    What the gurus are saying

This powder visibly blurs pores and stays lightweight on delicate under-eye areas without settling into fine lines, earning particular praise from gurus. However, the translucent white formula creates flashback in photographs, so it's best avoided for weddings or nighttime events where camera flash is present.

"This powder really impressed me and I've been loving it. How I use it and why I love it is because number one it really helps to set my eye makeup. I on a regular basis will just basically put on concealer and then powder my eyebrow lids and under eyes to help draw in my brows, eye makeup, and obviously mascara and prevent things from running. What really kind of seals the deal for me is that it really helps to set the stage and prep my skin where regardless what type of pencil I use, it really helps to allow the pencils to draw all really nicely smoothly and create a long lasting effect. And when I use it on my lids and under eyes it helps to again prevent things from running."

"This is one of my all-time favorite setting powders. I use it under my eyes as my under eye concealer, it doesn't add any heaviness, it doesn't make it wrinkle up, in fact it keeps it from settling in my wrinkles, which is awesome. I also use it on the fronts of my cheeks to disguise my enlarged pores."

"This is one of the best powders hands down. I like it much better than even the Laura Mercier powder because it's so lightweight and it doesn't add any heaviness or any cakiness, especially to your under eye area. We need concealer under the eyes, but if it's too luminous it accentuates any puffiness that we have under there. So I like to powder it down so it's more matte so it doesn't accentuate my puffiness. But a lot of the powders will then accentuate the wrinkles, and this is the powder that really diminishes both. It keeps your concealer from creasing into your wrinkles but it does it in a way that it doesn't add any cakiness. It doesn't make the skin under your eyes look crepier and older. So it's a total win-win if you have both wrinkles and puffiness. This is going to be the powder for you."

"Setting powder is one of the products that I just cannot live without. Any foundation I use, whether it's supposed to be matte or luminous, I have to powder it. The powder that I've been recommending to you for years is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder, and I love this powder. It's so finely milled, it's really beautiful, and it really blurs. The only problem with it is that it's a translucent powder so it's white and it only comes in the one shade, and because it's white it can give flashback if you're getting your picture taken in a darkened room like at an event, you know, out at night. So I don't recommend this one for out at night."

"This is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores powder and this one only comes in one shade translucent. It's a white powder. It is very finely milled. When I put it on it helps my concealer to stay in place better, to settle in my wrinkles less. It doesn't add any heaviness or cakiness to my makeup. It also makes my pores like instantly disappear when I put it on the fronts of my cheeks. I would say this is one of my top two setting powders especially for mature skin because it is so lightweight. But I have to be careful when I wear it and not wear it at night if someone's going to be taking pictures of me. If you love this I would just stick with it, but if you tend to get photographed at night then definitely go for something like the Nyx."

"IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Powder has been a holy grail of mine for years. It is such a lightweight, finely milled powder. I use it to set my under eyes and my face. It keeps everything nice and mattified all day. It's not heavy, doesn't make my makeup look cakey, you can't see it on your skin, and it's very translucent. It's a beautiful powder."

"My holy grail powders have not changed this year. They are the same as every year. The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder or the Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder. Those are my two faves and they are both fantastic. The IT is a little bit more lightweight, a little bit more sheer, and a little bit more luminous."

"This has been one of my holy grail powders for a long long time. This is the best powder for making your skin's texture disappear. I mean, any place that I put this, it just immediately makes my pores and any ripely skin just completely disappear. This is so finely milled and so beautiful. It's not going to add any weight to your makeup. It's not going to add any weight to your skin. It is just like the most beautiful powder."

"Next I'm going to use my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores powder to set my under eyes. With this concealer I feel like it's not too too glowy so you could actually get away without powder under the eyes, but for me I just like how powder looks under my eyes and I like my under eyes to be a little bit more matte."

"The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder is going to be discounted. I haven't used it lately. I actually switched over to the NYX Matte Mineral Powder and I like this better. If you haven't tried this, I would try this instead just to give it a try, but if you love the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder and you're not interested in switching, that's going to be discounted."

"The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores is a loose powder and it's my favorite. It makes my pores disappear and saved the day on the foundation because otherwise it was a shiny, greasy looking mess. If you want to tone down your foundation, make it less shiny and make it wearable, especially if you have enlarged pores, this is really a winner."

    What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

    Retinoids

Retinoids are among the best studied ingredients in dermatology, with solid evidence for acne and for the fine lines and rough texture that come from sun exposure. Dryness and flaking in the first few weeks are common and usually settle.

    Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

    Source: DermNet

    Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.
