"The Power Peptides is different to others I have tried both in texture and in price. It has a milky color, is runny but with more body than water, and feels silky when applied. My main issue with other peptide serums is the perceived oiliness on the skin, which was absolutely no issue here, and I didn't notice any scent. It contains four peptides: 3% Matrixyl 3000, 2% Synthe6, 4% Tego Pep 4-17, and an encapsulated copper peptide at 0.001%, all aiming to boost collagen and elastin production, plus glycerin, panthenol and allantoin. It's safe to use alongside retinoids or acids. I personally preferred using it at night as I found it to leave behind some tackiness after application and it could cause pilling when paired with silicone based sunscreens. Regarding the four peptide complexes, the two from the Matrixyl group have the most research behind them, but the other two sound promising as well. Despite the slight tackiness I enjoyed it for night time use as the texture spreads beautifully. I personally still prefer my NIOD Copper Peptides, but this is a great budget version for those that want to incorporate peptides into their routine."

"The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% plus B5 is the reformulated version with extra panthenol added for extra soothing. I really enjoyed that in the winter. Great texture, great price point. It's especially good if your skin isn't only dehydrated but also tends to be irritated or red, which is true for most people with more mature skin who use actives."

"The main focus is the variety of peptides. The Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP+ Serum is very expensive, 100 euros for 30 ml is a lot, and no, it did not magically make my deep wrinkles disappear within the two months I have been using it. But still it has quickly become a favourite of mine. It has a beautiful lightweight texture that offers some hydration, less than a moisturiser, but enough to plump up the skin, which in combination with the Dimethicone will smoothen fine lines. The peptide complex used reads like the Who's Who of peptides targeting signs of aging, and both the drone delivery as well as the Dual Mini Peptides used are an interesting development. Interesting, not groundbreaking, proven scientific discoveries that will change the way we do skincare, but great for someone that likes to step up their basics with more experimental stuff. On the background of Medik8 being a brand that does their own studies, trying to integrate new things into their product development, for me the price is justified. You will always pay more for those putting in the work than you will for those copying the results once they are established. I am aware though that this is more than most people have in their budget for skincare. Still, I am in love."

"The Timeless Matrixyl Synthe'6 Serum is hydration with added peptides from the matrixyl complex, which I enjoy. I have other serums I use for my peptide fix, so I like this for hydration with some peptides extra. It isn't as easy for me to get as other ones and it's in the medium price range, but the Timeless range is quite nice if you want a hydration plus peptide serum and don't want to invest in copper peptides."

"Synthe'6 is another peptide from the Matrixyl complex, the name kind of gives it away, it's supposed to synthesize six important parts of the skin structure like collagen, elastin, and other things. Again it's Matrixyl but not the same as Matrixyl 3000, and it's a hyaluronic acid serum with some extras, perfect for those like myself who are on the more mature side and want to add hydration but with a bonus."

"When I first applied The Inkey List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum, I thought where's the hydration, no instant plumping, no dewy glow. It has the texture of a light lotion with an opaque white color, and I could barely notice any scent, only sometimes a faint whiff of something a little plasticky, though that isn't noticeable after application. The product doesn't offer any instant hydration, it spreads with ease and leaves the skin feeling soft and velvety, but if my skin was particularly dehydrated that day I still felt tightness, no instant relief. The main ingredient is Ectoin at 2 percent, which isn't hydrating in itself but is a film former and stabilizer that prevents transepidermal water loss and soothes the skin, alongside several molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Panthenol, Colloidal Oatmeal, Ceramides, Phytosphingosine and Cholesterol. As this formula isn't occlusive in the slightest, I would without hesitation recommend it for people suffering from acne, especially as Ectoin seems to have a preventing effect on retained irritation in those using prescription retinoids. I have used it consistently over several weeks without it triggering any breakouts, but of course each skin reacts differently. I really wouldn't call it hydrating, at least not in terms of an immediate effect, but while it wasn't great at targeting dehydration immediately, it worked amazing over the course of a few days in making my skin less prone to dehydration. I took it on a one week trip to the mountains in the snow where being outdoors exposed to cold winds and dry air can lead to dryness and irritation when paired with my Tretinoin, and this formula really helped keep my skin happy throughout the whole trip. For me it is a great product to use during winter, and if your skin is prone to dehydration, you might feel the same way."

"On Tretinoin nights I use The Inkey List Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum first. Ectoin is a film former that seems to be beneficial in eczema prone skin and helps protect the skin barrier from irritation. I have already written my review on it and, little spoiler, I really think it helps in the long run, even though I wasn't too impressed at the beginning."

"The Remedy Dark Spot Solution claims to target existing hyperpigmentation as well as prevent new discoloration, without lightening your natural skin tone. It contains 0.1% encapsulated Retinol, meaning the actual released concentration is lower over time, paired with Niacinamide at 5% to help combat retinol irritation, plus Tranexamic Acid at 3%, Mandelic Acid, Kojic Acid, Licorice Root Extract, Glutathione, Silymarine, Acetyl Glucosamine and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate to target discoloration, along with Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Squalane, Green Tea Extract and Ceramides for hydration. The texture is like a light lotion and the scent, faint but resembling cooked carrots, I don't hate but I'm not the biggest fan either. Because of the encapsulation I was able to use it every night from the start, even on my chest, which usually can't tolerate strong retinoids. For some specific concerns a dedicated higher strength product, like a Glycolic Acid, will have more noticeable effect than this, but if you prefer simplicity this serum is a solid all in one option. With patience and diligent sun protection, I think this product has good potential to help with hyperpigmentation. Despite anecdotes of people using it alongside Tretinoin without issues, I would caution against that, since pairing retinoids increases the risk of irritation rather than maximizing results."

"I picked the Remedy for Dark Spots, which has encapsulated retinol, tranexamic acid, glycolic acid, niacinamide, licorice root extract, kojic acid, basically the who's who of hyperpigmentation fighting ingredients, which is great if you suffer from dark spots."

I use alpha arbutin, which has less irritation potential, but is obviously due to that also less effective, and it targets production by inhibiting the Tyrosinase, but in a less potent way than vitamin C does. It also has Squalane, which means that if your skin is more on the oily side it could work as a moisturizer for you. For me it's not quite enough, which is why I follow up with again the Murad Nutrient Charged Water Gel."

"Starting with cleansers, the one that I would get first as an evening cleanse to get off all my makeup is the Geek and Gorgeous Mighty Melt Cleansing Balm. It is one of those products that feels much more luxurious than the price point would make you expect. It has a great texture. It melts away all my makeup. It sometimes struggles a little with waterproof mascara, but I forgive that because it rinses perfectly clean, you really don't need a washcloth. So for me in the past it has doubled up as morning cleanse as well if I was really packing very minimal. So that would be my choice for first cleanse in the evening slash makeup remover."

"The Inkey List Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser looks interesting in color with some brown bits floating inside. It promises to be mildly exfoliating, which I don't get because you don't feel the bits on the skin and fulvic acid is not an exfoliating acid. It also claims to be brightening, but I don't really use it for that because it's a wash off product and doesn't have much inside except licorice root extract that I'd look for in a brightening routine. But it's a really nice cleanser that I enjoyed using up."

"I use The Inkey List Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser. Don't be fooled by the name, it has brightening in there, but I don't think it does anything to combat hyperpigmentation. Fulvic acid is not an exfoliating acid, and I don't really think it does much anyway. The only thing it does contain that will target hyperpigmentation is licorice root extract, but even if it had the right concentration I don't think it would have the maximum effect in a wash-off product. Why do I use the cleanser? Because it's not stripping. I like the texture and because it's open and I need to finish some things."

"I cleanse with a non-stripping gel cleanser. The one I am using here is The Inkey List Fulvic Acid Cleanser, other options are the Geek and Gorgeous Jelly Joker or something along those lines. I am not that picky as long as it doesn't strip my skin."

"It didn't feel right around the eyes. The website will advise you to stay clear of the eyes. I don't think it's dangerous for use around the eyes, but I don't think it is meant to remove eye makeup, just the regular face makeup, which is why I don't usually use it as a first step. And when you look at The Inkey Way to double cleanse, it is actually listed as second cleanser after using The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm as first cleanse to really remove every trace of makeup and then go in with a second cleanse afterwards. And I think for that it works really fine. So either for that or as a morning cleanse is how I prefer to use it. Looking at the ingredients, you have glycerin as humectant which is a very good humectant but probably not the most effective in a wash-off product, and you also have betaine made from sugar beet which pulls in water as well. Same here, it gets washed off, so I'm not sure how much hydrating effect it will have on the skin. Then there's shea butter which has emollient properties, some rice bran oil which is also good for this protective layer, and inulin. Inulin is said to be food for the good skin bacteria, so promoting a healthy skin microbiome. If you've seen my videos on the skin microbiome, you know that there is no definition of what a good skin microbiome is, so I can't say for sure if inulin is helpful, but it is a so-called probiotic. All in all, not a very exciting ingredient list."

"The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm is a great one for removing makeup in the winter. It is the second time I finished it, and while some people claim it is too harsh on their skin due to the tiny granules it contains, I never had any issues with them."

"I enjoyed the Dr. Sam's Flawless Moisturizer Intense a lot. It was very good at keeping my skin calm and happy through a quite cold winter with regular tretinoin use. While it might not be the one that makes me excited about grabbing it, it is one that I was grateful for during winter on tretinoin. I'm not sure about the NAD+ boosting claims as I did not find anything outside the brand and manufacturer's website that supports the use of sunflower shoot extract for that. But it is one that I can recommend, especially if your skin gets irritated easily, you use strong actives like exfoliants or retinoids, and want something that just works. It is probably not the one that I would recommend if you want your moisturizer to do the main work in your anti-aging skincare routine, or if you can't stand the feeling of a product sitting on your skin."

"The one that I have already tried and didn't know before is the Dr. Sam's Flawless Moisturizer Intense. I tried the regular version, I guess, the one without the intense, which was a very nice plain moisturizer. This one is rather rich and it feels firm, but again, not greasy. I enjoyed it using in nights before tretinoin because it is really calming and it feels like it protects the skin. Great for me for the colder months. The Dr. Sam's Moisturizer claims to be NAD+ rich."

"Then I go for a thick occlusive cream, right now this one is the Real Barrier Extreme Cream, this is okay. This is just to put a buffering layer between my tretinoin and my skin, especially around the mouth, because when the weather is cold, even though I only use it every other night, my skin can get a little flaky and irritated."

"The Extreme Cream claims to be an ultra rich cream delivering long lasting moisture. Given my skin is more normal to oily, I assumed the texture wouldn't be to my liking, and my first impression dipping my fingers into the pot seemed to confirm that: it is very firm to the touch, has a slightly herbal scent and looks like a medicinal ointment. After giving it a go I was pleasantly surprised: yes, it is much richer than what I usually reach for, but once put onto the skin it melts into a moisturizing layer that isn't tacky and leaves the skin feeling protected. For my skin it is a night time only product, I wouldn't want it on my face during the day, especially not now that it is summer, but it was great in the winter when my skin was upset from cold and Tretinoin. Depending on skin type it might still work in the warmer months, but unless your face is very dry or very irritated I don't think it's perfect for mornings. It contains glycerin, allantoin, panthenol, madecassoside, acetyl dipeptide-1 cetyl ester, emollient plant oils including olive oil and sunflower seed oil, dimethicone, phospholipids and the MLE complex. It isn't a regular product for me, but one I reach for when my skin needs extra protection, most often during winter. It's one I would only reach for when my skin was dry and upset, as it is on the heavy side, but again without being greasy, and it's probably best suited for more dry skin types."

"The first one, one that hasn't changed over the years, is the Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow Serum. I love ascorbic acid, I've been using vitamin C daily, and this is the one that I go back to because it is great in texture. It is lightweight, it does not irritate my skin, and it is very affordable and easy for me to pick up at the drugstore, and it has never ever oxidized on me. It works perfectly fine for the 3 months plus I need to finish one bottle. I know not everyone does get along with L-ascorbic acid because it needs a low pH and that can be irritating, but for me it works perfectly fine, so I don't feel the need to stray from it."

"The IT Cosmetics CC Cream just didn't work for me. It does deliver the full coverage it promises, but the texture felt heavy, almost like a thick moisturizer mixed with concealer, and it has a citrussy scent that reminded her of air fresheners. Within the first two hours it started breaking down around her nose and mouth, and by hour four it looked like she'd been wearing the foundation for three days straight, patchy and crusty. Applying it was tricky: fingers didn't work at all and kept lifting the product off, a sponge was better but still lifted product in previously applied areas, and a dense foundation brush gave the most even coverage. She wears the shade Light, a good match but on the lighter side, out of 30 available shades, though her store only stocked about a third and the rest had to be ordered online, calling it a 47 euro gamble. On the SPF 50+ claim, she said the amount needed to actually reach that protection level, four to five pumps, would be completely unwearable, since she normally uses one to one and a half pumps. The formula's SPF ingredients differ by shade, with lighter shades using Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide and deeper shades using Homosalate, Octisalate and Octocrylene instead, which she thinks could explain why some people love it and others hate it. It also contains Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, snail secretion filtrate, Green Tea Extract, Colloidal Oatmeal, and two peptides from the Matrixyl 3000 complex, plus citrus essential oils that might irritate sensitive skin. The result was the same whether her skin was oilier in summer or drier in winter from her Tretinoin use."

It has a distinct warm scent, very pleasant but definitely noticeable. The packaging is a tube with a dispenser, which I quite liked, though my husband found it difficult to keep standing upright and said it needed a few extra pumps once it neared the end. The retinal in the formula is stabilized, which is a good thing since retinal is unstable on its own. It also contains emollients like squalane, humectants like glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, antioxidants like vitamin E, two vitamin C derivatives, and fragrant plant extracts like honeysuckle. They are however quite expensive, and I understand that this might be more than you are willing to pay for 30 ml of product, and for that there are more affordable alternatives out there that will have similar results with minor compromises in texture and options to choose from."

"When you read '6.5% retinoid' on a product like the Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum, you probably expect it to be seriously strong, but that number can be a little misleading and might not mean what you think. Sunday Riley calls this an advanced-strength retinoid serum with a 6.5% solution of stabilized retinoid blends and botanical retinol-alternative extracts. If you have read anything about this product online, you probably know that it has a controversial smell, some say it smells like unwashed feet or melted crayons, others aren't bothered by it at all. I think it has a distinct and unpleasant musky smell, my husband claims he doesn't notice any scent at all, but whatever you perceive, the scent isn't strong or overpowering. The product is runnier than I expected and slightly yellow, something not uncommon in retinoid blends. The texture is beautiful, spreads easily and leaves the skin feeling soft without tackiness. The 6.5% is a mixture of 5% retinol-ester blend, 1% liposomal encapsulated retinol blend, and 0.5% blue-green algae claiming retinol-like activity, plus 0.5% Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, also known as Granactive Retinoid. Taken all that into account, I would argue that this is a low to medium strength product, depending on the actual potency of the retinol ester blend that I can't judge. I admit I am torn if the Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum is something I would recommend. On the pro side it has a beautiful texture and makes the skin feel instantly smooth. The cons are the 'high dose retinoid' claim that in my opinion isn't backed by the ingredients they are using, I think it is medium strength at best, and that feels slightly misleading with the 6.5% prominent on the label when only a fraction of this 6.5% is actually retinol. My husband who doesn't really care about claims is a fan due to how his skin feels after using it, so I think in the end it comes down to how you personally feel about that and how much you are willing to pay as it isn't exactly cheap. The lower strength means it might be a good option for people not experienced with retinoids and the high price point makes it probably more suitable for those among us that are more mature and willing to splurge, because a significant part of the price reflects the branding and luxurious packaging, not just the formulation itself."

It isn't completely see through, has the color of white tea or diluted apple juice, a very watery texture, and a faint musky scent straight out of the bottle that dissipates quickly. The twist cap is great for controlling how much product comes out. Despite being called a daily exfoliant, I personally used it only two to three times a week, especially in winter when my skin is more sensitive, though depending on the rest of your routine using it daily or multiple times a week might work. I apply it with my palms rather than cotton pads since pads absorb too much product. The main ingredient is Glycolic Acid, with a pH of 3.6 according to the brand, which is good, plus humectants like glycerin and natural moisturizing factors such as urea and sodium PCA and sugars, some plant extracts for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and amino acids that help with hydration and healing. It's a straightforward formula without much extra fluff. It won't give the same drastic results as a stronger peeling product, but it is much harder to overdo and works great against texture with regular use. Some people recommend it against acne, but while it helps with leftover texture and medication, it wouldn't be my first choice for that. For me this is a great one against texture and a good supporting act against stubborn hyperpigmentation, and due to its versatility a valuable addition to your skincare stash."

After three months of using it, my hair feels healthier and there is less breakage around my ends, and comparing pictures from three months ago to now, my hair definitely hasn't gotten worse. After several weeks of using it, my hair does feel stronger and less prone to breakage, though it's not a magic bullet that will completely erase years of damage. Despite the high price, I will repurchase it. I think it's a worthwhile investment for anyone with damaged, bleached, or chemically treated hair, particularly if you're dealing with thinning or breakage, and for those with very fine hair it's lightweight enough that it won't weigh your hair down. However, if your hair is already in great condition, you might not see dramatic results that justify the cost. The first few times I applied it the results were underwhelming, in fact I nearly stopped until I learned I could follow up with leave in products once I had let it sit for four minutes. If it is short term results you are after, this is not the product to reach for, but if you are willing to believe it will repair your hair long term, it could be a game changer. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve in terms of finding the best routine to suit your hair's unique needs."

I still get congestion even though I'm on Tretinoin, and to combat that I use a salicylic acid product three times a week. This is the one that I have been coming back to ever since I first discovered it. I'm really just bummed out that I didn't try it earlier on in my acne journey. It would probably have saved me quite a lot of irritation, because what I find with salicylic acids is that the sweet spot between keeping congestion at bay and irritating my skin is hard to find, and with this one that works perfectly fine. I also like the texture. I know there are others out there that work as well, both in terms of irritation potential and in terms of congestion combating, but for me the texture in Paula's Choice is just more elegant, and I personally am willing to pay more for that. That's a personal decision, you don't have to. Others work just as well, but for me Paula's Choice is the one that I would go back to."
