It says essence but this is always the last step in my routine, so I'll glide this over my face and then I'll gently rub and tap this into my face like a moisturizer. It'll rub in so it actually penetrates the skin. So unlike slugging it's not just sat on the skin. But I love it, I love it. I've got backups of this. This is one of very few products I buy backups of because I just know one day I'm going to hit the bottom of it."
