What the gurus are saying

This toner's distinctive feature is its watery, pourable texture that sinks instantly, making it particularly well-suited to oily skin. Gurus praise its gentle calming effect, finding it reduces redness and inflammation from breakouts while the matcha brings out skin's resilience and healthiness. The formula is hydrating enough to work as both toner and essence, so some have replaced their separate essence with this alone.

"I had had my eye on this for a while, it's a newer release from them, but I had had such bad luck with the other Tirtir Milk Skin products dating back to 2024 that had actually irritated my sensitive skin. I'm a sucker for green tea and matcha is a very concentrated version of green tea leaves, so I wanted to try it. [...] I like this one. I like this one a lot. It wasn't my plan to replace the Innisfree essence but it just naturally started to become a big part of all my skincare routines. [...] This is very, very watery, very runny, there's none of that gel-like bouncy plumpness to the texture, there's really no body to this, it's incredibly runny, watery, very pourable, and it sinks into the skin instantly. This is very much like a watery, hydrating toner with just a hint of milk. [...] I would still recommend this for oily skin types, that's how little moisture there is in this. There is a gentle calming factor to this, it absolutely reduces redness, it's great if you have some pimples on your skin because it will bring down the redness and the inflammation. There's a general soothing quality to this, and the green tea brings out that healthiness to your complexion, reduces redness, makes your skin look and feel a little bit more resilient and [...] rejuvenated overall. [...] There's enough benefits to this that I'm fine skipping out on a separate essence, it's hydrating enough that it works as a toner and an essence for me, especially in this heat and humidity."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
