What the gurus are saying

Experts found this delivers a very natural, skin-like finish with light coverage that holds up beautifully in the first half of the day, making it a solid budget pick for anyone after a barely-there, glowy look. The catch: it tends to shift toward shine and oiliness as the day goes on, so those with oily or combination skin may want to pair it with a matte setting powder to keep it in place. One expert noted that blending with a dense brush works better than fingertips, and while the formula contains more skincare ingredients than typical drugstore products, it's positioned as a good entry point rather than a standout.

"It looks very natural, very skin-like. It looks like nothing on your skin but it does give you some coverage and it stays in place really well. It's a really great one for like the natural look girlies out there who really just don't want to look like they're wearing any makeup but you have some things on your skin that you want to improve the look of or you just want a dewier, more glowy look to your skin. This will deliver that with a very sheer wash of pigmentation. It gets kind of shiny and a little bit oily looking in the afternoon on me, so I would definitely wear a little bit of a more matte setting powder with it, but if you have super dry skin you may just love this as it is."

"I actually do like this Foundation a lot. I think for something that gives such light coverage, it's really beautiful for the first half the day. It looks very natural, very skin-like, it looks like nothing on your skin but it does give you some coverage and it stays in place really well. But on me it definitely gets kind of shiny and a little bit oily looking in the afternoon. If you have super dry skin you may just love this as it is, but if you do have a little bit of an oily T-Zone like I do, you're definitely going to get some shine later in the day."

"You could really get away with just blending it into the skin directly with your fingertips, but I feel like this would really help if you have a dense flat top brush to kind of break up those beads a little bit more. It just didn't melt into each other the way that the Chanel one did, but the brush helped that blend together really well and the end result was beautiful. For me, the Covergirl one honestly gets a green. I feel like it wouldn't look as good using your fingers, so keep that in mind. I know it's $21, but also the Chanel is $70, so for me it's like a no-brainer if you want to try a formula like this and you've never experienced it before or maybe you want to see what the vibe is. I do think they have a little bit more skincare ingredients in here, which is not always common for drugstore products to have a higher percentage of active ingredient. This for me is a green. It's a beautiful type of formula, but I do feel like it's a little bit overhyped. You can get a very similar effect for a lot less than even this one with a lot of the different skin tints that have launched at the drugstore."
