What the gurus are saying

This water-light essence-serum hydrates and plumps the skin with six peptides that target fine lines, elasticity, and radiance, and it layers beautifully under other actives including retinoids. Most gurus praise its texture, affordability, and multitasking benefits, though one expert notes it works best as a booster within a full routine rather than as a standalone active. If you have sensitive skin or struggle with irritation, the niacinamide and calming peptides may help, but patch-test first since sensitivities to niacinamide do occur.

"I love this peptide. This is by COSRX, a six peptide skin booster. It evens skin tone, hydrates, helps with firmness and smoothness, pore and sebum care, and improves skin texture. It has [...] a copper peptide in it, [...] signaling peptides, and acetyl hexapeptide-8, so it smooths fine lines, and it's so cheap [...] I've got like six of them in the refrigerator because I use them over everything. [...] I am literally seeing a huge difference just from using this on my body every night."

"I am loving this, you guys. [...] This is the COSRX 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum. It literally is like water. So when you put this on, you can spread this on your entire body for a fraction of what you would pay for like some of the other types of creams. This is not expensive. I believe this is under $20. It has six different peptides in it, hyaluronic acid, amino acids. Even skin tones, hydrating, firmness, and smooth pore and sebum care, improve skin texture. I've noticed all of that. [...] A peptide pairs very well with a retinoid, so [...] this is great to put on first and then add a retinoid."

"So unless you're using like a multi-peptide like the COSRX or a multi-peptide like the Allies of Skin or even the Ordinary multi-peptide with hyaluronic acid. Those are the ones that I kind of showed you. Those are great peptides, all around good peptides. This one is super pricey, but man, I am telling you I'm noticing difference. And that is hard for me to do because it's hard for me to notice a big difference in stuff because I'm so consistent with my skin care routine, but when I started using this, it's like woah, okay, things are a little bit feel a little tighter. I don't know, but I love it."

"I am obsessed with this product. I gave it an eight out of 10 earlier. Um, I think I'm going to go up in that. I love this because it comes in a pump. This is a six peptide skin booster. It's by COSRX. You can get it at Costco. It's from South Korea. It's great. Use it on your whole body. [...] Can you put this on your face? Absolutely. That's what it's designed for. But why are we not putting it on our bodies? It's basic. I don't want to say it's free, but it's really cheap, you guys. It's not expensive. [...] This is a great product to put everywhere."

"This is the CosRX six peptide skin booster. Absolutely love this, I put it on my whole body. It's lightweight, like a toner, and blends six peptides to address fine lines, uneven texture, and loss of firmness. It's suitable for all skin types, and it's very cost effective, I don't think it's over $20."

"They named it a serum but I use it like a toner, it's more watery. I was so surprised, this one is so moisturizing. Oily combo skin can try it out too, it's pretty okay for all skin types. It appeals to more people and you can use it all year round, so I'd give COSRX more points, a winner here. I put this in my 2024 Korean best skincare routine because I loved it, and trying it again I still do. It also has six different peptides, which work like a helper, so whenever you use retinol or vitamin C it gives you a boosting effect."

"This contains six different peptides. Peptides work as anti-aging, they help other ingredients work better, it's a great assistant. It works for all different skin types. It's a bit tacky, but not too much, so you have to pat it in well. One good thing is I reach for this more often because of the pump, it's easy, not fussy. If you're using vitamin C or retinol, which can make your skin sting a little, you can put this on first and it works a lot better. It's an amazing booster."

"This is named a serum but it's a bit of a thick water type, so I use it as a toner. It contains six peptides, the basic building blocks that make up proteins, and it's famous for ingredients that help collagen formation, the kind you usually see in luxury anti-aging products. This one did an amazing job because it's really lightweight, and it's an amazing pair when you use it with vitamin C and retinol, it gives you a booster effect, as soon as you apply it you can feel your skin is moisturizing."

"One of the most under-sung peptide products of all time is actually the peptide toner serum from Cosrx. They have two neuropeptides in here, the one everybody knows, argireline or acetyl hexapeptide-8, but they also have syn-ake, another neuropeptide to inhibit the nerve stimulus for muscle movement. If you're looking for a peptide serum and you have wrinkles and you're trying to treat wrinkles, this is top-tier for the price point."

"The six peptide skin booster from COSRX has tons of complimentary benefits: boosting, plumping, fine line, firmness, oil control, pores, reduce skin sensitivity, retexturize blemishes and brightening, and all of that is true. [...] I think this is the best multi-purpose product because COSRX is very cost-effective. The aesthetics of this product feel so good. [...] Peptides as a group are easily the number one supporting ingredient, [...] providing the best broad benefits. [...] When it comes to Korean skincare brands and COSRX in general, you really just cannot beat the texture, the way that it will layer under any other product or layer under your makeup or layer underneath your sunscreen. They always bring hydration, they always bring calming and soothing, and peptides truly play well with pretty much any other ingredient. This does really so much, especially with the copper peptides and especially with the organ that's in this formula."

"This stuff is very watery. I don't really like the fact that they use the term serum there because it's not really a serum, it's not really an essence, it's not really a toner, but it is very liquidy. If your essence is thick, I would apply it beforehand. If your essence is watery and runny, I would probably apply it afterwards. I think of it more as like an in-between toner essence type product. I wish they would relabel this or kind of better qualify it for what it is because it's not really a serum, but it's not a toner. It's more of a watery based essence to me."
COSRX Skincare 🆕 The 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum First Impressions Review & Demo
"It's got some vitamin E in there and soybean oil, so if you have acne prone skin, the main ingredients to be aware of is the vitamin E and the soybean oil. [...] Most people tolerate vitamin E very well even though it's kind of comedogenic, it just sometimes depends on the formula too. Overall it stuff feels nice. I'm really impressed. I'm going to continue to use this because I really like it. The copper peptide in there is very sensitive to other ingredients. [...] I have found copper peptides are very fussy. You're not supposed to use them with almost anything else basically. I mean not supposed to use their retinol, acids, vitamin C, or strong antioxidants. So basically almost anything you use. But I found if I use a copper peptide and then layer a neutral product in between that's not a pH dependent product, that's not an active in between the copper peptide, it seems to work for me and other brands have recommended it, because otherwise you have to choose one or the other. Copper peptides can be very [...] fragile. [...] It's still kind of a relatively newer ingredient in skin care, but I found that works for me and I'd rather do both as long as your skin isn't irritated than have to pick one or the other and only get the benefits from one or the other."

"I think of this more as an essence than a serum, but it's technically called a serum, the Cosrx 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum. It's got six peptides as well as several amino acids, it's fragrance free, and a little bit of it goes a long way. The bottle's gigantic and about two pumps is enough for my face and neck. NEW Skincare Try On: Cosrx Peptides, Topicals Primer & More! (9/23)
"I did buy the new Cosrx 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum. I'm a big fan of peptides and I've been wanting to try more from the Cosrx line. This reads a lot like the multi peptide serum from The Ordinary, but it's really a different concept, more of a toner serum, almost a first serum, and because it's so watery it may help increase the absorption of anything you apply afterward. Peptides are humectant ingredients and we know they're wonderful for hydrating your skin, and the brand claims some other benefits too, though that data is manufacturer supplied. I do believe, by the nature of humectants and the fact that it's just nice to apply, that using this before other serums and ampoules helps. I love my peptides, I love my peptides."
COSRX: Ranking 18 Products Best to Worst! (2023 Version)
"This is the six peptide skin booster from the COSRX the ordinary line, and it's the first product from that line that's really captured my interest. It's a serum with six forms of peptides plus some hyaluronic acid, natural moisturizing factors and amino acids, and it's really more of a giant hydrating toner at 5.07 fluid ounces. We don't yet have peer reviewed published literature on these peptides, only promising manufacturer's data, so I think it's safer to say the peptides act as humectants rather than overstate the benefits. When you look at the Korean label the actual use levels are pretty low, so I wouldn't rely on this as your main peptide product, but as a booster it gives additional hydration and helps other peptides absorb better. It's so well made that I can use multiple layers of it and my skin doesn't get sticky or tacky. It's really a hit for me."

"COSRX is calling this a serum booster, and the key word there is booster. It helps lift up the rest of your routine, but on its own, if it was your only active product, meaning the peptides in it, I think you might be disappointed with it. I personally was when I tested this out. I didn't feel that I got a ton of benefits from it on its own. I think it works well as a booster, but it's important to know this isn't a highly concentrated serum, this is an essence. COSRX is using some more interesting peptides, and I think the mix delivers a more unique set of benefits. [...] There are some collagen stimulating peptides in here, though it's not a heavy focus of the six peptide mix they're using. They're also looking to address signs of sensitivity and irritation on the skin, redness and inflammation, which can be particularly helpful if you have a sensitive skin type, if you're struggling with your moisture barrier, but it can also be helpful if you struggle with inflammatory acne as well. There's also a brightening peptide in here that can help with the overall complexion and clarity of the skin, the evenness of it."

Cosrx The 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum, Reviewed!
"If you're just starting your skincare routine, you know your skin's not optimized, you haven't quite figured it all out yet, you're still working on evening out your skin tone, getting that healthy lit-from-within glow, this would be a great way to get to that first level. So my final word and rating on this product is, is it the best overall superstar anti-aging product that you can add into your routine? Absolutely not. Is this a great co-star, an additional product, a booster that you can add alongside a nice fully developed skincare routine to boost your results? Maybe, especially if you haven't quite hit all of your skincare goals just yet. And so for that reason alone I'm going to be rating this a seven out of ten. Once you understand how to use this in your routine, it could actually be very helpful as a co-star to the rest of your skincare products."

"The six peptide skin booster serum is my favorite in this category. I think the concept is derived from the popular injectable skin boosters that are super popular in Korea but in a topical form, and I think [...] that means making the skin more hydrated and more radiant at the end of the day, and I think the formula really does that. It's a wonderful formula [...] because it has peptides and I love peptides. It's a multitasking serum that has six different peptides as the name implies that really helps to promote and improve skin elasticity, texture, radiance, and tone and overall skin vitality. Really designed for those who are seeking a lightweight, almost like an essence, a non-sticky essence or serum that really helps to address all of those concerns in one. The six peptide complex targets fine lines, improves radiance, improves tone, helps to improve skin hydration along with niacinamide, which is a jack of all trades that does a little bit of everything for better skin, and then glycerin that helps to hydrate. All of these ingredients really help target fine lines, skin hydration, support skin barrier, brighten the skin and [...] make your skin look so much better."

"I actually recommend their peptide booster Essence that contains six different types of peptide complexes including copper as well as other types of signaling peptides that help to plump the skin support collagen synthesis improve the appearance of fine lines wrinkles and skin radiance much more watery nonsticky. This Essence currently is retailing for around $17. The only thing to keep in mind is that because it does contain copper if you do choose to use it in the morning you want to be mindful of not pairing this with a pure L-ascorbic acid-based vitamin C serums, potentially there could be some interaction. Copper may oxidize pure vitamin C but it's totally okay to use with other forms like THD ascorbate."

"The COSRX 6 Peptide Skin Booster Serum is such a great value at baseline. It's a fragrance-free toner serum, lightweight fluid that you would apply as a first step in your skincare routine after cleansing. It has a variety of different peptides in it which are great for hydrating the skin, improving skin smoothness. Some peptides may potentially help ward off hyperpigmentation, may have anti-inflammatory effect. Now more research is needed to rigorously substantiate those claims, but as cosmetic ingredients they certainly can benefit the appearance of the skin and they can be expensive. Peptide products can be pricey, but this one is a great value at baseline. I also like that it has a variety of amino acids which are part of skin's natural moisturizing factors, so it's really helpful for the skin barrier and it is affordable at baseline but discounted for Black Friday. If you've been curious about it, try it out when it's on sale."

"What you have here with these six peptides are peptides that are going to improve moisture content in your skin, help with elasticity, firmness, overall more even skin tone, radiant luminous glow, and have a smoothing effect to the skin surface. Having used this myself I can attest that that in fact does occur. This also has some other ingredients that are not peptides that also have benefit for the skin. Niacinamide, one of my favorites, a B vitamin that is good for dark spots, redness, the moisture barrier, it's anti-inflammatory, it's soothing. I'm not told what the percentage strength of niacinamide in this is and I'm calling your attention to that because effective strengths range anywhere from 2 to 5%, higher percentages can sometimes be more irritating so I'm not sure what the percentage is in this. I did not experience any irritation with it. It also has allantoin which is very soothing, it has glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, so those ingredients along with the peptides also aid in improving the moisture content of skin's outermost layer. The consistency is a waterlike consistency, there's no real viscosity to it, it's not thick, it's not sticky, it's not tacky. It does not contain fragrance."

"It has argireline that's a peptide that allegedly acts like botox. I don't know about all that but it may have a skin smoothing effect and improve little fine lines. Now this also has niacinamide which is good for redness, moisture retention, hyperpigmentation. Anyone seeking to just even out complexion but also smooth the skin surface, improve little fine lines, I highly suggest this product. Use it as a first step in either your morning or evening skincare routine or you could use it twice a day if you're so motivated. Just apply it a little bit to damp skin, you can pat it in or rub it in, and then you are free to apply moisturizer on over if you so choose or other hydrating serums or toners. It is a very lightweight consistency."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.
