No BS Beauty has reviewed 64 products for acne-prone skin and approves most of what she tests. This record carries a Guru Score of 69%. She named four products her category winners, among them Topicals Faded Brightening Serum and Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30. Several others drew her back for a second, third, or even fourth purchase.

What does No BS Beauty recommend for acne-prone skin?

Her approved picks tend to be affordable and fragrance-free, and she mentions price alongside what a product does. Azelaic acid is an ingredient she rates very highly. She praises it for calming redness, clearing breakouts, and fading dark spots. When she approves a retinoid, she recommends sandwiching it between two layers of moisturizer. Those extra layers, she says, help acne-prone skin handle the dryness retinoids can cause.

In their words

"With a 10 being a perfect score this one a 10 I can't really think of any issues with it"

"Peach Slices Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner, it's $ [...] 13.99. It's a hydrating toner. It's got snail mucin. It's got hyaluronic acid. And it's got Centella in there for soothing and antioxidant benefits. And snail mucin is so hydrating for your skin. So if you haven't tried it and you've got drier skin, [...] I would consider this more of their hydration line. I'm on my third bottle of it now."

"The Strate Lipid Gold is 27 bucks. I just finished up my last tube last night. So, I love this stuff. It's fragrance free. It's got a lotion texture. [...] It's got a nice lotion texture to it. And it's fragrance-free and it is kind of yellow due to the seabuckthorn oil in here. So it's got ceramides, rose hip oil, cranberry seed oil, which is a super good antioxidant, green tea. I'd say this is great for dry, normal and dehydrated skin. And for acne prone skin, we have dimethicone, cetyl alcohol, squalane, and vitamin E. So pretty friendly for the most part depending on what you're sensitive to."

"Love this stuff, this was a repurchase, my next tube of this one would be my fourth purchase of it, and it's just super affordable. Azelaic acid is great for rosacea, redness-prone skin, acne-prone skin, and brightening hyperpigmentation and dark spots, and this stuff was great. Love it, and so affordable too."

"I personally would recommend this as opposed to like alcohol wipes because that would be pretty drying. But either way, it's very important to sanitize it if you have any active breakouts or things like that, hold off or see an esthetician or dermatologist."

"If you're in the US, you can get this over the counter now. It's fragrance-free. This size tube will be 33 bucks, but nowadays a lot of stores have their generic versions of it, which are about half the price, and the formulas are the same. It contains adapalene, which basically helps to fight acne as well as dead skin cell formation, which helps prevent breakouts and may help with skin tone and texture as well. It's got a pretty simple formula with like five ingredients: adapalene, a preservative, and some type of purified water and things like that. [...] Some people have found this to be on the harsh side, so I'd recommend sandwiching it in between moisturizers if you can. Apply a nice light moisturizer, apply your retinoid product, and then apply a thicker cream to help prevent dryness and things like that."

How many products has No BS Beauty reviewed for acne-prone skin?

No BS Beauty has reviewed 64 products for acne-prone skin, for a Guru Score of 69%. 44 approved, 11 mixed, and 9 skipped.

What has No BS Beauty skipped for acne-prone skin?

She tends to skip products that pack essential oils and drying alcohols into an exfoliating formula. She skipped the Medicube Zero Pore Pad for exactly this reason. She pointed to bergamot, rosemary, lavender, and citrus oils sitting alongside denatured alcohol and lactic acid. That combination, she said, is likely to cause far more damage than benefit on acne-prone skin.

What should you take from No BS Beauty's picks?

No BS Beauty leans clearly toward affordable, fragrance-free formulas for acne-prone skin. Her habit of coming back to the same products is one of the most direct signals in her record. She named four outright winners across 64 reviews, and her reasons for skipping are often as detailed as her reasons for approving. Both sides of her record are worth reading closely.
