This one is also fluorescent yellow and it is the most expensive one on the list, but it's pretty nice. I really enjoy this one. I probably wouldn't repurchase it, but honestly to get the same effect, I could probably just use this and the retinol 10 or the prequel, a combo of them or whatever. "There's several acne genic ingredients in here and one of them my skin just did not agree with. So in terms of overall acne genic ingredients in here, that's a lot and it's not a very long ingredient list. So if you have acne prone skin, I might steer you more towards the one from Skin Fix. This one is coming upwards of 70 bucks. I'm kind of scared to use it. I'll continue to test it just on some areas of my face that aren't breakout prone. I have a feeling that Castor seed oil is going to be an issue for some people. The percentage of the retinaldehyde they used in this product was 0.116 percent. The research on this ingredient really comes from the manufacturer, and at this point they want to sell the ingredients so they're not going to say anything bad about it."

"My first several uses of this product were not fun at all. I really almost just totally quit using this one except for the fact I spent so much money on it. There's a little bit of a purging period with this one. But after the first five or six times I used it, my skin started to acclimate and appreciate it a little bit more. If you're prone to that, there's also some acnegenic ingredients. For what this product promises, it promises to support cell renewal, promote clear blemish-free skin with encapsulated retinol and adapalene and pomegranate peel, visibly improve texture and restore luminosity without irritation, I would agree with some of that. Although if acne is a main issue of yours, I might just recommend going with a different adapalene and not this product so much. Over time this will certainly help with wrinkles and fine lines and luminosity and things like that, but it may take some effort and some perseverance. For acne-prone skin, beware. There's a lot of ingredients that are iffy for acne-prone skin: Jojoba seed oil, squalene, polyglycerol-3 dioleate, vitamin A, glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol, castor seed oil, isopropyl myristate, and sorbitan oleate."

Although retinols in general are going to help you with your skin regeneration and renewal they don't disclose their percentages. This I know is stronger than a retinol even though the percent is not disclosed because it is a retinal and retinals tend to be more potent than retinols. This one has the percent disclosed so if you want to be, if you're a beginner and you just want to know what to try I would try this."

"[Paula's Choice] Pro Retinaldehyde Dual Retinoid Treatment. I've been using this consistently since 2024 and in the two plus years I've been using it, it has genuinely transformed my skin. The secret is the two retinoids. Retinaldehyde for collagen stimulation. This is great as a preventative strategy at 37. Keeping that collagen structure strong resists the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, but can also improve the look of existing ones. It also brightens up your skin and it helps to clean out your pores. The second retinoid is adapalene. This is a novel form of adapalene and this helps to further increase the benefits for clearing out the pores, addressing congestion and helping to meaningfully target inflammation on the skin. I am extremely grateful to this product, but I'm also just a very big fan of this product. This is a combination of retinaldehyde and then there's also a little touch of a novel form of adapalene which is another form of retinoid that is a little bit better adapted for skin that is more prone to acne. This is really the retinoid that I would recommend if you have skin like mine, if you are really looking for that additional benefit for clearing your skin with congestion and acne. "If I could only pick one skincare product that made the biggest difference to my personal skin this year, my MVP product, it would be this one. Gold star, Paula's Choice, you knocked it out of the park with this one. This does have retinaldehyde in it, 0.1% of retinaldehyde, which is an over-the-counter retinoid, but they do have an additional retinoid in here, so don't just latch on to that 0.1%. There's more to this product. They're using 0.16% of adapalene. It's a little bit of a newer version of that. Adapalene is another over-the-counter retinoid, but it's particularly good for targeting acne-prone skin. It does have all the well-aging benefits too, but it's particularly good at targeting congestion within the pores and inflammation as well. I've definitely struggled with congestion for a very long time and I've gotten to a good spot with tretinoin, but I did decide for a multitude of reasons to discontinue my tretinoin use in the springtime. I tried some other retinaldehyde products, but this is the one that I really landed on that really made the biggest difference in my skin. It's not just the retinaldehyde, it is the adapalene product that is the edge that really just took my skin from minor congestion."

Those things did clear up my skin, but this took it the extra mile. There's not that much of that novel form of adapalene in here, but just enough that really gives it that anti-inflammatory edge that is so important for my skin because for me it's mostly congestion that can sometimes turn into pimples. So controlling the inflammation really helps things not turn into pimples. "If you're getting that hyperpigmentation after that inflammatory event on your skin this could change things for you. This could break that cycle of all the inflammation and then the hyperpigmentation that you can't quite fade completely until the next cycle of inflammation comes around. For me personally this product broke that cycle and that's really what you're paying for with this product. There's two retinoids and it is reflected in that $68 price. I would caution anybody who's not suffering with those inflammatory events and that hyperpigmentation and that congestion and those pimples. If you just want a good retinoid product this is a good retinoid product but it may not be the best fit for you because you're not paying for that additional retinoid that you might not need in your routine. But if you are suffering through that cycle this would be amazing for you. It is a very potent, very advanced retinoid with two retinoids, so it may not be the best choice for folks who are just beginning that retinoid journey. You might want to start with a little bit more of a gentler formula and then work your way up to something like this.
