"This is the Ordinary Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution. This is fantastic, an allrounder. This is the one serum that I think everybody should have in their skincare routine. The NAG is pro collagen, so it's going to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and really add to an anti-aging skincare routine. That aloe is what's really doing the heavy lifting. It calms, it soothes, it reduces inflammation and irritation. And because they've actually used a super concentrated version of that aloe, you really get a supercharged set of results from it. This isn't the same as applying like aloe vera from your garden or from the health food store onto the skin. This is a supercharged version of it because it's so concentrated. One recent study actually showed that aloe, if applied consistently to the skin, can reduce premature aging by 9%. It fights hyperpigmentation quicker than a lot of budget luxury products and it hydrates you to the gods. This is a sort of product that you can just slot into your skincare routine morning and evening, forget you've even applied it, and just know that it's working for you. It soothes, it hydrates, evens out your skin tone, does it all for a really affordable price point. "In the three years that have come since the launch of this, we now have a whole suite of data to show how effective NAG is, particularly around boosting the plumpness and firmness of the skin and fading hyperpigmentation. Two of my key skin goals all in one ingredient that's in a good concentration here. I was wrong to be dismissive of it early on. I just wasn't excited by the formula. "This is one of those products just everybody should have in their skincare routine. It hydrates, it plumps, it nourishes, but most importantly, it turbocharges your hyperpigmentation routine. If you're somebody that's already using hyperpigmentation actives such as maybe vitamin C, tranexamic acid, alpha, all the good stuff, use this to just turbocharge it. It's super gentle, so even the most sensitive skin can absolutely use it. They've really thought about the formula of this one because they've actually taken the aloe vera that forms part of this and really broken down the individual components of it to add them in a concentrated way. "I have been loving for so so long. You get 2% concentration of NAG in here, and NAG is that key exfoliating ingredient. The Ordinary say that the way this works in terms of exfoliation without the traditional chemical exfoliants, those acids, is that it actually prevents some of the glue which sticks old dead skin cells onto the gorgeous radiant skin beneath it. It actually prevents that glue sticking to those dead skin cells, which makes it a lot easier to just be washed away and exfoliated. This is subtly different to how chemical exfoliants normally work. So take glycolic acid, what that actually does is break apart that glue, that bond, breaks it apart which releases those dead skin cells. This prevents those dead skin cells from sticking on in the first place."

"This is the ordinary aloe 2% plus NAG 2% serum, and let me tell you, this is the best skincare product bar none of 2023. It launched this year and it's absolutely wonderful. So the aloe in here is going to calm, soothe, reduce inflammation, and the NAG is going to just complement the rest of the products when it comes to reducing the rate of excess pigment production. "I've been trying to make my way through The Ordinary Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution, actually I made quite a dent in it. It's not really doing much for me but I think it can be beneficial for some people with hyperpigmentation, dark spots, discoloration. The ingredient N-acetyl glucosamine, it's actually very hydrating just by itself but it also may help with improving dark spots."

"I find it unusual that The Ordinary did not put niacinamide in the serum because NAG and acetyl glucosamine has been shown to be useful for fading hyperpigmentation and lightening dark spots when used in conjunction with niacinamide. They tackle different arms of the pigment pathway. I don't really see much of a difference with this product. I don't see enhanced skin luminosity, radiance, or anything."

That serum really does work as long as you are consistent with it, so perfect for those that have acne skin. NAG is a non-acidic alternative to, let's say, alpha hydroxy acid, so it's very gentle, perfect for all skin types, but it's not that true acid ingredient that could irritate your skin. Instead it's an amino acid sugar that hydrates the skin but also improves that uneven skin tone while brightening up the skin at the same time. The Ordinary is offering a 100 milliliter size, there is a 12 month shelf life once you've opened up the product. This has a glass style packaging, so not exactly ideal for those that are traveling, but I really do like the packaging. It looks very sleek and chic."

"This serum is designed for those that are blemish prone that have post acne marks, so those red pinky dark areas that are left behind once the blemish has healed. But even if you don't have post-acne marks and you have uneven skin tone where you have a few dark spots and you also have some texture, this serum is still going to be beneficial for you. I'm telling you this serum works. You can use this as an all over or you can just spot treat your problem areas. [...] It's a very gentle hydrating serum. It does have that 2% aloe, so perfect for all skin types including dry skin, but this also has that 2% NAG, and NAG stands for N-acetyl glucosamine, and this is the ingredient that will help to correct that uneven skin tone but also help with texture as well. [...] Using this serum by itself and being consistent with it, you will [...] see results because this really is a serum that works well and they did an excellent job formulating this one. It's not sticky, it's not tacky, it absorbs nicely, and it also sits great with other skincare products including sunscreen and makeup."

"This was designed as a serum suited for those that have discoloration and post-acne marks. I've been using this since I received it [...] pretty consistently, [...] and I will say that this really helps to reduce post-acne marks. It really does help to fade it a lot quicker and it really is a lovely serum to use if you have these skin concerns. There are some conflicts with this serum according to The Ordinary, so you don't want to be pairing this up with your direct acids like salicylic acid, glycolic, or lactic acid, any type of exfoliating ingredient. [...] You don't want to use this with vitamin C like L-ascorbic acid, Resveratrol plus ferulic acid. These are types of ingredients that you do want to stay away from. If you use these, you can still continue to use them, just don't use them in the same skincare routine as this serum. This is a very soothing product, especially if you do have blemish-prone skin. [...] To have that two percent aloe in here really does help to calm the skin and it really does help to reduce the redness of your blemish as well. I really like this. I feel like this is very unique."
