No BS Beauty has looked at more than 20 body and tan products, and she approved most of them. Her approval rate sits at 69%, with only a small number of mixed takes and a handful of skips. She tends to be practical and direct, which makes her record on this category genuinely useful.

What does No BS Beauty recommend in body & tan?

She keeps coming back to actives that do real work on the body, especially retinoids and glycolic acid. On the Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Body Lotion she points out that retinol is one of the most studied anti-aging ingredients around, helping with collagen and firmness. On the Drunk Elephant TLC Glycolic Body Lotion she notes that glycolic acid also supports collagen, and that you need to use it regularly over the long term to see results, not just for a few weeks. The practical point she keeps making: apply retinoid body products carefully around sensitive spots like elbows and underarms, and a few times a week rather than daily. She also rated the Verso Firm Ground Retinol Body Lotion on the same basis, and gave the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Hand Cream high marks for texture and its usefulness on dry patches and post-treatment skin. For everyday washing and moisturising, the Necessaire Eucalyptus Body Wash and Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion both earned her approval.

In her words

"This is the Versed Press Restart retinol body lotion, or just generally any retinoid lotion. This one I like it's 18 bucks, it's fragrance-free, just a nice body lotion with retinol. Retinol is one of the most studied anti-aging ingredients that exists, if not [...] the most, and it helps with collagen production deep down in skin. It helps firm up skin. You don't necessarily need to apply this everywhere."
"This one I've repurchased, I think, since the first came out, the Necessaire Body Wash. It's really non-drying and a little bit of sudsy, which is nice, to the point where I repurchased it. I will say this is unscented but it does have lemon extract in it, which is kind of a fragrance ingredient, but it's not like lemon oil and this has no scent. There's a difference between unscented and fragrance free. This would be unscented but not fragrance free because of that lemon extract."
"The CLA is all over Supple preparation lotion this stuff is really nice quick quick cuz it's light you can apply it pretty quick and get it done"
"The Verso brand is great, it's got retinoids in here so this is something you could use a few times a week. [...] I would use this maybe a couple times a week depending on how sensitive your skin is and be very cautious with certain areas, especially like around your elbows, inside that's very sensitive skin, underneath your armpits that gets very sensitive so be cautious about applying too much."
"I really liked it. [...] The cream is definitely a little bit thicker and things like that but it feels super nice on your skin. [...] Lovely texture, a little goes a long way, sets to a kind of radiant natural finish that's really not that sticky. Great for dry patches, dry skin, eczema areas, and after laser treatments. I've only had a couple laser treatments for my aesthetician but the next one I'm, I'm glad I remembered I had this."
"This one is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost body lotion, it's 14 bucks, it's just a fragrance-free gel body lotion, works great. Lately what I've been doing is I have been using a body serum, I mix my copper peptides into this from Costabaja and I apply this over my whole body for anti-aging and firming, and then I finish up with this one for hydration."

How many body and tan products has No BS Beauty reviewed?

No BS Beauty has reviewed 30 body and tan products, for an approval rate of 70%. 21 approved, 3 mixed, and 6 skipped.

What has No BS Beauty skipped in body & tan?

A few of her skips come down to shrinking bottles at the same price. She flagged that Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash dropped from 34 oz to 30 oz, with some sizes going from 24 oz to 22 oz, and the packaging was designed to look bigger even when less product was inside. Suave Moisturizing Body Lotion went from 32 oz down to 18 oz at the same price, which undercuts the whole point of buying an economical brand. On Dial Antibacterial Hand Soap her concern was the formula itself: too many harsh antibacterial agents and too much fragrance. And on Gold Bond Age Renew Crepe Corrector Body Lotion, she said she had been hearing about it a lot lately and found that suspicious.

What should you take from No BS Beauty's picks?

No BS Beauty is a practical guide to this category. She is most enthusiastic about products that use proven actives like retinol and glycolic acid, and she is clear that those take time and steady use to pay off. Her skips are worth reading too, whether that is harsh hand soaps, or bottles that quietly got smaller.
