What the gurus are saying

One expert recommends the 0.6% concentration for those ready to move beyond lower retinol strengths, citing retinol's proven ability to speed up cell turnover and improve skin. However, another found it too strong even for their skin and felt a prescription retinoid like retin-A would be a better step up. Those with sensitive or darker skin tones may want to patch-test first, as mild peeling and potency were noted.

"Simple formula but rather than going up to 0.6% retinol I'd rather you jumped to retin-A. It even feels very similar, actually is peeling a little bit but that might happen. The smell's not too bad but for me this is too strong for my skin and color family."

"For higher concentrations, we recommend the 0.6, so you can use the Minimalist 0.6 Retinol. Retinol is one of the most important ingredients because retinol works by increasing your skin cell turnover, and the faster your skin cell turnover increases, the faster your skin improves."
