"Lasers can be extremely effective for both sunspots and melasma. Today's picosecond lasers, such as Picosure, are among the most advanced options, with impressive results and relatively minimal downtime. [...] I got Picosure laser done to treat my own melasma. But I usually recommend considering lasers after you've done other simpler treatments first, because sometimes the answer isn't a $2,000 laser treatment."

"There is a new FDA approved medication that is a prescription and comes on a cloth that you can apply over your hands and feet called Qbrexza. This may be a much easier option than getting needles poked into your hands and feet dozens of times, so if you have got issues with sweating of your hands and feet, ask your dermatologist first about the Qbrexza cloth. If that does not quite do it for you, then injections of Botox may be your next best option for the armpit."

"Beef tallow is filled with healthy fats, fats that are anti-inflammatory. Plus, it can be quite moisturizing to your skin and it has a lot of healthy vitamins for your skin. So, beef tallow isn't necessarily bad for the skin, but it's also not necessarily anything that will technically deage your skin. Beef tallow can be a great moisturizer, and if you like it and you don't mind smelling a little bit like a burger, then it's okay to apply it on your skin. But a couple of caveats to that. Number one, beef tallow can be comedogenic. So, if you have a history of acne, then be careful with it and make sure that you're tolerating it fine and it's not causing breakouts. Beef tallow can eventually go rancid. So, ideally, you want to go with a commercially prepared option. And the third thing is don't expect that beef tallow is going to create those changes that you're seeing in these people's skin. [...] While beef tallow can be an effective moisturizer for your skin, it's not something that's truly anti-aging like a retinol moisturizer or other actives."

"These treatments work as a serum that you apply to the surface of your skin and let dry into essentially a film that contracts as it dries, making the skin look and feel tighter. It's kind of like if you put Elmer's glue on your skin and let it dry, it does feel like it shrinks and tightens that skin up underneath. One of the most popular versions of these instant tightening creams is from Peter Thomas Roth, and they had a video that went viral on TikTok showing the amazing results you can get from a cream like this. These may be great if you've got a wedding to go to or a class reunion or a hot date, but keep in mind that these results do fade away oftentimes within just a couple hours after that. You have to reapply it or you have to leave so they don't see how you really look. It's also important to realize that these creams will not permanently reduce the aging or permanently tighten up your skin. Sometimes these creams don't work very well if you're wearing makeup over them."

"Softwave uses ultrasound energy to heat the skin but it does it in a fractional pattern. There's a lot of online hype about this treatment, but the question is is it superior to other therapies. A lot of doctors are on board with being big fans of Softwave, but it is kind of the new treatment on the block. [...] If you have darker skin colors, then this may be the best treatment for non-invasive skin tightening for you because some of the other treatments can cause issues with pigmentation problems in people with darker skin."

"There are several animal studies that do show that when animals take rapamycin they tend to live longer and healthier. Now because rapamycin is a generic drug unfortunately there will probably be very few studies on rapamycin and anti-aging because no drug company is going to fund this. But there are biohackers who are using rapamycin as a way to potentially prolong their lives. I'm not recommending it for the general population just yet. It's only available as a prescription and at this point we still need to learn more about rapamycin to be sure that this truly is an anti-aging drug, but the promise is definitely there."

"There are other fillers that I am definitely not a fan of and these are the permanent or near-permanent fillers such as Bellafill, Radiesse, and silicone. Now while these fillers may get you the result you're looking for at least initially, my concern is if you develop a complication. If you let's say have too much filler injected, how do you get rid of them? With hyaluronic acid fillers there is an antidote called hyaluronidase which is an enzyme that can melt that filler away, some of it within literal seconds. [...] The problem is if you have one of these permanent or semi-permanent non-HA fillers and you get a complication like this, then you're basically just kind of screwed. You can do supportive treatments like warm compresses, like Neosporin ointment, like hyperbaric oxygen, but if you've got an intravascular occlusion and you have a part of your face that's not getting enough blood supply because that filler has clogged up that blood vessel, there's no antidote to remove that filler from the blood."

"Melanotan is an injectable substance that can cause the body to create more melanin making the skin look darker this is real pigment. For me it don't work so well. The interesting thing about melanotan is that technically now what people use to darken their skin is called melanotan 2 and this is actually a black market product it is not available for use in Europe Canada or the United States it's not technically legal for use yet people are injecting it under their skin as a way to make their skin darker there are major risks that can be associated with this injection including skin cancer. It's in a testing phase so it sounds like they're getting experimental melanotan 2 type of injections which is something you should definitely stay away from. I don't think I'm going to wake up and going oh no I need to go back very soon. I'm going to stay black this is so wrong that I honestly don't really have much more to say about this other than just don't do it."

"If he has some of that filler melted away from his lips, if that filler was from hyaluronic acid, he may notice that those nerves can rebound a bit. The good thing with nerves is that they can regenerate. They can regenerate very, very slowly, but they can regenerate. It's just that they've been literally killed off, which could be a major problem for him. So stopping the filler and melting some of it away is what I would also recommend."

"The Foreo Bear is a microcurrent device that uses a very small electrical charge to stimulate the smooth muscles under your skin to lift and tighten up. [...] By using this electrical current you can stimulate the smooth muscles to contract underneath the surface of the skin causing the skin to look tighter and lifted, and the results can actually be pretty impressive from these devices. [...] If you want to turn back the clock by five years or so literally in the span of a short at-home treatment then these devices could definitely be worth your while."

"Crest White Strips are little strips that you put over your front teeth that contain hydrogen peroxide and typically wear them for about 30 minutes and you do it every single day for about 10 to 14 consecutive days and every day when you look at your teeth you're going to see that they look just a little bit whiter. They've also come out with Express whitening where it's basically a white strip that is extra strong and you wear it for literally just an hour and you can see results immediately afterwards. They use hydrogen peroxide which is very commonly used for whitening of the teeth and it definitely works. They even have a complete system that you can buy that combines the express white with the regular whitening and LED whitening that's a type of light therapy for optimal results. If you've got staining of your teeth from let's say old smoking habits from drinking too much coffee or tea then this can definitely help with your teeth."

"Renuvion is a minimally invasive surgical option to help tighten up the neck. If you've got some loose skin of your neck maybe even a little bit of extra fat, it can be removed using Renuvion. This is a minimally invasive operation where you make a little incision under the chin and you use a special probe to go underneath the skin to heat up the deeper skin. These are real surgeries that may take half hour to an hour or so and you do get some modest tightening of that skin as well as some reduction of fat. The amount of tightening that you can get with it is definitely not the same as a facelift but it is more than non-invasive treatments like Morpheus."

"This is not a laser that you can feel, it's called a cold laser because it does not generate heat. Now there are many laser helmets out there and laser combs and other similar devices, but after doing my research I decided on the iRestore Pro laser helmet, which has 282 diodes, and after using it for a couple years I recently upgraded to the new iRestore Elite laser helmet, and this has 500 diodes. I will warn you that these laser helmets are very pricey, but if you want to try it out there's a link in the caption below to check it out."

"One device that does this is the CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Growth Helmet. [...] The CurrentBody helmet contains 120 LEDs that emit a spectrum of red light that research shows can optimally penetrate the scalp and stimulate hair follicles. This range of light has been shown to support hair growth and scalp health. The helmet comes in two different sizes, and many users see stronger, denser, healthier hair in about 12 weeks. In fact, one study showed a 123% increase in hair growth. You can also combine red light therapy with topical treatments, or you can use it on its own. And as you can see from these before and after results, the improvements can be impressive. The treatments are also incredibly convenient because you can do them at home in complete privacy. Wearing the helmet is easy and you can even multitask while using it. It's FDA cleared, HSA and FSA eligible."

"The light is absorbed by the hair follicle resulting in thinner hair regrowth. It has dual light technology for stronger, faster, and more effective results. You can get visible results in just two weeks, and its next generation ice cooling technology makes the treatment nearly painless and super safe. "I started using the iRestore Professional Hair System about a year ago now and it treats the majority of my scalp. "The gold standard topical treatment for thinning hair is Minoxidil, better known as Rogaine. Now, it used to be prescription only, but now it's available over the counter, and you can even get it on Amazon or at Costco. It comes in both serum and foam versions, but I recommend the foam, and I actually use the foam myself everyday. And here's a great tip from the dermatologist, Dr. Shireen Idris: you can apply it using a toothbrush to get more of it onto your scalp and less of it on your hair where it won't do anything. Now, it can take around four months or more to see a noticeable change, but I encourage you to stick with it. It works. And keep in mind that Minoxidil is toxic to cats and dogs."

I cannot believe that this actually worked. Head and Shoulders cleared my skin in 3 days. So, is this something that you should try? Well, only if you have real fungal acne. It's true that Head and Shoulders can treat that type of fungal acne, but technically, once again, it's not like the acne that you're used to."

Like other Nutrafol products it can take many months, four maybe six months, to see a result from this treatment so you really have to be patient. But I've heard from many many patients who swear by their Nutrafol and I definitely recommend combining an oral supplement like Nutrafol with other modalities and topical treatments like low light laser therapy, like serums and these types of things so you're thickening your hair from many different directions."

"I would give exosome serums right now an eight out of ten. Exosomes really are the future of skincare. These are essentially little messenger packets that will cause your skin to act in a certain way. Right now, we're kind of in the infancy, I think, of exosome serums in that they can help reduce redness, possibly improve fine lines, but I think we've got a lot in the future that exosomes can do. A lot of patients post treatment that use it say they feel like their skin heals a lot quicker, but that also is maybe attributing to the anti-inflammatory, getting rid of redness. I think it's the future. But I would knock one or two off because they're damn expensive. But it's replacing some other stuff if you look at it like that. So we carry the Plated exosomes in the office and you've seen some patients who've used that."

"Even better than trying the retinol sandwich if you're sensitive to retinoids is Clarins Double Serum. This is one of the best retinol alternative serums. It contains organic Harungana extract, which is a gentler alternative to retinol that performs like retinol but without the irritation. In a 56 day comparative head to head study versus retinol, Clarins Double Serum achieved very comparable results. In addition to the instant benefits of comfortable, hydrated, and smoother skin, after one month over 90% of users found improved skin texture, firmer skin, and less visible wrinkles. "Triple Paste is a zinc oxide based cream, a diaper rash cream, and zinc oxide is gold. It will help repair your face and heal your skin while locking in hydration. If you've got really dry irritated skin, zinc oxide which is the main component in Triple Paste is a good occlusive and it can help to improve that dryness, that real irritated unhappy type of skin that you may have. "While the treatment did make my skin feel smoother and look a lot brighter, did it heal my acne scars and large pores? I would say no unfortunately. The treatment is almost three hundred dollars, so if you're doing three or four peels that's three or four weeks total of downtime, and that is a lot for people. There's got a little too much downtime. But I do believe chemical peels are pretty good value for your buck. They're better value than laser treatments that can get you a similar result."

These products are very effective because they act kind of like Elmer's glue as they dry on your skin, leaving a very thin film that constricts and causes puffiness to be less visible.
