"Maelove Moonlight Super Serum is another retinaldehyde that I like, and that's probably the first retinaldehyde product I've been exposed to, and I love that one. It has a nice cool color, as well, and it's so gentle and hydrating. Maelove has done a great job with their products."

"If you've done retinol and you want to upgrade, go for retinaldehyde. Maelove Moonlight is a gentle retinaldehyde, and that's only one conversion step away from becoming active retinoic acid, versus retinol, which needs two conversion steps."

"The OG has always been the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Super Serum, which has been out for a long time, well before all of this big explosion of retinaldehyde. This came out I believe in 2020, 2021, and retinaldehyde is more potent than retinol. I love retinaldehyde because it's more potent theoretically than retinol and you don't have a lot of irritation like the prescription stuff I would prescribe, like tretinoin, tazarotene. Tazarotene is very notorious for causing irritation."

"The Moonlight Retinal Serum is a nice retinaldehyde product that's in a dropper bottle, fairly affordable. They've done a great job with this. Just a few drops to the face at bedtime and then apply your moisturizer over it. Great stuff. Studies have shown that it can help with fine lines and wrinkles even more so than retinol, but it could be a little bit more irritating because it's more potent. So there are trade-offs to it. Always start slow, maybe two to three times a week and then work your way up to every night slowly, and always moisturize after."

"This can be a little bit more irritating than retinol, so if you do have sensitive skin, just start with once a week or once or twice a week, leaving days in between, and then gradually increase from there to see how your skin does. I didn't experience any irritation, no tingling, no nothing. I did use this on my face, but I was also using this on my neck because I use tretinoin on my face but I can't bring it down my neck, so I usually use retinols or products like this that my neck can tolerate. This actually worked really nice on my neck. I didn't have any additional irritation, no retinol burn, no nothing, and I was shocked because I was just waiting for that irritation to happen and it didn't. This has some additional ingredients like niacinamide, ceramides to strengthen that skin barrier. I love when a retinol product has ceramides in it. This also has squalene, hyaluronic acid, and tea extract as well. When you put this on your skin, your skin does feel quite comfortable, and it does have that milky consistency and is yellow in color. If you're looking for something that is a little bit stronger than retinol but one step down from retinoic acid, then I would say give this a try. I really do think this is a great one."

"It's best to keep this as that main product just so that you don't develop more irritation and dryness, because that is possible when you're using a retinaldehyde or even a retinol for that matter. So maybe just pair up hydrating things with this, a really good moisturizer, maybe a hydrating serum, and if you're someone that uses essences and toners, use those before this. I love this a lot and I think it's a really nice one, especially if you want to enter the retinaldehyde world."

"This is a retinaldehyde at 0.11%. I really love this formulation because it is super brightening. There are other ingredients in here that benefit our skin even further. For example, there's niacinamide in here and this ingredient really helps to fade dark spots and post acne marks, but it can also brighten the skin at the same time. Retinaldehyde does that also. So I feel like this combination really gives that extra kick to your skin to brighten everything up. There's also hyaluronic acid, ceramides, squalane, aloe, there's green tea, there's a lot of great ingredients in here to keep the skin nice and hydrated and nourished. It's a wonderful formula. You're getting 30 mls of product and this is a true serum type of texture, and sometimes I like that, sometimes I want something that is a little bit more thin and lightweight on the skin. It has this nice milky texture, but again, super lightweight, very thin, very watery, and this one spreads really nice, and also this one dries down."

"Last but not least is the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Super Serum. I will say this does have fragrance in it. It contains bergamot oil, orange oil, and grapefruit oils. They're not strong, but there is a citrus scent to it, so if you're going to use this, be aware of it. Certainly don't use it during the daytime. This one contains 0.11% retinaldehyde. It also contains cloudberry seed oil and green tea."

"Last but not least is the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Super Serum. I will say this does have fragrance in it. It contains bergamot oil, orange oil, and grapefruit oils. "Move actually makes a retinol too, if you're really sensitive and you've never tried a retinoid product you could start with their retinol, I think it's called Stargaze. And then you can graduate up to Moonlight, which is the one I use. It has 0.11% retinaldehyde in it. A lot of people have concern about putting retinaldehyde on their skin, maybe you're sensitive, maybe you're worried about dryness or irritation, but this has other really great supporting ingredients in it. It has ceramides, it has hyaluronic acid, so it's really going to be gentle on your skin considering you're putting a retinoid on there. You can use this morning and night. At night you would actually put this one on first and then the Moonlight retinaldehyde, then you want to follow with a great moisturizer. Do I want you to use a retinaldehyde product every single night? No, I do not, because I think it's important to take a few nights off as rest nights to rest and reset your skin."

"If you want a nighttime product with retinaldehyde, which is the type of retinoid I recommend over the counter, the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Super Serum is your budget swap. It contains retinaldehyde as the hero ingredient, in a good concentration, and has a really good overall hydrating formula. It comes in a serum dropper bottle format, you just need a little bit and blend it into your skin. Smells nice and it feels really hydrating on the skin. The yellow color kind of absorbs into the skin and doesn't show up too crazy."

"A longtime favorite of mine, the Maelove Moonlight Retinal Super Serum. It has 0.1 percent retinaldehyde in it, I think, so it's a good dose, but it's a really hydrating formula. So I love this for mature or dry skin types, or if you just want extra hydration in your skin. This is such a nice feeling product on the skin."
