What the gurus are saying

This reverse emulsion cream delivers a silky, luxurious texture that many find deeply hydrating and especially effective for mature, dry skin; it contains peptides and proprietary complexes intended to support skin renewal and barrier function. However, the price point divides experts sharply: some swear by long-term results and the texture alone, while others find comparable moisturizers work just as well at a fraction of the cost, and a few question whether the patented ingredients justify the expense. Most agree the formula itself is solid but suggest patch-testing first if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin, and using sparingly since a little goes a long way.

"The Augustinus Bader Rich Cream is excellent. It is incredibly nourishing and contains a patented peptide olopeptide 177 which is designed to promote skin cell renewal. Drier and more mature skin types tend to find it particularly luxurious and effective. It has a very similar texture to Augustinus Bader's butter because both are reverse emulsions, meaning that there are water droplets suspended in oil, which gives that rich but not greasy feel."

Why Are These the Most Popular Anti-Aging Creams? | Dr. Sam Ellis
"It has a bit of a unique texture. This particular cream is what we call a reverse emulsion, where you have drops of water suspended in oil, and when you do that it gives a very luxurious texture that a lot of brands don't offer. Particularly for mature skin that tends to be a bit more dry, these oil-dominant formulations can just feel extra moisturizing for them. It is a really beautiful, effective moisturizer, but for me personally, having that extra TFC8 complex in there really isn't enough for me to want to spend $300 on it. If you're trying to stretch your budget or have to be financially conscious for certain reasons, this might not be the place I'd choose to spend the most in my anti-aging skin journey. I will say I have received this product as a gift from the brand a couple of times, and do I use it up every single time? I sure do."

Things YouTubers Don’t Usually Say…
"I try a lot of products, and to this day, no moisturizer beats it. Believe me, I wish something would. What I can say is nothing is more perfect on my skin. I would bathe in Bader if I could afford it. But it's insanely expensive. I have been buying this for 5 years. I buy it once a year at full price, and then I look for sales."
⭐️ How to Repair Damaged Skin | Skin Obsessed Mary
"I've been using the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream forever. I really like this moisturizer. It's quite heavy and I feel that it's quite reparative. For me I want something a lot thicker at night and this is the one I go for."
⭐️ Products I Can’t Stop Rebuying
"We couldn't have a favorites video without my beloved Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. This is proper splurge stuff, but it's one that I've repurchased many times. It's rich, it's hydrating, and my skin just loves it. I truly wish it didn't, but it does. I keep searching to find something that works better on my skin than this, and I have yet to find it, so I keep purchasing it. Now, this is not the normal size, they did gift this to me, which they don't do very often. This is 100ml. Their standard sizes are the 30 and the 50; I tend to buy it in the 50. They launched this big whopper and I could never afford to buy this one myself, but she's been going on for a long time."

"I ordinarily finished off my routine with my beloved Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. You'll know how much I love that product and I am never without it. However, I find that I don't need both because they are so hydrating, so I moved my Augustinus Bader Rich Cream to the morning, which is really unusual."

✨ My Beauty Empties: Skin, Hair & Body Care | Will I Repurchase?
"This is my favorite moisturizer of all time and I'm constantly trying to find something to replace it, something that I like more, because it's too freaking expensive. I am on their refill program so I get a 50ml for £200 instead of the regular £250, but that's crazy money, yet I keep doing it. If there is anything that I might like better than this, please tell me, because that's crazy money and I don't want to keep spending it."

"It's got their trigger factor concentrate what they call TFC8, which is also oolog peptide 177 and it's just a tissue protecting peptide. So this stuff is really nice to use. I have pretty dry skin, but sometimes I'll use it in the spring and summer. And the Rich Cream is probably a little bit more my favorite for winter, but this stuff's pretty nice for summer. I like that it has no scent to it, but the little bit of alcohol in there for some people could be an issue or a no-go, but probably just depends."

"I love this stuff but it's so darn expensive. It's very tiny, 7 milliliters. I really like it, I just can't per mentally purchase it again because if I'm going to spend that much money it's going to be the Skin Medicics TNS serum that I'm going to buy and not this. But this is nice too, and if people love it and it works for them, go for it."

"I love the Rich Cream. They have their famous ingredient, the TFC8 complex, a proprietary molecule or formula that includes stem cell properties, and they also use a lot of antioxidant rich ingredients in their product. I definitely do see benefits with the Rich Cream. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. Because I do think the Rich Cream does work, I'm going to give it a four, but it's just very expensive. I don't want people to feel pressure that they have to get it."

"Augustinus Bader is a brand I love and respect. It's very expensive so I limit how often I recommend it, but the sale is a time to explore it. This is their Rich Cream with TFC8, a patented technology that optimizes the skin's renewal process, discovered in burn victims, so it can really help your skin regenerate and renew, especially if you're sensitive to retinols. It has a blend of amino acids, high-grade vitamins and molecules that work with your skin's stem cells to boost repair, hydration and resilience."

Top Hydrating Moisturizers to Strengthen Your Skin Barrier | Dr. Idriss’ Best Picks for Healthy Skin
"This guy by Augustinus Bader, this is their body cream. I love their body cream. It's very expensive, 190 bucks, but you could take a little bit and make it go a very long way by using just a little bit of this on your neck, using a tiny bit of this even for your under eyes if you wanted, because it's a much thicker moisturizer. This is super thick and it kind of reminds me of Nivea, which is a complete insult because it is not Nivea and it's much more expensive, but you do not need to be using this much all the time. This has bisabolol, which helps to support your skin's barrier function, shea butter as well. It's extremely rich. I mean, this just feels lux, and sometimes skincare is aspirational."

"They added in myel alcohol which is irritating plus ketogenic, so I would avoid this if you have acne-prone skin or sensitive skin which can occur pre or post menopause. Plus a retinol percent is quite low at 0.6%, and this is meant to be the hero ingredient that you assume you're buying enough of at this price point. I mean it feels lovely on the skin and there is no irritation, which is what you'd expect at 0.6% retinol."

"I'm so in love with it. It makes me so excited to try more from this brand. I just love this texture. My skin also seems to really be enjoying it and you get so much in here. It's similar to the Augustinus Bader cream which is so expensive. I have tried that before and it's a very unique texture. I do feel like this is so similar and gives such a similar vibe to the skin and you get so much in here for a fraction of the price."

"The ingredient list of the Rich Cream is definitely more stacked than the serum. You have a lot of great natural oils like avocado oil, sunflower seed oil, shea butter, green tea, peptides. But I just don't know if anything could push me to pay that much for a skincare product that's going to run out in like 3 months. You could tell me it adds years onto my life and I still wouldn't buy it."

EUPHORIA Star Chloe Cherry's Skin Care Routine is WILD 😳
"When it comes to Augustinus Bader products, I have always stood behind their formulas. I feel that they definitely use really good high-quality ingredients because they do have really good formulas. They're just like super overpriced and I personally would not spend that much on a product. Looking at the ingredients, there's lots of hydrating agents. Glycerin is the second ingredient. There's also squalane which is one of like the best moisturizing ingredients you can find. A lot of good natural extracts, sodium hyaluronate, ginseng, green tea, pomegranate wine peptide complex. Do I look at this ingredient list and do I drool a little bit? Yes, I do. But the price point makes that drool go right back up into my mouth. I just can't stand behind their price points. But their formulas are good."

"The ingredient list is patented, so you'll never really know what it has, but I somehow just don't see the value in this product. It's not a bad product, it's a nice cream, and any cream can give you the same impact. A lot of celebrities use it because they get it for free. I definitely would not recommend it. This brand is not worth your money."

"I love this cream because it's rich, it's thick, it's super moisturizing, and my skin is historically just so dry and from travel, like it does dry you out. My facialist recommended this cream and I just am addicted to it. Is it overpriced? Absolutely, 100%. The patent that they have is very interesting to me. It's a delivery system and they have it patented, and you can as a consumer go look up this patent. It was created by a doctor, Augustine Bader, who did research and created this patent for medical use, and they basically translated it to an inclusive that can help ingredients penetrate your skin."

"It's the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. Right now at Nordstrom you can get a one-ounce pump and a half-ounce pump for the low, low price of two hundred dollars, yikes, versus two hundred and seventy-two dollars. I've never used this before. Objectively speaking, there's nothing wrong with the ingredients. I do imagine that people who use this and love it appreciate an improvement in moisture content, skin luminosity, and radiance. Do I think you need this cream versus any other moisturizer to get those types of results? No. This is not something I would ever buy myself. It also has a peptide in it, palmitoyl tripeptide-8. Peptides probably just mostly act as humectants. We rely on manufacturer studies, which are obviously going to be biased; it's not like they're testing these peptides in rigorous double-blind placebo-controlled trials. This particular peptide, at least in cells-in-a-dish type models, shows a reduction in inflammatory markers after UV radiation. In skin explants, so a model, not on an actual human, this peptide has been shown to be associated with a decrease in dilated capillaries. And when used on actual humans who have the skin condition rosacea, this particular peptide is associated with a decrease in persistent facial redness. However, that particular study on rosacea patients was using a product that not only had this peptide but also had caffeine, and caffeine can likewise help in minimizing redness, so whether it was the peptide or something else in this cream like the caffeine is hard to determine."
