What the gurus are saying

This shampoo delivers visible fullness within days without the heaviness that typically weighs down fine or thinning hair, earning dermatologists' praise for its lightweight texture and cosmetic results. The formula packs a studied ingredient roster (caffeine, acetyl tetrapeptide-3, growth factor complex, and red clover extract) that support follicle metabolism and DHT management, making it a standout option for those managing androgenetic alopecia who want both efficacy and gentleness. Gurus note that results fade once you stop using it, and many reach for it as a second cleanse to maximize the growth-stimulating benefits on wash day.

"The other shampoo I have repurchased so many times is relatively new, and that is the Maelove full follicle shampoo. In terms of price, accessibility, and the very comprehensive ingredient list, I think this is one of the best hair loss shampoos you can get right now. It has caffeine, acetyl tetrapeptide-3, a growth factor complex, red clover extract, and a bunch of ingredients that have actually been fairly well studied when it comes to improving follicle metabolism, doing a little bit of DHT blocking, and also anchoring the hair in the follicle so that it doesn't want to shed as readily. I also find this to be a very gentle shampoo. I [...] do a double cleanse of my scalp, finishing with this one, and that not only makes my hair super clean and healthy but I get this double hit of hair growth stimulation on my wash day."

"Now that I'm also treating hair loss, because I have androgenetic or female pattern hair loss, I actually use a hair loss shampoo as my second shampooing step. I really like my Maelove full follicle shampoo and often go in with it as my second cleansing step."

"I was pretty impressed with how it basically transformed my hair. [...] I had been using a shampoo before that was not good, and within a matter of a couple of days of using their new line, I had a significant improvement in the overall cosmetic appearance of my hair. It looked fuller, and that fullness was maintained throughout the time I used the products. It seemed to give me a little more volume at the crown, just kind of lifting the hair up a bit. Although once I finished the line and stopped using the products, my hair went back to the way it was. My takeaway as a dermatologist is that these products help improve the appearance of the hair. Shampoos or scalp directed products with caffeine definitely show promise for androgenetic alopecia, so if that's something you're dealing with and you're interested in using caffeine in your hair care routine, I would definitely consider these products. They are very good."

"The shampoo has capixel, that's the peptide plus red clover, caffeine, biotin, rosemary leaf extract, five different growth factors, panthenol, eucalyptus, and resveratrol. The shampoo lathers nicely. It's not fragrance free, it has a citrus aroma. It's $34.95 for 8 ounces, not cheap. The shampoo and the conditioner have both just left my hair perfect, perfect how I like it, manageable, soft, smooth, all of those things. I think this is a good shampoo."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Peptides

Peptides are short protein fragments meant to signal repair. The evidence for them is thinner than for retinoids or vitamin C, and it varies a lot by the specific peptide, so the category is more promising than proven.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
