What the gurus are saying

Gurus view this as a solid, affordable workhorse that delivers on hydration and skin prep, with a simple formula that fits easily into any routine. The consensus split hinges on novelty: while it remains effective, the market has moved past it as a standout product. Fermented yeast extract, once a key differentiator, is now standard across essences and toners, and consumers increasingly seek more targeted actives like probiotics and peptides.

"This was one of the second product I ever got into when I got into K beauty. And that's the MISSHA Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. It's 23 bucks, so it's pretty affordable. The bottle is 150 milliliters. This one contains saccharomyces ferment, niacinamide, adenosine, and ceramide in there. You can pat it on, put it on with the toner, whatever you prefer. No scent, really affordable, lots of good ingredients in here and it really fits into any routine really easily."

"It had their version of that star ingredient, fermented yeast extract, specifically saccharomyces ferment filtrate, which is also rich in amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that help brighten, hydrate, and support skin turnover. It would just make your skin look so refreshed when you use this consistently, and today it still works. It's still a great product, helping with texture, hydration, prep. It feels like it preps your skin for other actives. But it's no longer the only option. Essences have kind of taken over, and that key ingredient is kind of just a given now. Saccharomyces ferment filtrate or alternatives and usually as effective options are just commonplace in our essences and even toners nowadays. Serums, people are looking for probiotics, peptides, barrier repair in a similar format. And I also feel like people just don't feel like it's an essential anymore."
