What the gurus are saying

This anti-aging sunstick combines 1% bakuchiol with 25 peptides, unusual ingredients for a sunscreen that deliver visible firming and glow benefits without sun sensitivity. Bakuchiol works safely in daylight as a retinol alternative, and the weightless formula glides on to blur skin imperfections with no white cast across all skin tones. Though it applies easily over light makeup, heavy coverage foundation may shift underneath it.

"I have put it to the test and have been thoroughly enjoying it. It is the Mary and May Vegan Peptide Bakuchiol Sun Stick SPF 50. This one is so freaking cool because not only is it a great SPF sunstick that has zero white cast or gray cast, works for every skin tone, it also has 1% bakuchiol. Bakuchiol is an incredible natural alternative to retinol. It's a great alternative to retinols that can be used in the sunlight. So it focuses on helping to reverse skin damage, fight against aging, antioxidant protection, but it doesn't make your skin sensitive to the sun like retinol does. Not to mention, this sunstick has the most peptides I have ever seen in my life. 25 peptides in one single product. Normally, when it comes to sunscreens, I'm not picky at all about what ingredients are in it because I just need something that does a good job of protecting my skin. But the amount of peptides you get in this to help create that glowy, hydrated, firm, dewy skin effect is absolutely incredible. If you're someone who wants that nice glowy, dewy look whenever you apply your sunstick throughout the day, I definitely recommend this one."

"I love the one from Mary&May, their vegan peptide bakuchiol sunstick with an SPF of 50. I love this because it's well aging skincare as well with like 25 different peptides, it's got bakuchiol, but also it is weightless and really silky."

"The vegan peptide bakuchiol sun stick with an SPF of 50 and a PA of four pluses. I reviewed this in a sunscreen video earlier this year and this is just my favorite sunstick at the moment. I just love the berry tint to it. This is a well-aging stick on steroids. It's got 1% bakuchiol in it as well as 25 different peptides which I love. I think that's a great combination. Bakuchiol is widely called the vegan alternative to retinoids because it can have some similar effects on your skin. This is elegant in all the ways in application, in texture. It glides on weightlessly. It almost has the skin perfecting quality, it kind of blurs out areas as you apply it. I love that I can glide this over my skin and just leave it. I don't have to further use my hands or anything like that. There's no streakiness or awkwardness to this at all. I love also that it leaves a velvet like skin blurring finish. I'd say this works for all skin types, oily skin, dry skin. This isn't heavy at all, it's really weightless."

"This is the Mary&May Vegan Peptide Bakuchiol Sun Stick SPF50+ PA++++. It's more of a satin finish, and personally, as a person with dry skin, I do slightly prefer this one because I like how beautifully it glides on my skin. I like this category because I find sun sticks easy to apply over makeup, though there's a catch, it's easy to apply over light makeup and not heavy makeup. If you are wearing a full coverage foundation this might not work, it might move the foundation around a lot, but later in the day if I'm wearing a skin tint or a light coverage foundation I am able to glide it over my makeup and it does not disturb it too much. If I'm in direct sun I would still recommend reapplying with a full finger length application of a standard sunscreen instead."

Mary&May: THE K-Beauty Brand for Dry Skin!
"I've been wanting to try this for ages, the vegan peptide bakuchiol sunstick, and it did not disappoint. This is SPF fifty plus, PA four plus, and it glides so nicely on your skin, which to me is the most important characteristic in a sunstick. It includes those newer K Beauty filters without titanium dioxide, so it does not leave a white cast. The antioxidant bakuchiol is included at one percent, and it has twenty five peptide ingredients. It's another vegan product from the brand, using synthetic beeswax so you still get that shape and feel of a sunstick but in a vegan formula."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Peptides

Peptides are short protein fragments meant to signal repair. The evidence for them is thinner than for retinoids or vitamin C, and it varies a lot by the specific peptide, so the category is more promising than proven.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
