  • Airless pump reduces preservatives needed
  • Very low allergen potential

What they flagged

  • Pricey for the volume

What the gurus are saying

Neurosensine, an uncommon ingredient in this cream, stands out as a key feature the gurus praise for sensitive skin. Those with normal to oily skin find it lightweight enough for daily use, while dermatologists highlight its very low allergen potential and suitability for reactive complexions. The airless pump packaging means fewer preservatives are needed, though the price per volume leans high, so it's worth it mainly if you have sensitive skin that struggles with standard moisturizers.

"It's a little bit more on the expensive side for the volume you get, but if you have sensitive skin, this one really could be a savior. It has really, really low allergen potential and comes in a hermetically sealed airless pump to reduce the amount of preservatives and other ingredients needed. It's a lighter weight moisturizer, though there's a more intense version for super dry skin, so the classic one is best suited for people with normal to oily skin."

"This product was essentially formulated only for sensitive skin. It contains an ingredient called neurosensine, also known as acetal dipeptide 1, and this product has been shown to help with sensitive skin. What we love about this product and what some people hate about this product is that it's in a hermetically sealed packaging, so this is airless hermetically sealed and it doesn't have any preservatives either."

"This is the little facial moisturizer in the tiny tube, and it is 31 dollars, but it is incredibly good for sensitive, red, flared up skin."

"When your barrier is breached, it can be really helpful to focus on rebuilding the skin's microbiome. Two good options for that are La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Soothing Cream and also Flawless Moisturizer Intense. Both of these are super soothing for sensitive skin and will help get your barrier function back to baseline."

"I find that they both go on well. [...] This line is free of parabens, which may be suitable for people who have very sensitive skin. [...] Parabens are preservatives that [...] are pretty low risk of allergy, but some people are sensitive to them. [...] The products overall I don't have anything negative to say about them. I like them, they're great basic moisturizers. I think they are a good option if you have very sensitive skin. But the elephant in the room with these is the price point."

"This is for super sensitive skin. I don't really have super sensitive skin, but my skin likes using products like this. I think it's just no fuss. This cream is phenomenal. It's like an airtight component with a bag inside. So as you use it, it shrinks. If you've got sensitive skin or your skin's freaking out, I had perioral dermatitis for a minute, one and a half years ago. And I use nothing but this for a few weeks for it to go away and it's never come back. So it's so good for sensitive skin."

"The rock daily moisturizer is fantastic. We use it for touchups after lunch on movies and TV because you can just clean up and it's got a decent amount of shine but it's not overwhelming. You don't want glitter. I'm a woman of a certain age, I'm not going to Coachella, I'm at home with the grandkids. I just want glow, not glitter skin to have some reflection points."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
