What the gurus are saying

The collagen in this cream works as a humectant to plump and soften skin temporarily, but won't actually trigger new collagen formation, so don't expect lasting firmness from that ingredient alone. That said, the peptides are genuinely useful in a nighttime routine alongside retinol, since both work together to support collagen and help with fine lines and elasticity, particularly if you're noticing sagging or crepey texture. It's a solid moisturizer, just set realistic expectations about what each ingredient can deliver.

"There's First Aid Beauty, they make a nice Firming Cream with niacinamide and peptides. I like that peptides are a really nice addition to your nighttime skincare routine after your retinol because you're just going to both work on increasing collagen and helping with those fine lines and wrinkles, improve elasticity in your face, especially if you're noticing sagging or creppiness."

"First Aid Beauty, which is a brand I really love, has something called a Firming Cream and it has collagen in it and I actually love that cream. It's a wonderful moisturizer, but it's not going to firm up your skin because it has collagen in it. Collagen as a skincare ingredient acts as a humectant, something that binds and holds water in the skin surface, so you can get some temporary plumping and it can help soften the skin, but it's not going to help you form new collagen."
