What they liked

  • Spreads easily with minimal product needed
  • Hydrating oily base absorbs without residue
  • Lasts several months per tube

What they flagged

  • High price point at $93
  • Label peeling off the tube
  • May cause breakouts in reactive skin

What the gurus are saying

The lipid base earns consistent praise for making copper peptides absorb quickly and spread with minimal product needed, though the formula itself breaks out a small number of people and leaves skin noticeably oily overnight. Most gurus highlight fast results for fine lines and hydration, especially during winter, but note the $93 price tag is steep and the labeling peels off the tube. Those weighing in on texture report it works best as a nighttime treatment or mixed into moisturizer to avoid pilling with other products.

"I bought a couple of the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1%. I love this because daytoday I will use a waterbased copper peptide serum. They work absolutely fantastically, but when there's a sale on, I treat myself to this because I just love the feel of this product on my skin. This is a copper peptide in a lipid format, which is fairly unique and fairly rare. You don't see it a lot on the market, but those lipids will just help those copper peptides penetrate a little bit deeper. I find you get slightly quicker results with a lipid based copper peptide. [...] It gives you the nicest, smoothest skin. It's super hydrating. A little does go a long way. I use this to just turbocharge the results I get from copper peptides. [...] As soon as this arrives, I will use it continuously for like two months and [...] my skin has just enjoyed that little treat and it's just elevated some of the antiaging. I'm not going to be buying this full price, but with [...] the discount, my skin loves it."

No1 Anti Aging - TOP 10 PEPTIDE SERUMS 2025
"What this takes is an advanced form of copper peptides and formulates it within a lipid and oil base. So it's super easily absorbed into the skin. Those copper peptides really get to where they need to be in order to deliver maximum anti-aging. This works in one of the quickest times possible. [...] A little goes such a long way with this product. You only need a tiny bit. It spreads beautifully on the skin because of that lipid oil base and it just is amazing. It's hydrating, but it has a super high concentration of a potent form of copper peptides. This will work really quick for you. The only reason it's not higher up on this list is it does come with a high price point. So it's not going to be for everyone's budget. I would say this is the best option for people that aren't too worried about budget. They have money to splurge and they don't mind a higher price point product, but they want those quick wins and that advanced anti-aging."
NIOD SALE ANNOUNCED - Up To 50% Off 😱 (My NIOD Favourites)
"This is a copper peptide serum but in a lipid form and that's got so many additional benefits. It's [...] going to find it easier to get into the skin, deliver those copper peptides to where they need to be to boost collagen and elastin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles. But it also has some great barrier supporting benefits for the overall skin health. This product is also anti-inflammatory which over time can help minimize hyperpigmentation, has some potent antioxidant benefits too. [...] I've always used it intermittently because it does come with a high price point. I've [...] tried other copper peptide products but this is hands down the best on the market. This is my Holy Grail."
2 X FIRMER SKIN - The Best Copper Peptides #skincare
"The copper Amino Isolate Lipid [...] is like the ultimate when it comes to copper peptides. This will give you everything you need. It's got a great delivery mechanism to make sure that those copper peptides get exactly where they need to be to deliver the maximum results. It's stunningly hydrating and has a great dose of those copper peptides. I think altogether this is the best on the market because of its price. [...] It comes in a lipid base, which will appear a little oily on first application but sinks in and disappears. You only need to use a tiny tiny amount and it spreads beautifully on the skin, so that makes the application super easy. [...] This is probably going to give you the best and the quickest results in terms of copper peptides, but when it's not on sale that high price point might be a little bit prohibitive."
NIOD SALE ANNOUNCED - Up To 50% Off (My NIOD Favourites)
"This is one of the best formulated copper peptides you will ever find. It uses that lipid technology to make sure that those peptides get into the skin where they need to be in order to get maximum results, so you're getting like next level bang for your buck when it comes to these copper peptides. [...] A little goes such a long way, use the tiniest amount because when you spread it, it spreads beautifully on the skin. You don't need a lot to get those results. [...] One 15ml tube will probably last me somewhere in the region of about 2 to 2 and 1/2 months. [...] Despite the price point, it does deliver phenomenal results."
10/10 PERFECT SKINCARE - Best Skincare 2024
"This is the Copper Amino Isolate Lipid from NIOD. The reason I'm giving this 10 out of 10 is it's truly unique, has that high dose of copper peptides, but it also has a delivery mechanism that makes sure that every single one of them gets to where they need to be in the skin to deliver that anti-aging benefit. If you like copper peptides but you want to get a little bit more from them, this is kind of the product for you because it's a lipid base. It's also super hydrating, so in the winter my skin is a little more dry and a little bit more sensitive than usual, and this really helps with that. It hydrates you, gives you that dose of copper peptides for anti-aging, and it's truly phenomenal. The smallest amount spreads seamlessly on the skin, so one bottle will last you about three months. At full price this is definitely what I call a bougie skincare category, but for the gamechanging technology and copper peptides and a product that will last you a long time, I think this is worth it."
NIOD SALE ANNOUNCED - The Best From NIOD Skincare (23% Off)
"Every year I put one of these on order. My skin absolutely loves it. Drinks it up and after two months it's gone. [...] This year I put five on order [...] because my skin just adores it. It's always the first product to sell out in the November sale period. [...] The reason I love this is it's got a high potency copper peptide in a good concentration in a beautiful lipid formula. This spreads like butter on the skin. It hydrates. It's got anti-inflammatory properties. But that copper peptide is going to be pro collagen for the best anti-aging ever. It's very, very similar to other top products on the market, [...] but a fraction of the cost. You're paying half price, in fact with the sale even less than that, less than half price for what is a very similar product. So it's a great way to cut the cost without having to compromise on the outcomes."
ULTIMATE ANTI-AGING SKINCARE ROUTINE - My Evening Skincare Routine
"The NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid is next level. Copper peptides boost collagen and elastin production, they're antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, so if you notice in winter that your skin becomes more inflammation prone or more redness prone, a copper peptide will really help with that. Three drops covers the whole face and gives you the results you want without wasting any product. Your skin gets that collagen boosting benefit, and my skin already feels plumper and more hydrated from applying it."
10 Greatest ANTI AGING SERUMS - Skincare Awards 2025
"The best on the market is the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid. It's a little bit on the pricier side, which is why I only ever buy it during sales when there's that saving to be had. My skin loves it. I never want to be without it. [...] It's just a guaranteed collagen boost in a jar. Because it's in a lipid formulation, that technology means those peptides get to where they need to be more effectively, so you have less wastage. You only need a tiny amount of this product. Don't overdo it. It's lipid based, so it spreads like butter on the skin. [...] Put a tiny amount, dot it round, spread it in. It'll last longer that way and it'll still give you amazing results."
SUPERCHARGED ANTI AGING - The Perfect Peptide Serum
"This is a fantastic product because it's in a lipid formulation, which means that it finds it really easy to get into the skin to where it needs to be for those copper peptides to deliver all that great benefit. The technology in here is genuinely next level. So you're going to see some really quick and next level results. [...] It spreads beautifully, almost like butter, so you can really get an even application without having to use a lot of product. This is an advanced formulation that uses lipid technology to enhance the penetration of those copper peptides. You're getting a lot of bang for your buck with this one, for sure. [...] However, it is fairly delicate, so you're going to want to think about how you layer and pair it. [...] I probably say avoid using it alongside high strength exfoliating acids and other low pH products such as vitamin C's."
COLLAGEN DOESNT WORK - 4 Skincare Ingredients For Firmer Skin ( How To Boost Collagen )
"You could reach for traditional copper peptides which I absolutely love, something like this, the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1%. I covered copper peptides in an entirely separate video which I'm going to leave a link to up there, definitely one to check out because I think that copper peptides are the best studied and the best understood of the collagen promoting peptides out there."

Global BESTSELLING SKINCARE 2026 - Rating Most Purchased Skincare
"The lipid is honestly the best product that NIOD do. Hands down, no competition. I love this. My skin just loves it. This is one of my favorite copper peptide options. It really does add multiple levels of hydration to the skin because of its lipid formula and the technology they use in this actually means that the majority of those copper peptides get to where they need to be in order to deliver the results. We often have a lot of copper peptide wastage because not all of them will actually get to where they need to be in order to work. The technology that NIOD employs with the lipid formula means that you minimize that wastage so you're going to maximize the outcomes. Yes, it is a little bit on the more expensive side of things, but honestly, it is the very best."

Skincare I've Changed My Mind On & Why - Products I Used to Hate That Now I Enjoy
"I really hated this at first and my skin freaked out from it and broke out a little bit, and I'm not sure exactly what changed, but when they had their sale I bought two of them and I recently just finished one up and I really enjoy it now. I use it a little bit differently than I did the first time. Now I use it as the very last step of my evening routine on my face and neck, and whenever I used it before my skin would freak out and break out from it, and now I don't have those same issues. I love copper peptides and this stuff as my last step kind of like a sleeping mask works pretty nicely."
Copper Peptides - All About GHK-Cu - Best Copper Peptide Serums - How to Use
"The NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid is one of the few products that just my skin breaks out to. It hates it. I repurchased it, thought I'd give it another try during the NIOD sale, and same thing. The first time I tried it was a couple years ago, maybe things have changed, maybe it was a fluke, but I tried it again and same thing. So I tried it twice, I'm not trying a third time, because now I know it just doesn't agree with my skin. Something about the formula does not agree with my skin. There's only one other real product that ever breaks me out, and that is 100% pure squalane oil. Everything else I'm good to go, but those two things, something in them my skin just doesn't like."
My Favorite Peptides - Peptides You Want in Your Skincare Routine & Product Favorites
"The NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid is lovely, it's got squalane in there, blue-green algae. It's really nice, it's expensive though. I didn't realize it had crept up to $93 when I reviewed it initially. I believe it was $73 four years ago, so obviously the price has crept up since then. [...] It's expensive, although a little bit of it goes a long way. It's the half an ounce size, [...] so if you're on a budget, that's not going to be the most friendly one."
NIOD 2024 Sale Picks - I've Tried Everything at NIOD & Here's Their Best Products
"In here we've got 1% copper peptides, we've got squalene, we've got glycol, we've got Bible little for soothing and then we also have an ingredient called L blue which is an extract coming from a rare blue green algae that's to have retinoid effects, retinoid like effects but without the dryness and peeling and things that go along with retinoids and also has great skin smoothing benefits for your skin. This is probably my fourth tube of this. The first couple tubes I used I didn't love it. The second tube it took me like months to finish it and then they had it on sale last year so I picked up a couple more tubes and it really worked even better. I don't know why the first couple tubes of it I didn't love. I think it maybe my skin a little bit congested and things like that but the last couple tubes of it I love it, definitely repurchase it. It's 71 bucks, it's pricey but a little bit of it goes a long way. A tube like this lasts with nightly use I don't know three months or so. Very nice overall comes in the metal tube. Although once you open it you do have to start using it, you can't just let it sit around for a while because then it starts to separate but overall really nice copper peptide product."
What Are the Newest & Best Anti-Aging Ingredients for Mature & Aging Skin? My Youthful Skin Faves
"This also uses 1% copper peptides in a squalane base. It is in a very hydrating gel formula, and for very acne-prone skin I would not recommend this, but if you have dry skin or oily skin that's not acne-prone, give it a whirl. It is very hydrating, but for some people with acne-prone skin they don't have the best luck with this."

How to Layer Peptides with Active Ingredients & Get the Most Benefits Your Anti-Aging Products
"At first I hated this product. The first tube of this I hated and then it was on sale so I repurchased it and I found I actually liked it. The first time I used it just seemed to really suffocate and clog my pores and this time I didn't have that same experience. So I guess if you have oily or acne prone skin it might be a little touchy. I'd probably go with a serum texture. Although this does use an encapsulated copper peptide, copper is my favorite part here."

"I've got the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1%, which the first tube I used of it I really didn't like too much. I wasn't going to repurchase it. However, during a sale it was a really really good deal, I think it was half off, I think it was last Black Friday sale, so I picked it up and actually I ended up really enjoying it. So I've repurchased it now since then. It's 93 bucks, kind of expensive."
Top Luxury Skincare Favorites 🙌 The Only Splurge-Worthy Anti-Aging Products
"This stuff is pretty thick, it has a kind of an almost an ointment-like texture to it which I love for my dry skin, but it has broken me out a handful of times even when my skin isn't blemish prone, so keep that in mind. But copper peptides are wonderful for anti-aging. Just be cautious how you use them. You don't want to use them with a lot of actives, especially ones that have a low pH, because it can break up the peptide bond. So you don't want to use it with glycolic acid or certain exfoliants, lactic acid, things like that. Or if you do, be sure to use a neutralized product in between them so that the copper peptides can do their job without being disturbed by the low pH of actives. They're very strong antioxidants."
Niche Beauty Lab's Theramid 3% Copper Peptides Serum Review - NIOD CAIL Dupe?
"The formula is great, it just feels slimy and greasy and it feels like it sits on top of my face. I didn't finish it right away because it was greasy and I broke off from it, so I let it sit for a couple months and then I went to finish it. The product had disintegrated basically, so all this oil came out. It just didn't sit well and it disintegrated pretty fast."

"I received the NIOD copper amino isolate lipid one percent, a copper peptide product that's more of an oily moisturizer rather than a cream. It's great if you have dry skin, unlike their serum which is too watery and lightweight to really help with dryness. That said, I wouldn't buy this again, I didn't hate it or anything, I finished it, but I wouldn't buy this or their serum again. I still like Peach and Lily's copper peptide serum the most."

"The Copper Amino Isolate Lipid is very similar to the serum except for this one has that thick texture. Depending on what type of texture you are looking for, that will determine which one to go with. I always chose the serum because it's easier to use, it's thin, it's lightweight, it layers up nicely with skincare, and I've never had an issue with peeling. When you use something that is a little bit thicker, sometimes depending on the other products that you're using in your skincare routine like moisturizers, sunscreen, makeup, or even other serums, there's always that chance of pilling. [...] I do remember enjoying it, and I do remember it being moisturizing, but I just can't remember if I experienced a lot of peeling or not."

"I really like the serum option because I really like that lightweight feel that gives my skin that plumping effect. I do feel like this performs better than The Ordinary copper peptide because the ingredients are more advanced. I just feel like this one works a little quicker from the experience that I have had with the two. I really do like this option especially if I'm looking for something that is a little bit more moisturizing that has that plumpy effect and I really like the way that this applies to the skin."

"I picked up the Copper Amino Isolate Lipid, which is pretty much the exact same as this but in that bomb type of texture. [...] I'm really curious to see how this is going to work because it's been a while since I've used this and I can't remember how I liked it. I can't remember if it pilled, how it layered out with my skin care."

"CAIL is a bit more of an acquired taste in my opinion, I personally love it though. This formula is all about volume and keeping that youthful, plump volume. It's mainly the texture that I believe is not for everyone. It might put some people off, but I think you have to play around with this first when you first try it. It's gonna seem like it can't really spread, it's gonna seem too thick, almost Vaseline-like, but it goes through a texture change while you're applying. Suddenly something happens and it just becomes the most spreadable. So you don't actually need a lot in the beginning. When you're first applying, it's going to seem like you do, but you really don't. So I use a very, very little bit. In fact, I use a lot less of this than I do the CAIS, which is about as watery as it gets. This is absolutely what I switch to during the winter time because it has more of that lipid texture. I think if you're someone who has a lot of dehydration, this is really good at just kind of keeping that in. I use this formula exactly in the same way as CAIS, but particularly because of the texture of it, it's something that I will only use at nighttime."

"From an aesthetic perspective, my skin just looks glower, healthier, more radiant if I had put this on at night versus only using this. If I were going to purchase one of these again, [...] it would definitely be this Copper Amino Isolate. [...] This product is $93 for this little tube. I get it, ingredients can be expensive, [...] but you guys have got to give us better packaging. This is just unacceptable in my opinion for $93 to have the label hanging on for dear life. [...] The tube is honestly a good packaging system [...] because you can actually get every last drop out, [...] as opposed to an opaque pump packaging where you're just hoping they're not cheating you out of product. [...] It really does feel like you've got baby oil on your skin. [...] There's no fragrance in this. It has a bit of a vinegar scent to it, smells a little like apple cider vinegar when you're putting it on. It doesn't sting, burn, or anything."

I About Lost It Over This
"I've been testing out the NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1%. I've tried their copper peptides in the past but this I feel like I've tried it in the past too. I like it, it's oily, it's shiny. But this new packaging they need to rework this. I barely had it for a week now of use and the label is peeling right off. I understand why they do that but it's like come on guys, get it together with whatever adhesive you have on there. It needs to adhere, it's not adhering."

Summer Fridays Lip Balm & Girly Things I Am Loving
"This is around 90 bucks, which is a lot, but I will say I've really enjoyed using this. I've been using it now for two weeks just at night over my treatment, as like the last step. It's really oily when I wake up the next morning. I have not seen any dramatic change. My skin is moisturized, fine lines are smoothed down, but I'm not seeing like a major transformation. The overall texture, consistency, formulation, the delivery system, I'd like to see some more brands dipping into this shape because I really like it. It's almost like it wants to be an oil. It's like a gel oil."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Source: DermNet

Peptides

Peptides are short protein fragments meant to signal repair. The evidence for them is thinner than for retinoids or vitamin C, and it varies a lot by the specific peptide, so the category is more promising than proven.
