What the gurus are saying

Experts praise it as a solid moisturizer, especially for nighttime use alongside retinol since peptides may help support collagen and address fine lines and sagging. However, the one thing to keep in mind: collagen in a cream works as a humectant that temporarily plumps and softens the skin surface, not as an ingredient that builds new collagen in the skin itself. Those expecting true firming from the collagen ingredient alone may find the results more hydrating than transformative.

"There's First Aid Beauty, they make a nice firming cream with niacinamide and peptides. I like that peptides are a really nice addition to your nighttime skincare routine after your retinol because you're just going to both work on increasing collagen and helping with those fine lines and wrinkles, improve elasticity in your face, especially if you're noticing sagging or creppiness."

"First Aid Beauty, which is a brand I really love, has something called a firming cream and it has collagen in it and I actually love that cream. It's a wonderful moisturizer, but it's not going to firm up your skin because it has collagen in it. Collagen as a skincare ingredient acts as a humectant, something that binds and holds water in the skin surface, so you can get some temporary plumping and it can help soften the skin, but it's not going to help you form new collagen."
