What they flagged

  • Cap and applicator wand prone to breaking
  • History of mold growth in some batches

What the gurus are saying

This lightweight, skin-care-infused concealer earns praise for buildable coverage and seamless blending, but quality-control problems with mold have affected some batches, so inspect your bottle carefully upon arrival. Reviewers consistently emphasize how naturally it wears and how it reads as skin rather than makeup, with particular appreciation for the shade range that works well for olive skin tones. The packaging is fragile and requires careful handling.

"I still prefer my holy grail Kosas concealer for under my eyes, though with that one I have to carefully apply and make sure I powder it."

"I really liked the Kosas concealer for reference, so I think if you like that concealer you'll probably like my holy grail concealer as well."

"I moved on to Kosas and this is the one. When I swatched it side by side with Tower 28 on the back of my hand and forgot about it for a few hours, the Kosas stayed smooth with a really pretty soft satin finish, while the Tower 28 actually looked more creased. I'm very confident at this point that for me, Kosas has been the better choice. I don't apply a lot of concealer, I think that's a big part of avoiding creasing, because even a product that doesn't crease with a thin layer can start creasing if you build it up too much."

"I really love the Kosas concealers. They really are one of my favorites and they have that nice full coverage and longevity and they don't make your under eyes look worse. You know how some concealers can make your under eyes look really creepy and dry looking? I don't get that with the Kosas brand. I'm just always so impressed with this concealer. This concealer is also very hydrating, and that is the one thing that I love with the Kosas brand. All of their products I find are so nice on the skin. They don't dry out the skin. I have combination skin and I'm also very acne prone, but I do get quite dry in the inner corner of my eyes, especially during the winter months, so I'm always looking for makeup products that are hydrating as well to keep the skin."

"Kosas best selling Revealer Concealer [...] came under fire for growing mold and smelling like crusty feet, according to some. In response to the allegations, the brand directed customers and members of the press to a product FAQ section of its website, saying on social media, 'We use safe effective preservatives and antimicrobial stabilizers which prevent against mold, yeast and percentage and pathogens.' This is a very good example of an expensive product that went moldy very quickly because of its chosen preservative system."

"I love Kosas concealer. I usually launch that so I have a soft spot in my heart for it."

"I love this concealer so much, I have three shades. It's literally skin care and concealer combined, it gives you really nice coverage but it's so lightweight, especially around the eye area. It has a slight glow to it but it's not sparkly, it just looks healthy. Even up close you can't really tell that you're wearing concealer, but it does enough and it gives good coverage to where it's worth using on a daily basis."

"I'm going in with my Kosas concealer [...] in 0.5 Neutral, which is a really nice match for my skin tone, it's very close and not ridiculously bright in any way. [...] This isn't an overly full coverage concealer, it has a nice coverage, [...] not ridiculously full, so it just adds a little bit more coverage and color correction where I need it."

My new GO TO everyday makeup for this HEAT girrrrl
"The concealer that I've been using for setting like concealing around my face is Kosas 0.5. I mix my custom color in the areas where I have a color already down so that it's blending into the skin, especially when I'm in a rush I just want to make sure that it's like melting into the skin."
This is my HOLY GRAIL Spot Concealing Trick
"I like to have those two as options. I have my Kosas concealer. [...] This one is for my face and then this one is for underneath my eyes to brighten."
How to choose the right concealer shade
"The Kosas 0.5N is like a really beautiful skin tone match for me. It matches my skin tone very, very well. It's probably the best concealer that I've had match my skin tone."

"I'm going to grab a Kosas. For spot concealing, I just prefer Kosas. This is 0.5 neutral with my referero3 brush. And I'm just going to place this in the areas where I have those annoying breakouts that need to be covered up."

"I'm going to mix a little bit of the Kosas Revealer Concealer because I'm just a little bit brightened, I usually use more of this but I'm going to mix them because her face is pretty brightened."

"I'm going to take a teeny little bit of my Kosas concealer in the shade .5 neutral. Teeniest little bit. I'm going to put that on the back of my hand. And then I'm going to just mix that with the"
I swatched OLIVE my Concealers lololol
"O2w so they they redid their Shades I think recently this is kosas o2w okay very orangey more of a yellow orange much less um not much less but less red then the hell was this Nars Nars nougat you can see lot more yellow just like much much deeper um too deep in yellow for my skin tone"
Trying a full face of KimChi Chic
"I might just go really old school and apply a little bit of concealer. I think I'm just going to use my Kosas concealer in .5, just put a little bit of that on my lids and then set with a powder."
My Go To Makeup when I want to look FLAWLESS
"I start off with my Kosas 0.5 neutral to brighten and conceal the center of my face. Certain areas that need a little bit more coverage need a little bit of brightening, okay? So like around the nose, on the chin, I like to brighten up like the outer corners of my mouth to kind of give it like a slight lift. Just any areas that I feel like need either a little bit more coverage or are slightly on the dark side."
Let’s see if these are REALLY Olive
"The Kosas Revealer Concealer in the shade [...] 0.5 N is very close to olive. It's quite nice, a little bit more on the neutral side, [...] so it has a little bit less of an off tone to it than the About Face concealer, but the formula I like a little bit better. It adds a little bit more coverage, and also has beautiful wear."
Makeup for acne prone skin
"My Kosas Revealer Concealer is the product that I use basically, it's basically like a match for my skin tone. I use this for spot concealing and just like little areas where I need a little bit more coverage, maybe like around the nostrils and around the mouth and such."
Jenna’s eye makeup is PERFECT
"I've been recently mixing just like kind of equal parts Kosas concealer in .5 neutral and my Nars eye shadow base because it's a little bit more like clear and I do have veins like visible veins that I kind of want to get rid of. However, for this kind of a look honestly you don't really need to do that. The concealer creates like kind of a sheer, a very very sheer coverage."
Jenna Ortega’s Bone Structure & Base Makeup, BROKEN DOWN
"My favorite concealer for my skin tone, Kosas Revealer Concealer in 0.5 neutral."
I'm SOOO sorry but this is the best makeup look ever
"I'm using my Kosas 0.5 neutral concealer to conceal and also sort of brighten around the center of my face. I'm going in doing a little bit around my nose, always the center of the face to just kind of build up a little bit of coverage. I am wearing a skin tint but I want the skin to look nice and natural so I'm not going in with too much. I'm taking my time slowly building it up, really focusing in those areas and making sure that things are blended."
I finished a bunch of stuff. Let's see if they were worth it 🥲
"The Kosas Revealer Concealer is my favorite for concealing around my face. It's very close to my skin tone, a really nice olive concealer. The shade I have is 0.5N, the lightest shade [...] they have. [...] It's a really good concealer that I use for my complexion for spot concealing or just a little extra coverage in certain areas. I really, really like it. The only thing I have to say is that the packaging needs an upgrade. The cap broke off at some point, and [...] the wand got damaged and was close to breaking, which made me terrified it would snap off when I tried to scoop concealer out."
Finally playing with the GREEN palette! 💚
"These are my three concealers. Nars for color correcting, Kosas for like regular whatever."
You NEED to try structured LIPS | Jenna Ortega
"And that concealer, like a slightly lighter concealer around that lip liner is really, really going to make it look crisp."
Emma Stone's makeup is PERFECT
"I'm going in and mixing a little bit. I like to just kind of go between all of these depending on the area of my face. So around my nose, I like a little extra coverage and some highlighting."
Does it look good on everyone?? Zendaya's Blush Makeup
Britney's makeup was ICONIC
"I'm going to use Kosas Reveal Concealer in 0.5N, which is just like a nice close match to my skin tone. It's not exact, but it's very, very close."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Peptides

Peptides are short protein fragments meant to signal repair. The evidence for them is thinner than for retinoids or vitamin C, and it varies a lot by the specific peptide, so the category is more promising than proven.
