  • Cream formula may feel heavy if over-applied

What the gurus are saying

This cream hydrates beautifully but demands a light hand and warming between the fingers to work best, transforming from a rich texture into a gel-like formula that won't feel heavy. Gurus praise the peptide blend and vitamin K for calming redness and reducing puffiness, and note it plays especially well with sensitive skin on the neck and décolletage where stronger actives may not be tolerated. One note: it's not a standout favourite for everyone, and a few have switched to other eye creams in the brand's range, so it's a solid hydrator rather than a must-have.

"This is their DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream. Love this. Some of you find this a little bit irritating because it does have hydropenic cologne retinoate, which is a vitamin A derivative. Go slow. Just put a little bit on once a week, and then if your skin can tolerate it, especially in that thin under eye area, increase to twice a week and so on. A little hack you could do is put a little bit of the barrier night mask on in your under eye area and then pop on the DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream. That might be a great way to build up your tolerance more slowly."

"Their Advanced Eye Cream, is it the best eye cream I've ever tried? No. But it's nice, it hydrates and it does the trick. Do you need an eye cream? Probably not. Do I like an eye cream? I definitely do. So I do recommend this product. I do have other eye creams that I probably reach for more often than this, but if you're looking for a decent eye cream that does the job, check this out."

"I much prefer the DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream. It has a little bit of vitamin A, hydropenic colone, retino. It actually makes my under eyes look a lot better because it's non-irritating. You got to find a formula that works for you and works for your skin, everyone is just a little bit different."

"Next up I'm going to do my eye care and use the Advanced Eye Cream. Usually I combine the Advanced Eye Cream with the eye masks, that combination gives you so many actives for the under eye area, de-puffing, hydration. I'm going to put about a third of a pump, that's exactly the amount that you need, don't over-apply under eye treatments because you really need so little. Some people can't tolerate a cream in the under eye, they prefer a gel, this is a cream formula, and I like to spread it up to my crow's feet."

"This is their Advanced Eye Cream. It has vitamin K which is known to kind of reduce the look of capillaries in the under eye area. [...] This is great and you can include it either under the dermology eye patches or under the doe skincare patches just to give a little boost to your under eye cream."

"The Advanced Eye Cream I haven't been reaching for this. I used to use it under their eye brightening mask which I haven't purchased. I've been using my forever reusable eye mask so this isn't necessarily a fail but it's just not something I'm going to repurchase and I'm much preferring their HPR eye cream. I ran out of this and switched over to another eye cream that I've been testing for you guys."
Best Anti-Aging Skincare for Over 50 | Ranking DRMTLGY's Top 10 Best Sellers
"I have not always been a fan of the DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream and I'm going to tell you why - it is a cream formulation, but I was using it too heavily. You have to use the smallest amount of this and you have to warm it between your fingers. It works best that way and it transitions into a very lightweight gel-like formula, so be very sparing with this. It has vitamin K which helps combat redness. In combination with the brightening eye masks, you get the perfect under eye treatment for depuffing, for decreasing redness, and for hydration, so you'll have less puffy under eyes, less redness, and your concealer will look beautiful."

"I absolutely love using an eye cream. Is it necessary in your skincare routine? No, but I really feel like it works nicely to hydrate the under eye before I put my concealer on. At nighttime I'm using the HPR, this is hydroxypinacolone retinoate by Dermatology."

"DRMTLGY has two eye creams, but I like this one the best because I feel like it's more advanced and it works better. This formulation has an ingredient called hydroxypolene retinoid, which is a newer retinoid that is more gentle but yet powerful and it really does work. Retinoids are great for targeting a lot of skin issues like texture, crepiness, fine lines and wrinkles and it just really helps to rejuvenate the skin. I love eye creams that contain retinoids because the skin is so thin and delicate and it's one of the areas where we do start to see premature aging, crow's feet, crepiness, loss of firmness. So this would be a great product to use every night around the eyes. If you're unsure how your skin is going to adjust with this, then I would say start with one or two nights per week and then gradually increase your usage from there. But I only use this once a day and I only use this at night time because of that retinoid. There's other ingredients in here like pumpkin seed oil, peptides, and glycerin. It is very moisturizing and quite repairing around the eyes."

"It's nice and comfortable, really moisturizing, lightweight, non-greasy, and I really do feel like this is a great option, especially if you have crows feet, fine lines, some texture underneath the eyes. You're looking to brighten up that skin underneath the eyes, and if you do have dark circles or discoloration, then this eye cream can help with that as well with consistent use. I'm going to give this a 9 out of 10."
6 BEST ANTI-AGING EYE CREAMS 2023 | SKINCARE OVER 30
"It contains peptides, so when I use this I use it at night time and I don't pair anything else with it. I just use this because it really is sufficient on its own, and I love the results I've seen so far with it. It really helps with texture crepiness to soften crow's feet. It really keeps everything nice and smooth, and my under eyes have never been smoother since using this. The cream is very rich and it really keeps that skin nice and comfortable. It can be used twice a day but I would start with once a day and gradually increase if that is your goal because we're all different. Even though they say this is gentle, I've never experienced dryness or irritation with it. I did use it once in my morning skincare routine but didn't pair it with makeup, so I just used it with sunscreen and it worked fine. There was no peeling whatsoever. But when there's retinols and retinoids and active ingredients in my skincare products, I generally like to keep these for nighttime, so I use this at night time. It comes with nice pump-style packaging. All you need is one little pump for both of your eyes and that's sufficient. I put this underneath my brow bone. I don't go too much on my eyelids just because I don't want there to be dryness in case that ever did happen."
BEST ANTI-AGING EYE PRODUCTS THAT TIGHTEN, LIFT, REDUCE PUFFINESS, DARK CIRCLES AND MORE!
"You will see how nicely this spreads. There is a little bit of a yellow tone to this, which is quite common when you're using something with a retinoid. That is half a pump. This is not greasy or sticky on the skin. It will dry down skin-like and it leaves your skin feeling really moisturized. So if you have really dry under eyes, I think you're going to really enjoy this one. And I also have a discount code with DRMTLGY, 20% off."
MY NIGHTTIME ANTI-AGING SKINCARE ROUTINE | P.M. WINTER SKINCARE ROUTINE | OVER 30 SINCERELY MISS ASH
"I'm going in with an eye cream, the DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream, one of their newest products from late 2023. HPR is actually one of the newest retinoids, and they say it's more effective than traditional retinol but it's less irritating and more gentle. From my experience with this, it's really gentle. I've never had any irritation or dryness, but I've been using a lot of actives around my eyes for a very long time so maybe my eye area is just accustomed to actives that I don't experience irritation, but we're all different so please be cautious. Maybe start with one or two days a week and then gradually increase from there. This formulation also has peptides in it and it's very moisturizing, especially for the winter months. I'm going to put just one little pump on my ring finger and that amount will do both of my eyes, so less is more, and I just gently spread that around the eye area going underneath the brow bone, a little bit on the lid not too much, and then tap everything in until it's absorbed. Now I don't generally use this eye cream in the morning because it does contain that retinoid, so I strictly keep this for nighttime."

"This eye cream has an ingredient called hydroxy pinacolone retinoid, one of the newest retinols in the skincare world. It's powerful but yet very gentle. From my experience with this eye cream, I have not experienced any dryness or irritation with that delicate skin. It also contains peptides, which is great, and vitamin E and the list goes on, so it's designed to soften. I've been using a lot of actives around the eyes for several years, so that's likely why I'm not experiencing irritation, but everyone is different, so it's possible that you might see some dryness with this or you may not. Just start slow and gradually increase your usage if you decide to use it."

BEST EYE CREAMS FOR ANTI-AGING | 2024 | DARK CIRCLES, PUFFINESS, FINE LINES/WRINKLES | OVER 30
"I've been really enjoying this. I was enjoying this last year, and I do believe I featured this in the best eye creams for 2023. It's the DRMTLGY Advanced Eye Cream. I still really enjoy this and I still use this quite a bit, especially in my nighttime routine. The reason why I like this a lot is because this contains an ingredient called hydroxy pinacolone retinoid, which is actually one of the newest retinoids in the retinoid world, and it's effective but yet gentle, gentle enough for those that have sensitive skin around the eyes. This also has two peptides, which are also great to firm the skin and to address fine lines and wrinkles."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Sunscreen filters

Sun protection is the best evidenced way to slow visible ageing, and the filters are what does the work. Mineral and chemical filters both protect when a product is applied thickly enough and often enough, which is where most people fall short rather than on the choice of filter.

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Source: DermNet

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
