It's good at hydrating and restoring that barrier. It has really good mix of ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It is rich, non-greasy, fast absorbing moisturizer with those three essential ceramides that lock in your skin's moisture and help maintain the skin protective barrier. The key ingredients are the ceramides 1, 3, and 6, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin. The CeraVe has very similar lipid profile at a fraction of the price. It's a little bit heavier, a little bit less lux feeling than some competitors, but the versatility of this cream, it is out of this world. From newborns to elderly, head to toe, no fragrance whatsoever, no irritation, and replaces your lipids and ceramides. I'm going to go ahead and say this is a no-brainer."

It's built with ceramides, which are the lipids that hold your skin barrier together, alongside niacinamide for barrier reinforcement and anti-inflammatory support. What's interesting about this formula is that it's targeting both surface cell turnover and barrier repair, which naturally slow down over time. So, it's helping the skin function a little more efficiently again. It also has a very wearable texture. It's super easy to use consistently, which is really what makes the biggest difference with body care. The key ingredients here are mandelic acid and capsulated centella asiatica."

"My over-the-counter retinol that I tend to gravitate towards and I'm using a lot lately is SkinBetter Science AlphaRet. I'll use this on the nights where my skin is not quite ready for tretinoin and I want a little exfoliation and I still want the benefits of a retinoid, but I want something that's a little bit better tolerated. This is a combination product that pairs a retinoid with an exfoliating acid, so you're going to get both cell turnover and gentle exfoliation in one step. I find it to be a really nice option when I want results but I don't want to push my skin any more, and especially if I don't want that peeling, dryness, and irritation I sometimes get from tretinoin. The key ingredient is the AlphaRet, which is a unique combination of a retinoid and an AHA, particularly lactic acid. There's also a little bit of glycolic acid for that optimal exfoliation in addition to the retinoid."

"My go-to lately has been the SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Overnight Cream. This contains retinol that's appropriate for even dry sensitive eyes but also has a little bit of AHAs to help increase skin elasticity and help further build collagen. The ingredients in this cream will help firm the skin, minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but also brighten the skin. Some of the key ingredients in here are the AlphaRet technology, which is a combination of retinoid and AHAs, or alpha hydroxy acids, and they work together to help build collagen and firm up the skin under the eyes. Peptide blend will also help increase skin's elasticity. It's a little bit richer cream, so I like this more for normal to dry skin. What makes this one really stand out is that it's now formulated with a triple collagen peptide complex, which is going to help support your skin structure and improve the look of firmness and smoothness over time. I think this is a great option if your skin is starting to feel a little less firm or if you're noticing more visible lines. "My recommendation for best overall drugstore anti-aging moisturizer is going to be Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream. This is one of the most widely used anti-aging moisturizers available at the drugstore, and it contains ingredients that help support hydration and collagen production. It improves hydration and skin elasticity. It also helps smooth the appearance of fine lines. It has a really rich texture that still absorbs pretty well. It's a really good option for normal and dry skin, and it comes in both fragrance and fragrance-free versions. "I love this stuff. It's a rich, creamy balm that calms and hydrates without feeling sticky or greasy. We've used it in my family on shingles, on really irritated skin, scrapes, face, and anywhere on the body. It helps strengthen the moisture barrier and reduces any visible irritation. I like it in the PM. I think it's a little too thick for the morning, but if you do want to use it then, apply a very light moisturizer underneath, then a small layer of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, and then your sunscreen. That's going to help repair your skin barrier under your SPF while you're out. It really helps hydrate and soothe the barrier. The key ingredients are panthenol (vitamin B5), madecassoside, shea butter, glycerin, and methylone."

"This one's great morning or evening. It's a super rich, creamy balm. Calms and hydrates without feeling sticky or greasy. I love it on my nonactive nights like no retinol, no exfoliating acid. If I'm just taking a night off and repairing my barrier, I will do a moisturizer and then this on top. It helps strengthen the moisture barrier and reduces any visible irritation. It's for me like I said, final step in the PM routine. But if you're really dry, you can totally use this in the morning under your SPF. If your skin is like red and flaky or stinging, if you find that any moisturizer stings, this one's not going to. The key ingredients here are panthenol or vitamin B5. Also has medicide and shea butter."

"The Cicaplast Baume B5 is a multi-purpose soothing balm that hydrates, calms dry, irritated skin on face, lips, body, hands. It's really safe for any sensitive skin and babies all the way down to 4 months. It's dermatologist and allergy tested, completely fragrance and paraben-free. The key ingredients are panthenol, which is vitamin B5, designed to soothe and moisturize rough and irritated skin. It also contains shea butter and glycerin, which provide rich hydration and help restore the skin's moisture barrier. Other ingredients like medicaside, copper, zinc, and manganese all aid in repairing and reducing irritation. It also has La Roche-Posay thermal spring water. We have used this interchangeably with another product in my household and we are just about on our last bottle here finishing it and will be due for restock."

"My favorite by far recommendation in this category that I have used myself many times is the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5. This is really fast absorbing, non-greasy balm that reinforces the skin barrier while calming inflammation. It's soothing because of panthenol which supports the skin repair while also has shea butter and glycerin which will provide lightweight hydration without clogging our pores. The addition of copper and zinc in here help prevent bacterial overgrowth which can worsen peroral dermatitis."

"My next recommendation is the Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream. I love this for any sort of irritated barrier. This is my go-to. It's a really rich, somewhat occlusive repair cream that helps soothe irritation, reduce redness, and support skin recovery. It was originally actually formulated for post-procedure care. So it's perfect when your skin barrier needs complete reset. I have recommended it for overexfoliated skin, irritated, flaky skin, retinol irritation. We've even used it on shingles in the family when that became an issue. It's perfect during winter or dry indoor heating. You can use it on your face. It's great on your lips. You can put it on damp lips and put product on top. I can't really think of a place where you can't use this product. My favorite way to use it is at night time on top of a light moisturizer or underneath a moisturizer, or if you want to use it in the morning, you just need to use it sparingly because it can be a little bit thick if you apply too much. But if you apply a really thin layer of it underneath your sunscreen in the morning on irritated skin, it really helps repair your barrier throughout the day under your SPF. The key ingredients here are the copper zinc sulfate complex and the Avène thermal spring water."

"The Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream is a really rich restorative cream that helps protect and heal irritated or compromised skin. It will soothe the redness and inflammation while supporting skin barrier repair. It is suitable for extremely sensitive skin including rosacea and post-procedure care. The key ingredients are the C+ restore postbiotic restorative ingredient, which is super rich in proteins to help restore the skin barrier. It also contains copper zinc sulfate, which helps promote and maintain a healthy skin environment for optimal recovery, and Avène thermal spring water, which is rich in antioxidants to calm and soothe irritation."

"I love it. It's a really rich occlusive repair cream to help soothe irritation, reduce redness, and support skin recovery. It was originally formulated as like a post-procedure care. So it's perfect when your skin barrier really needs to be reset. If you've done microneedling or something like that or you've irritated the hell out of your skin and the area around your nose is so irritated, it will fix it. So it's perfect for that really overexfoliated post-procedure irritated flaking skin or during winter or if your heat is just running in the house and you've got dry cracked corners around your mouth, around your nose, it will fix that. I love using this at night on top of the moisturizer. By itself it's okay, but I prefer moisturizer underneath and then this on top. It repairs the barrier but also is a little bit thick so it helps seal in that moisturizer that you applied underneath. The key ingredients in this one are the copper zinc sulfate complex and the Avène thermal spring water."

"I'm CeraVe Healing Ointment all the way. This is a petrolatum based ointment that provides that intense hydration. It doesn't clog your pores. It's formulated with ceramides to repair and strengthen the skin barrier. I think it's great for eczema prone skin, cracked lips, cracked heels, really cuticles, anything cracked. It's not going to burn your skin. It is lanoline free and fragrance free, making it a really safe choice for even the most sensitive skin. The key ingredients are petrolatum to help seal in moisture and protect the skin barrier, ceramides which help restore the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss, as well as hyaluronic acid that will hydrate and improve skin texture."

"If your skin is extra dry and you just don't feel like after you apply this moisturizer on it's enough, consider applying a coat of petrolatum on top. These are things like Vaseline, Aquaphor, or CeraVe Healing Ointment, and Aquaphor even comes in a spray bottle that you can put directly on top of that cream to provide extra protection. It's sealing in that moisture and preventing epidermal water loss."

"Aquaphor Healing Ointment is a petroleum-based ointment with added humectants for hydration and barrier repair. It has a lightweight texture, absorbs easily without a sticky feel. It contains panthenol, which is B5, and glycerin to soothe and protect. One note: Aquaphor does contain lanoline or lanoline alcohol, which is a derivative of lanoline. While it's safe for most people, a small percentage of the population will have sensitivity or even allergy to lanoline. So if you're using something like this and you're having a reaction, it could be that you're sensitive to the lanoline."

"The Aquaphor Healing Ointment is a petroleum-based ointment with some added humectants for hydration and barrier repair. It has a really lightweight texture that absorbs pretty easily without any sticky feeling. The key ingredients in the Aquaphor are petrolatum with panthenol, or vitamin B5, and it also has glycerin to help soothe and protect. One thing to note is that Aquaphor does contain lanoline alcohol, which is a derivative of lanoline. While most of the population is going to be just fine, if you're somebody who's been using Aquaphor and you're still sensitive or allergic to something, maybe switch to Vaseline, which doesn't contain the lanoline."

"I love this. Love it. Even though it's a jar, super fancy little applicator right here. So cute. It smells really nice. This one has the Galactomyces ferment filtrate base. It's really lightweight. It feels like you feel like a million bucks when you put it on. It's really ideal for those warmer months because it's lightweight. It's completely oil-free if you're somebody who's acne prone or you're worried about that. It hydrates without clogging your pores. So it's perfect for that combination oily skin or even acne prone skin. Helps balance the skin and control oil while also maintaining that optimal hydration so you don't end up with oily but flaky skin. It absorbs really quick. Leaves you really fresh, kind of dewy a little bit, but not greasy at all. I really like it under makeup. The key ingredient here is the Japanese wild rice and Hyaluronic Acid."

"I'm borderline obsessed with this. I do find that it's ideal for the warmer months thanks to its really lightweight oil-free formula or if you're somebody who has like combination oily skin. This Tatcha Water Cream is just pure perfection. It delivers that boost of hydration without clogging pores. It's really good for oily, combination, even acne prone skin. It helps balance the skin and helps control excess oil, but also hydrates at the same time. You don't end up with like that tight, flaky skin. It absorbs super quick, leaves your skin fresh, dewy, not greasy. I put it on top of my vitamin C, let it dry, and then SPF goes on top. So, if you find that maybe you're using SPF on top of moisturizer, your SPF's rolling off, maybe you don't have the right moisturizer, this one's like perfect underneath your SPF or makeup spring, summer, or even like all year if you have oily skin. The key ingredients here are the Japanese wild rice and Hideaci 3."

"The In Beauty Project Extreme Cream I have honestly been obsessed with this lately. It really hydrates while targeting the loss of collagen elastin and helps firm the skin. It will support collagen and elasticity for that long-term anti-aging benefits. It works really well for that dry mature skin. The key ingredients are peptides the bioretinol and the ceramides. This one feels really nice. It's buttery soft."

"I am currently using the extreme cream um from In Beauty Project. Again, this one's a little bit thicker, a little bit more hydrating. Um and it has peptides and amino acids. It's going to help brighten and tighten a little bit."

It just melts into my skin, removes all traces of makeup, eye makeup, SPF, anything from my skin that I've collected throughout the day is going to be melted off with it. The key point with the cleansing balm is to make sure to apply it to dry skin, lather it in really good, and then wipe it off and wash it with water. The key ingredients in this one is the English rose oolio extract, the elderberry oil, the padina pavonica. It's my go-to for the cleansing balm. It's a must try."

"This is the Elmus Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. It's pricey. $72 for 100 ml jar. That's not cheap, okay? But it is luxurious. This balm to oil texture that literally melts away your makeup, your SPF, all the junk from your face. It leaves your skin super soft, smooth, hydrated, not greasy, not tight. The key ingredients here are the English rose oolio extract, the elderberry oil, and padina pavonica. It's more than just a makeup remover. For me it's like a ritual. I love the smell. I love the feel. You apply it to dry skin. The way it goes on, the way it smells, the way it cleans. It's just something special for me. The Elmus has this really rich texture, the nourishing oils, has this aroma therapy level scent. I really like scents in some of the skincare, which is really an experience for me. So if you want your cleanser to feel like a mini spa moment, this one's worth the price for that purpose. But is it going to clean better than a less expensive option? No, it is not."

If you're going to get Garnier, it's the one with the paint cap. I obviously love this, it's almost out, so I'll just put this on a cotton round and kind of wipe my face, especially get around the eyes to make sure I remove all that night skincare routine. I always make sure I go down my neck and chest."

"My favorite and super affordable is Garnier Micellar Water, the one with the pink cap is what I use. It's only in about $10 range. It will gently remove makeup, even eye makeup, even mascara. You just have to hold it when you put it on your cotton round on your eyelashes for a little bit to pull the mascara off and then wipe it off. It does a fantastic job. It's good for sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin, all skin types really. And no, it does not require any rinsing. Micellar water is intended to be left on your face. You don't really have to wash your face after using micellar water. The key ingredients in the micellar water are these little micelles that pick up the dirt. The way I explain this to my kids is like if you take the Swiffer and you wipe the dry dust, it just sucks it up. That's really what micelles in the micellar water do to the dirt on your skin. They just suck it up into that cotton pad that you just used, leaving your skin clean and smooth. There's also a little bit of Glycerin in it."

"My first recommendation here is going to be the OG Vaseline, the original healing jelly. This is 100% petrolatum, the gold standard occlusive, recommended by dermatologists worldwide. It is about as pure as it gets. It is probably one of the most inert things that you can put on your skin. It locks up to 99% of skin's natural moisture. It is completely fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, safe for even eczema-prone skin. And I love it because it creates this protective seal to prevent that transepidermal water loss. So you are getting to the core of eczema treatment. It also helps soothe cracked healing lips if you have any cuticles that are cracked, if you have any heels that are cracked. And this stuff will not burn. Even if you apply it to the most sensitive cracked open skin, it will not burn or irritate your skin. For eczema, I love it on top of serums or moisturizers for that added protection. You're going to have damp skin, apply your moisturizer with ceramides and then apply this on top to kind of seal in that moisture."

It's one of the most refined glow SPFs on the market with that texture and shade range that flatters across skin tones and works seamlessly under makeup. If you have a particular skin tone and dry skin and you want something that's going to go perfectly under makeup and budget is not an option, choose your girl."

"For me, the Super Goop Glow Screen is the SPF 40. Retails for about $38 for 1.7 oz. If you're somebody who's more on the dry side, you might like the Glow Screen a little bit better to be honest. But it is chemical, not mineral. It did not irritate my skin though at all, even though I have rosacea. This is glowy. It keeps your skin really hydrated and almost acts as a primer for makeup. It gives you like this radiant finish. It's broadspectrum SPF protection. It's perfect for those dewy skin days. Works beautifully under makeup or if you want it by itself in place of makeup. It uses that encapsulated retinol, which means it's going to be more slowly released and less irritating to the skin. It works deep in the skin to treat and prevent breakouts, but it can also increase sun sensitivity, which is why it should always be used at night. It's best for persistent breakouts, hormonal acne, and acne-prone skin adjusting to long-term treatment. You only want to use this at night time after cleansing and before moisturizer. Start 2-3 nights a week and only increase if your skin is not too dry, peely, or irritated. The key ingredient here is the 0.1% adapalene, which is the highest concentration of a retinoid that does not require prescription, at least in the United States. It helps regulate skin cell turnover to prevent clogged pores and treat your acne."

"Adapalene is a type of retinoid that helps prevent clogged pores. It calms down inflammation. It will also help fade some of those post acne dark spots over time. It works deep in the skin to treat and prevent breakouts. It can also increase sun sensitivity, which is why it's always important to use this at night and wear your SPF every single morning. I love adapalene for any type of acne, any persistent breakouts, hormonal acne, clogged pores, any type of acne. The best time to use it is at night time after cleaning your skin and before moisturizing. Wash your face, dry completely, take a pea-size amount of Differin gel, dot it, spread it avoiding the eyes, and then let it dry completely. Then apply a moisturizer on top. Do this two to three nights a week for a few weeks, making sure your skin is not dry, peely, or irritated, and then if you're tolerating it, go ahead and increase it. If you slather it all over your face every single night, odds are in a week you're going to say you're allergic to it, but you're not, you're just developing normal side effects. In order to minimize those side effects, you really need to do either the sandwich method or just the Differin gel with the moisturizer on top and increase gradually and not go straight to every single night. Adapalene 0.1% gel was once prescription and now it's over-the-counter. It's the highest concentration of a retinoid that does not require prescription and it's available over the counter. Retinoids help regulate cell turnover to prevent clogged pores and that is the best way to treat your acne."

"For scarring, retinoids like adapalene are best for acne scars. It also helps fine lines and texture. They work by speeding up cell turnover so they gradually improve and fade the texture and discoloration. Differin Gel has the active ingredient adapalene."

"Differin Gel has the 0.1 adapalene. It's a retinoid that helps prevent clogged pores, calm inflammation, fade post acne marks and spots over time, but it also helps work deep in the skin to treat and prevent some of the breakouts. And just like all the other retinols and retinoids, it can increase sun sensitivity. So, you always want to make sure you wear SPF in the morning. I love Differin Gel for persistent breakouts, hormonal acne, acne prone skin, or maybe even like combination to oily skin. It is a little bit more potent than the retinoids we talked about earlier in the video. So, make sure you only use a pea size amount. Only start two to three nights per week for maybe 3 to 4 weeks. Moisturize on top. If you have no peeling irritation, you can increase that frequency to 5 to seven nights a week. But if you're developing irritation, try adding a moisturizer underneath your Differin Gel to kind of buffer it a little bit."

"If you're somebody who suffers from acne you need to start a Differin gel now. Apply an amount of Differin gel and cover your entire face at bedtime. This is a retinoid that used to be prescription now it's over the counter. Rather hop in the shower, wash it off really good, and then use your barrier creams like La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm on top to help heal that barrier."

"I do like this in a mask form rather than a cleanser because mask is going to be more of a leave on so you have higher contact time compared to cleanser. The Peter Thomas Roth mask doesn't have that nasty smell it actually smells pretty good to me. You apply it leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse off it does not leave any residual smell whatsoever. The key benefits of sulfur is that it will help control the oil minimize clogged pores and reduce the shine it's also antibacterial so will help with acne as well as yeast and Demodex mites that we often get on our faces. If you suffer from acne seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff or rosacea it is ideal for oily and acne prone skin. If your skin is normal to combination I think you're still okay to try this mask however if your skin is sensitive you may want to do like a patch test before you use it on your entire face. The Peter Thomas Roth mask contains sulfur 10% which will help minimize the oil clear the clogged pores and its antibacterial properties will help with acne it also contains kaolin and Bentonite Clays which help draw impurities out from the pores further increasing the potency of the mask and aloe vera which will soothe and hydrate a little bit so you don't get too much irritation."

"Pimple patches are everywhere now, they're easy to find. You can find some with salicylic acid, with Tea Tree oil, or just plain hydrocolloid ones, hydrocolloid ones are my favorite. Neutrogena has some really nice ones. Put them on before you go to bed after you wash your face, sleep with them. You will be surprised how that pimple has shrunk overnight."

"I'm personally using the RoC retinol eye cream just because pigmentation's not so much of an issue for me. I wanted my main ingredient to be retinol and I really trust RoC around my eyes. I have very sensitive eyes and ocular rosacea, so RoC retinol eye cream does a better job for me."

"My other eye cream I use very often and I'm on probably third or fourth bottle just recently is the RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream. If I want something really more focused on fine lines and texture, I'll use this retinol eye cream instead. It's a really nice option because it gives you the benefit of a retinoid, but it's formulated for the eyes, so it's not going to cause too much dryness like your tretinoin would."

"I would repurchase this again in a heartbeat. At night time I prefer eye cream with retinol. This is a little bit on the pricier end. It also contains alpha hydroxy acids in addition to retinol, so if your skin is super sensitive I wouldn't recommend it. I personally haven't had a problem with it. It will help build collagen, elastin, and tighten the delicate skin around the eyes."

I can still apply my moisturizer on top without feeling like there's anything underneath. If you're very dry and you want the lightest hydration but still somewhat hydration, she's your girl. This will prep my skin, boost my hydration, makes my actives almost feel like a little bit better going on. It will hydrate, it will plump a little bit. It makes it look kind of radiant, not too dewy, not too shiny, and it helps my subsequent steps absorb and work a little bit better. The key ingredients in this one are the Aikita rice, the Okinawa algae, and the uji green tea."

"I like their essence. It's really lightweight, absorbs really quickly. It preps my skin for the serums and treatments that follow. It kind of helps boost your skincare treatment with its 100% Hadasei, it's like a trio of fermented Japanese superfoods. They're going to help hydrate, resurface, soften, and plump your skin. I just really like it. It helps me hydrate and plump the skin. I apply my vitamin C on top of it. It really helps prep the skin for my next step. It helps improve some of the absorption of the other products in your routine as well. So if you're somebody perimenopausal or postmenopausal, this might be a good one to introduce. The key ingredients here are the Akita rice, the Okinawa algae, and the Uji green tea."

"I'm hooked on it. This is probably my third bottle, none of it was sent to me, I've actually purchased them all myself. I love it because it will hydrate but not make it too oily for my combination to oily skin. It has no smell whatsoever. Yes, it's slimy a bit, but it really helps repair and regenerate the skin. My acne prone skin is really calm after applying it. It's something that if I'm trying new skincare and develop irritation, I stop everything and just go back to it. My skin heals beautifully. The ingredients in this are 96% snail secretion filtrate, and it also has sodium hyaluronate, which is hyaluronic acid, which will help plump the skin. But you do need to have hydration in your skin, so if you apply your essence first and then this on top, your skin is beautiful and hydrated. You're going to wake up with plump skin the next day."

"I love this so much that this year for all my besties I purchased them all my faves for their birthdays and this was one of the things that was in all my faves category. I love this snail mucin. I know it sounds gross and I am personally disgusted by snails for some reason but then again I have no trouble putting this on my face. It comes out really slimy, it does not smell like anything, it dries really quick and it does so well hydrating my skin. So if I have ever throughout the year overdone it on a products, maybe went a little too hard with my tret, developed periocular dermatitis or any sort of irritation on the skin, I just go back to my trusted snail mucin. I use it twice a day and my skin calms out immediately. If you're super dry, I don't think this alone does amazing at hydrating. I'll go through a couple moisturizers that I love using on top of this in the winter months, but it is so soothing, it calms down my acne, helps with irritation and helps heal my barrier."
