What the gurus are saying

This mandelic acid serum strikes a gentle balance, with the pH properly calibrated around 3 for the active to work effectively. Those who can't handle stronger exfoliating acids may find it a good fit, though others might want something more potent and could see better results by using it a couple of times a week rather than daily. The watery texture makes it easy to layer.

"I think for most people, we could reach for something a little bit more potent. Use it a couple of times a week and you'll get better results. If you're somebody that can't tolerate exfoliating acids, this might be a great one. It's got mandelic acid in, which is super gentle. It's got PHAs, which are the most gentle exfoliants. It's great. But I think for beginners, for super sensitive skin folk out there, this is amazing."

"Very lovely exfoliating product with a serum watery texture. It's got a pH of 3ish which is where you want it to be for mandelic acid so they did good on that."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.
