the lotion better, and since my baby doesn't go outside that much her skin doesn't get that dry, so even in winter the lotion is enough for us. If you want to try both there are sets with a mix of lotions and creams."
8 Best Skin Barrier Repair Creams for Damaged, Sensitive & Peeling Skin
"I used to say the cream was just okay, but the 2025 upgrade changed that. Look for nine-free on the tube, that's the new third generation formula, safe for the whole family and packed with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. The cream gets a bit tough to squeeze, so if you want an easier pump go for the lotion instead. It's Korea's number one bestselling body lotion for a reason. Worth the hype."

"This wins for me because you can use it on both the body and the face, while the other one is only for the face. I do not think the pricier option is twice as good, so price wise they are similar, and since I became a mom I think about being able to use the same cream on my baby and myself as a family cream, so I give this the better point. It is also the more popular pick here in Korea, they even have a lotion version, and if you live somewhere tropical the lotion version would work even better."
What Koreans Actually Use for Glowing Skin | The Real K-Beauty Routine (Not Sponsored)
"The Illiyoon Repair Cream was the most effective moisturizer I found for my stretch marks when I was pregnant, I like the repair version a lot better than their original one even though it's not as popular. But if you're in a tropical climate and don't have dry skin, the repair version feels very sticky, it's really, really moisturizing."

"This cream is very thick and has capsules in it, heavier than their lotion. It says it's for dry sensitive skin but I can't agree, it dries too quickly. One great advantage is no scent, but that's it. A lot of Koreans in the reviews say it's not enough for their dry skin."
Best Viral Korean Moisturizers [don’t buy one before watching this]
"This is not bad but I do not understand that much hype. There is no fragrance at all so you can use it for a baby, a pregnant woman, like an old family item, but the thing is it is so thick, oh my god, you have to put too much effort to put it on the face, you have to rub it too much, so it is going to be a little more work. If you want it for the face and body it is not bad."

"Illiyoon's barrier concentrate cream and their newer toner [...] have actually very similar ingredients but differ mainly in texture. If you have an actively impaired barrier, or in the colder, drier months, you [...] want to go with the richer ceramide cream. [...] You'll notice [...] little spheres throughout it, and [...] as you rub it on the skin those dissolve to deliver ceramides and lipid supporting ingredients to help with the barrier. Very, very good formula."

The Best Moisturizers For Sensitive Skin 2025
"The ceramide ado complex is basically a blend of ceramides in these tiny little capsules. Also has fatty acids and cholesterol. [...] Claims to offer 100 hours of hydration. It does offer very good long-lasting skin moisturization. I [...] have used it as the final step in my skincare routine one night and then didn't use a nighttime moisturizer other than my tretinoin cream for the next several nights and was perfectly fine. My face did not fall off. So it really does keep the skin nice [...] and hydrated and moisturized. Panthenol is another B vitamin that is water loving and helps improve water content in your skin, which is very helpful for getting your barrier back on track for healing the skin barrier and for reducing ultimately the symptoms of sensitivity. [...] The Illiyoon product is a rich creamy texture [...] but a lot less emollient, so if you have oily to combination skin, you might actually lean more towards preferring just the feel of the Illiyoon one. You can get it in a variety of different sizes. You can get a big jar of it, which I really like having a large volume because not only is this great for the face, but it's a great body moisturizer as well."
Shopping For Korean And Japanese Skincare
"I did a video on Korean moisturizers for sensitive skin and Illiyoon's Ceramide Ato Concentrate. This has a formula similar to Cerave, but the ceramides are like in these little capsules that melt into the skin. It's a really unique formulation, but this is a great option for irritation or you can use it on the entire face if you like a really rich moisturizer. You can use it as an eye cream. You can also use a little bit on your lips. Put a little petroleum jelly over it and it will really lock it in. A little plumping action through those humectants."
Illiyoon Milky Toner vs Ceramide Cream: Which Is Better?
"I have constantly been recommending the Illiyoon Barrier Concentrate Cream. It is excellent for dry, sensitive skin. The needs of the skin barrier are addressed with this product. The cream is not only richer and thick, but it's formulated with little capsules that contain barrier supporting ingredients. When you put it on your finger you get little gritty bitties, which are little tiny spheres that as you rub the cream on your face, they melt into the skin to really effectively release those barrier supporting ingredients in an efficient and stabilized manner so you really derive maximum benefits from them. The cream is built around not only barrier support but maximum occlusion. It contains glycerin at higher percentage which is hydrating and reduces water loss, dimethicone which is occlusive and reduces water loss, and a substantial amount of emolients and fatty acids to help reduce transepidermal water loss including pentaerythrityl tetra-isostearate, hydrogenated polyolefins, stearic acid, palmitic acid, behenyl alcohol, fatty alcohols, and cholesterol. The cream is going to feel a lot more repairing. If you are in dire straits of an impaired barrier dealing with dryness and flaking, you're going to get barrier improvement likely faster with the cream due to its occlusion. The cream is a go-to recommendation for people who are acutely impaired as far as their skin barrier goes. Once skin is in the flaky stages of healing after a sunburn, the cream helps with the long-lived barrier weakening that is likely still going on and helps with the flakiness as well."

"Illiyoon Ato Ceramide Concentrate Cream is one of my favorites and it roughly costs the same price as CeraVe. This is another great option for healing your skin barrier because it's got the ceramide cholesterol fatty acid content that we look for in our moisturizers. Plus, it has an occlusive factor to it. It also contains some soothing madecassoside, which is a biologically active compound found in centella. So, this one has a little bit of a soothing edge to it that calms down the irritation and the itchiness. It's a slightly lighter texture than CeraVe as well, so it may not feel as heavy on oilier or more balanced skin types."

Classic K-Beauty Skincare I STILL Recommend in 2026!
"Ilune, at least with this cream, they know what they're doing. I do wish that they would just land on something and stick with it because it's just more of an annoyance now at this point, but it is still a product worth paying attention to. And for me personally, it still works for my skin type in certain situations. I'll probably be cracking back into that bottle in about a month or so as the temperatures start to warm up."

"I knew I was going to need a good cream, and I just opted for the ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream and I have not regretted it. It has not felt too heavy or too thick on any of the days that I've been here, and it's been great even during the warmer daytime."
My Top 5 Moisturizers | 2025 Edition
"Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is so nourishing, so silky, so barrier supportive. I've been talking about this moisturizer since 2019 and I absolutely adore it. They did do a pretty significant reformulation in 2022 that changed the cream quite a bit, and I do mourn the old version quite honestly, but I really like the new formula as well. The new formula is definitely richer and more moisturizing with a little bit more emolliency to it because they added some oil-based ingredients into the reformulation that definitely made it a little bit thicker. But it's still a really lovely luxurious silky cream at a very affordable price and a very good value. This is a ceramide-based cream and they're using ceramide PC104, which has a different molecular structure."
August Faves | Illiyoon, Purcell, Abib, Prequel, Why Endings are Sometimes Beginnings
"I have been into this moisturizer since 2019 and this is the third reformulation that I have lived through with this moisturizer. I am actually a fan of this new formula, but I will tell you it has changed. It definitely has changed from the previous version. The texture itself has changed. It is a bit lighter now and a little bit more hydrating and I've actually found that to be very useful for the summer weather with my combination skin. While I'm still quite dry in the T-zone, that T-zone is popping with oil. As much as I do enjoy the new formula, I am going to miss that old one. I really wish they would stop messing around with it. But I do enjoy this one. They did add some mandelic acid into this formula, and that was not in the previous version."
Ranking 20 Top Selling Products at Olive Young!
"ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is one of those few creams that I think is trying to address more dry skin types instead of kind of telling the line between a gel and a cream and trying to please everybody. This cream was recently reformulated about two years ago [...] to be a little bit more moisturizing, and while that was definitely something to get used to and I think it was a letdown for certain folks, I do think it actually helps this cream stand out. ILLIYOON changed in a way that made it stand out even a little bit more, and it's one of those few picks that I think has a richness to it that can really help to address dryness on the skin. Is it going to be enough for very, very dry skin? Probably still not. But for somebody like me who has combination skin, is a retinoid user, but can lean a lot more dry in colder weather, this is perfect. It's the right amount of moisture where other creams aren't going to stack up."
The BEST K-Beauty Barrier Creams | Illiyoon, Aestura, Cosrx and Zeroid Review
"They have tweaked the formula a bit to allow for some of that dewy appearance, that glass skin effect. It's not very wet and shiny, but it does have a little bit of that element to it, but it is still maintaining some [occlusivity] and some nice moisturization as well. This is really more of a recommendation for combo skin, balanced skin types. I find, especially this newer formulation, not really suitable for classically dry skin. I personally find this is not going to hold up to that minus 20 degree weather. This is something that I'll use more in the moderate temperatures of spring and fall. The soothing element of this cream, the maticicide, really stands out as a nice bonus addition to this formula that previous versions didn't have. Some other barrier creams don't always have this soothing effect to them that you can feel when your skin is irritated. You need that relief. Not all creams bring relief. This is particularly good if you are dealing with more sensitivity, itchiness, redness, inflammation, skin that just feels off. When that's the case, this is actually so good because that soothing element really is there."
Underrated/Overrated ep. 1 | Dr Jart, Illiyoon, Innisfree, Isntree
"My underrated alternative to the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin line is the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate line. As an alternative to Dr. Jart+, it is a lesser known brand, it's not as globally available as Dr. Jart+, it doesn't have that presence in North America and in Europe in Sephora stores, you definitely do have to be a little bit more into K Beauty to get into Illiyoon. The other reason why I think it's actually a really nice worthy alternative and slightly underrated compared to Dr. Jart+ is it is also a full service ceramide line. Not only are they offering a moisturizing cream, they also offer a moisturizing gel and lotion. Right away we've got more options opened up for different skin types."
Tips For Youthful Neck And Chest Skin
"I do love the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream. It is actually a face and body cream and something that works really well, especially if you have very dry skin or if you have barrier concerns. This one is very nourishing, it's moisturizing, it's very strengthening and healing for the skin."
Ranking Summer Skincare Empties! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"I've been talking about this since 2019. It's a little bit richer, especially since it was formulated about 2 years ago they added a little bit more oil content so it actually creates a richer silkier more moisturizing experience and I really do enjoy how much moisture this brings my skin. This is a little bit heavy to wear on like 90° days right, it's a little too much for my skin at that point, but this is a longtime favorite and it's really nourishing if you do have some dryness on your skin."
Barrier Care for Cold Weather Skincare Routine
"It's slightly richer than the Illiyoon cream, which was reformulated last year to be a little bit silky and richer. This even has more. I think it just has this beautiful kiss of silky, creamy richness, butteriness. These are the best words to describe this moisturizer. It just melts into my skin, but it just feels really nourishing and comforting."
My Most Repurchased Skincare | 2024 Edition
"I have been loving this one since 2019. I've actually loved it through a few reformulations and it did change quite drastically, I believe it was 2022 when they changed it, and I actually still really like it and it has not fallen out of my most restocked and most repurchased products. When I damaged my moisture barrier, this cream got me through a rough period of time, but it's also dear to my heart because it has always worked for my skin, it has always felt so good, it has always been so skin respectful, and it's always had the most amazing texture. I like that it comes in quite a big tube and it's always been very economical. I still find this to be a pretty good deal for the amount that you get versus the price, and it's something that has lasted me a long time."

"Another great one that's pretty friendly for most acne prone skin, the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream, which is 11 bucks at Olive Young right now. Fragrance free. We've got ceramide, ginseng, vitamin E, soybean oil, canola oil. This one's got a wonderful gel cream texture to it. And the bottles of these are typically large, so you can use it face, neck, arms, wherever. You don't have to feel guilty using it everywhere."

"I really enjoy this stuff, it's great. It's nice to layer as well. Now that winter's here, I'll layer this over a lighter serum or body lotion. The bottle's huge, it's pretty affordable. There's no fragrance or anything like that in there, so that's worth checking out."

"Another winter favorite is the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream. This is so good you guys. It is so rich in ceramides and also contains ginseng root, which has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a really excellent option for sensitive skin like mine during the colder months. It was recently on sale during Amazon Prime Day and I am not kidding, I bought five."

"It's a Korean skincare one. It's so good. It has these little ceramide capsules in it that just melt into your skin when you rub it in. I love this one, especially paired with retinoids because it's a really good thick luxurious texture. This is one of my current new obsessions."
Yay
"Their Ceramide Ato-Concentrate Cream, I think is pretty much the same thing as Aestura's Ato-Barrier Cream. Love them both. Again, a really nice Ceramide packed moisturizer. Their Ceramides are delivered in these little capsules, which is supposedly supposed to help with enhanced penetration, so you really reap the benefits of those Ceramides. And again, it's just a really nice cream that's perfect for those days where your skin does feel so much drier or you've irritated your skin after experimenting with different skincare. Again, two of my go-to, mainly evening, moisturizers."
Mixed
"This has two of my product icks. First, it says seven-free right on the front of the tube, and I hate eight-free from clean beauty marketing because it's based on pseudoscience. The other ick is this has like little bursting beads in it—they're like white granules inside the product that kind of give the illusion of the product having concentrated ingredients. This product was reformulated at the end of 2021. There's a lot of mixed reviews on whether the old version or the new version are better. The moisturizing properties of this are quite similar to the Aestura Soon Jung barrier cream, but there's no panthenol on my decipher side, so it's not really as targeted for barrier repair. I found that this didn't really do enough to hydrate my skin—there's not much of an occlusive or humectant effect even though glycerin is near the top of the ingredient list. I found that I needed to really hydrate my skin underneath, and that could make sense because most Asian skincare routines would have that step, but it is a pretty bland product and it sinks into skin nicely. I think it's reasonably cheap, so I'm gonna put this into solid choice."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.
