"The salicylic acid in this is going to help soften and exfoliate the excessive scale on the top of the skin. This has olive fruit oil in it which may have antioxidants in it. This product actually has ascorbic acid in it. You always have to question ascorbic acid because it's not stable, so manufacturers have to do stuff to stabilize it. Things like adding ferulic acid and or vitamin E can help, and the packaging helps. There's the issue with penetration, it has to be the right pH and the right concentration, but this is actually a pretty good drugstore option. It also has ceramides which are helpful for the moisture barrier. The ascorbic acid in this may actually be helpful for hyperpigmentation simply because it helps to inhibit tyrosinase, that plus niacinamide which works differently for hyperpigmentation is potentially a nice combination. The daytime version has niacinamide and then it also has the sunscreen in it to protect you from UV rays."
