What the gurus are saying

The copper peptide, retinol and caffeine combination impressed reviewers for smoothing and firming fine lines and the delicate eye area. The ingredient formula with 14 peptides and ascorbic acid earned praise, with enthusiasts making it a daily staple for long-term use. However, a class action lawsuit alleges deceptive advertising of promised skin benefits, so investigating those claims is sensible before committing.

"There are two eye creams which I really like. One is obviously there Asha which has got copper peptide, it's got retinyl, it's got caffeine and all of those things. And I think that is really good, specially if you have dark if you have under eye wrinkles."

"The Drunk Elephant A-Shaba Complex Eye Serum is one of the eye creams that I absolutely love because you get 0.1% retinol, you get copper peptide, and you get caffeine. You put copper peptide in anything and I'm putting it on my skin. This is a product which is fabulous for brightening, wrinkles, all of those great things."

"It really gives that smooth softness around the eye area but also it can address fine lines and wrinkles and help firm the skin. This is designed for that delicate skin around the eyes, so if you're a little nervous to apply copper peptides around the eye area, especially the ones designed for the face, then you can look into this, which contains that copper peptide ingredient. This is really effective, by the way, and it really does improve the skin around the eyes."

6 ANTI-AGING SKINCARE PRODUCTS I'M LOVING FOR 2023 | THESE WORK AND I AM SO IMPRESSED!
"This is one of their newest launches and I've been really enjoying it this year. I really like eye serums more so than eye creams because I truly do believe that these are more concentrated with ingredients and the ingredients in here are outstanding, they are phenomenal. There is 0.1 percent retinol so of course this is going to help with those fine lines and crow's feet, it can really help to gently exfoliate at the same time giving you more of that smoother look and brighter look around the eyes. There is also niacinamide and caffeine so great for dark circles and puffiness. This actually really does help to de-puff. I do wake up puffy in the morning just around the eye area and this one also does a very good job to de-puff as well. I really like how this one has ceramide so this is going to strengthen and repair the skin around the eyes and remember the skin around our eyes are so delicate and thin so it's really important to have ceramides in skincare especially when there's a retinol involved. This also has a copper tripeptide as well so if you're someone that can't use your regular copper peptide serum up and around the eyes, maybe you can use this one."
5 BEST EYE SERUMS FOR ANTI-AGING 2023 | DARK CIRCLES, PUFFINESS, FINE LINES/WRINKLES | OVER 30
"This one with that retinol and copper peptides is truly chef's kiss, so great to help with collagen production around the eyes, to soften everything, of course to brighten and keep everything nice and comfortable and moisturized. [...] This is an eye serum that has your antioxidants and your peptides. This is very gentle in my opinion and this is something that you can use every day twice a day. I've been using this the same duration as other serums and I started using this about 3 years ago, maybe even longer than that, and I refuse to take this out of my everyday routine or my weekly routine because I love the results that I see from this. [...] If I had to pick one eye serum out of all of the ones I'm sharing, this would be my top pick. When I looked at that ingredient list there were 14 types of peptides in here, there's also that copper ingredient, there is ascorbic acid."

SEPHORA VIB SALE RECOMMENDATIONS | SPRING SAVINGS EVENT 2024 - SKINCARE, MAKEUP & HAIRCARE
"I have really enjoyed this product. I'm still using it and I'm very impressed with this formulation because it has 0.1% retinol, it does have 3% caffeine in here, but there's also copper peptides. So not only are these three key ingredients amazing, the remaining ingredients that are in here are also very impressive and beneficial to the skin around the eyes. If you have dark circles, you have puffiness, you're looking for something to target fine lines, the crepiness, it really helps to firm the skin around the eye area. Copper peptides really take your skin to the next level, especially if you've been using a regular peptide for a really long time and you're just not seeing the results like you want. And since some of us can be sensitive to face serums around the eye area, at least this is designed for the delicate skin around the eyes."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Retinoids

Retinoids are among the best studied ingredients in dermatology, with solid evidence for acne and for the fine lines and rough texture that come from sun exposure. Dryness and flaking in the first few weeks are common and usually settle.

Source: DermNet

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.
