"La Roche-Posay also makes an Effaclar 0.1% adapalene, and it's very similar, just formulated by the La Roche-Posay scientists. It includes their thermal spring water and other ingredients to help build your microbiome. These are two really great options and my favorites to recommend for my patients who want an over the counter option that helps control their acne and can also help with oil production."

"I love this so much, it is truly phenomenal to think that this adapalene ingredient at 0.1% has been the best thing I've ever done for my skin. It flies in the face of the mentality that more is more, it all comes down to every ingredient individually, and adapalene at 0.1% is a fantastic level. I still to this day only use it every other day, so it took me a long time to finish it, this lasts for so long and it is not expensive. I switched to the Walgreens store brand version and I'm saving even more money. Best thing I ever did for my skin, a strong retinoid."

Best AFFORDABLE Skincare Products: What WORKED for me!
"This is adapalene, a true active retinoid, no conversions required in your skin. It's a little different from retinoic acid, more apt for acne prone skin, and it used to be available only by prescription. When I first tried it I hated it, it's drying, very difficult to get going with, but once I did, wow, nothing has changed my skin as much as adapalene. I'd encourage trying it with the sandwich method: a lightweight moisturizer, wait ten minutes, a pea sized amount of the retinoid, wait ten minutes, then a heavy moisturizer. It's really an excellent over the counter retinoid."
