What the gurus are saying

This vitamin C eye cream earns praise for tackling under-eye dark circles, with gurus noting it delivers solid results for that specific concern. However, the product's value proposition takes a hit when it regularly appears at steep discounts at off-price retailers, which can make the full retail price feel less justified. Best approached as a targeted dark-circle treatment rather than a premium investment.

"I found the Sea Tango multivitamin eye cream at TJ Maxx for $39.99. What's going on with Drunk Elephant? Is Chaseo. Did they recoup their billion dollars that they spent on this? So they build up this brand to be this high esteem brand and then they kind of devalue it by, you know, shilling it at TJ Maxx for way less the price and then people still think they're getting a deal. I guess it's at least it's cheaper than the normal price."

"The other one which is the Tango C is also a vitamin based eye cream and it is really really good. The second one which is the Tango C it is better suited if you have under eye dark circles."

"With my eye cream, I'm going to use the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin. I love this. Since having know me, I just feel like I need eye cream more than ever. My eyes feel dry and not good."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
