What the gurus are saying

This gel contains three retinoids (retinol, retinaldehyde, and granactive retinoid) alongside Centella asiatica, aloe, and squalene for hydration. The formula earns praise for texture refinement and staying gentle, even for beginners; however, stacking three retinoid types raises questions about whether it outperforms simpler products, since retinol and retinaldehyde are both beginner-friendly. Begin with a few nights weekly if new to retinoids.

"This one also has Centella asiatica, squalane, and aloe. So hydrating, repairing, calming ingredients to keep the skin nice and comfortable when you're using those three types of retinoids. And this one really does wipe out texture. It gives this nice softness to your skin and then over time with consistency it can improve everything else. You want to use it at night time because this one is a little bit stronger. You might want to start with a few nights per week for a couple of weeks and then gradually increase your usage from there just to see how your skin does. Or you can just go right in and use this every night if you really wanted to. This one does have a little bit of a thicker texture than the [CeraVe] one. Even though it's considered a gel, it's not as runny and as thin as the [CeraVe]. It spreads really nicely. And this one is a little bit more moisturizing on the skin in my opinion. So this one will have more of a moisturizer feel to the skin. So you may not need to put a moisturizer on top of this if you don't want to."

DRUGSTORE OBSESSIONS: NEW FINDS & OLD FAVORITES - SKINCARE PRODUCTS FOR FALL | SINCERELY MISS ASH
"This is their new Advanced Retinol Gel, and I think this is a great formulation for those that are more experienced with using a retinol, but even if you're a beginner I still feel like this is going to be a great option because it does have that nice formulation where it's moisturizing and it's not drying in the least, especially from my experience with this. If you are a beginner, just start with one or two days a week, nighttime preferably, and do that for a while and then gradually increase your usage from there once you see how your skin is adjusting to the product. This formulation is quite nice because it contains a tri retinoid complex, which means that this contains three types of retinoids: there is 0.25% retinol, a 0.125% encapsulated retinal which is retinaldehyde, and a 0.125% granactive retinoid. These three ingredients will target signs of aging, prevent fine lines, help with texture and tone, a brighter complexion, and also if you're someone that is acne prone, retinol can be a great ingredient to incorporate in your nighttime routine to treat acne and to help prevent acne breakouts. Besides the three retinoids, there's also Centella asiatica in here."

"This contains aloe, Centella asiatica and squalene so these are great ingredients to prevent transepidermal water loss, to reduce redness, keeping the skin barrier nice and comfortable. You could definitely experience dryness and irritation with this formulation, especially if you're new and you're not really accustomed to vitamin A. For me personally, I feel like this formula is quite gentle. I do use this a lot on my neck and my chest, the backs of my hands, but sometimes I will use this on my face also. All you need is a pea-sized amount. With this one you are getting 30ml of product, it is fragrance-free, and it's a great drugstore option."

"This has retinol but it's 0.05% interesting so this has retinol and retinaldehyde and that HPR granactive retinoid thing which like I said doesn't have any real evidence behind it but the retinol and retinaldehyde do. This is kind of an interesting formula I've not seen a product that combines both retinol and retinaldehyde. Looks like they're all encapsulated together. No fragrance. $26.99. The question is is it effective because honestly all retinol and all retinaldehyde are beginner friendly but there is a huge difference between the dryness irritation and peeling that you get with tretinoin compared to retinol. I mean retinol in general is super mild even retinaldehyde is something that a beginner would have a decent chance being able to tolerate."
