"This is a new launch from Remedy. Remedy came out with a new vitamin C serum that has the derivative free zeroth ascorbic acid. They gave me the lab sample and I went through it like crazy and I'm still using it and I bought another one. So, this is definitely a favorite for those of you who cannot tolerate L-ascorbic acid. This is a great choice. You know how Remedy stacks their formulas? They always have such amazing ingredients and it also has DNA repair enzymes in the form of phytoplankton which I think is so interesting. Remedy has so many stacked formulas. Like if you buy one of their skincare products, you're getting multiple amazing ingredients."

"I've gotten through I think three of these now. This is the Bloom Effects. This is their regenerating brightening serum. Love this. It has exoomes and also brightening products. It's a beautiful brightening serum. If you have not tried Exooazomes, which are basically stem cell secretions, these are from the tulip bulb. So, this is a plant-based Exoome. It's beautiful. Super hydrating. It goes nicely under a lot of your other serums. Unless you have oily skin, you may have to limit the number of serums you use. I've gone through, I think, three of these or in the middle of my third one. So, you know, I love it."

I have extremely dry skin and I have found that most body oils just sit on top of my skin. They just sit there and they just transfer to my sheets. This actually soaks in. So, love this. And also, you should know that if you're using a retinoid that night and then you put a moisturizer and a body oil, you're going to occlude that. And so, it might have a little bit deeper of a penetration as well as your lactic acid."

"One of my favorite finds recently has been the City Lips Effortless Lips Night Oil. As you can see, I've almost finished. I've gone through two of these. It's their plumping oil. Love this for night time. You can use it during the day, but I find it works better overnight. It just sinks into the lip area. Is absolutely gorgeous. They have two new launches in this line, the pink champagne and sangria, which I'm just getting ready to open and try. I try to use my lip oils at night. And I also find that an oil at night is more penetrating and hydrating, whereas a lip gloss, a lip plumping gloss is a little bit better solution for the daytime."

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

"AIC acid in suspension 10% is a tricky ingredient to work with because it is a little gritty. When I was breaking out after I did my laser treatment I got some acne and I was also very red so I was really impressed with this AIC acid. If I have some redness I just layer it in my treatment step sleep in it overnight and I usually wake up with less irritated less red skin. It's a very gentle exfoliator, it's an antioxidant, it helps brighten the skin, it can also inhibit tyrosinase which is an enzyme that causes hyperpigmentation so it has a lot of functions. Some people don't like the fact that this is kind of a chalky formula but I think it's great, just put a little on, let it sink in, put a little facial oil in the evening and you'll wake up with much softer, gentle, less irritated skin. It's also slightly antibacterial so if you do have a breakout it can help with that too. It's a great multitasking formula."

The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum

"The Ordinary's barrier Repair Serum [...] is a great little serum for comforting the skin. It has 10 emollients and 6 humectants, so what's the difference between an emollient and a humectant? We need both to repair your barrier or to help with dry skin. Humectants are just like they sound, they attract water to the skin. Skin needs hydration and water to heal it up. It also needs an emollient, which means that it needs some lipids to create a barrier and protect it. So you need both emollient and humectant if you want to repair your barrier, and this has both. I really highly recommend this. The only caution I have with this is don't use a heavy layer. It's a pretty thick formula, a little bit actually goes a long way, especially if you're going to layer this with other skincare. It does get a little tacky if you use too much, so I would say use this sparingly and do it in layers if you think you want more hydration and more barrier repair. But at night you could layer it up with a few layers, put a facial oil on top, and wake up in the morning feeling so much better."

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

"The first one I want to share with you is mandelic acid. I actually recommended this to my friend whose daughter had terrible dry acne. The key with this is it's great for rosacea and dry acne because it breaks up the oil in the skin, it hydrates the skin, and it also kind of reduces the redness. It's a very interesting formula. The one thing that folks who have regular acne or just not dry acne might not like is it feels a little bit oily. It's an oil-free product but it kind of goes on the skin a little bit on the oily side, so it might feel a little uncomfortable on people who have oily acne skin. But if you have dry acne, if you have rosacea, or if you're just very sensitive and have very sensitive skin, this is a very gentle exfoliator. It's antimicrobial, it's antibacterial, it will mop up the oil in your skin and just give that skin a little bit of a break and gentle exfoliation while your skin is healing. And it's a perfect exfoliator to kind of get rid of those dead skin cells very gently."

"Next up is marula oil. Now this is a heavier oil. This is actually made a lot of, um, hair products have marula oil in them and they're used to coat the hair shaft, treat the hair shaft by coating the hair shaft, locking down the cuticle so that the hair doesn't experience damage. You can use the combination of the squalane and the marula to make your own pre-treat hair oil. I've been really into pre-treating my hair with oil before I've been shampooing lately to reduce the frizz, has increased the shine and manageability, and actually has been giving me a lot more body because I'm really protecting that hair before I go into the shower. If you have really fine hair you want to do maybe a few more drops of the squalane and maybe one of the marula. If you have thick hair that's really damaged, go for the marula oil, put some in a little bit of it before you wash your hair and your hair will come out so much softer and more manageable. I think keeping these around in your cabinet is great because they're great for skin care, hair care, and nail care."

"I thought I would try the Maelove Super Smooth Resurfacing Serum. I definitely have some dullness lately. I'm actually due for a dermaplaning routine but I haven't done one in well over a month. I'm going to do some chemical exfoliants as opposed to manual exfoliation like dermaplaning, as I get breakouts especially when I'm stressed along my mouth and jaw and chin area. This is a good one. I wouldn't use this every day, I do have sensitive skin, but it's a good resurfacing serum and it's not all that expensive. Just a half a dropper, and if you're using this during the day, 110 percent you need to use sunscreen, because AHA and BHA can make your skin a little bit sensitive. The serum is really nice, brightening and hydrating."

"The Dermelect Self-Esteem Beauty Sleep Serum has been in my skincare routine on and off for about 2 years now. It is a great overnight exfoliating treatment. You will wake up with such soft skin. It has a little bit of salicylic acid for just refining pores overnight and it has glycolic acid. Glycolic is a smaller molecule that gets deeper into our skin layers to help with collagen building. So if you're looking for some anti-aging benefits as well as some pore refining, and you want to get in your ascorbic acid, either a second dose of it or you want to skip it in the morning, this is a great alternative. I do have to have a fairly intact barrier to use this product. It will give a bit of a tingle so definitely do patch test. "She also launched a vitamin C, this is an L-ascorbic acid vitamin C formula at 15% so it's at the gold standard, it's at that sweet spot for vitamin C. I have now worked my way up to a 15% love this, no irritation. Like all vitamin C's it's slightly runny. The odor, it has kind of that typical vitamin C odor, some people call it the hot dog smell but it's not too strong. It also tends to sink into the skin fairly well but comparing it to my Holy Grail by Dermatology, their CF, I find that this sinks into the skin a little bit faster, a little bit more easily and layers a little bit better with my skin care. She's included instead of the vitamin E as her antioxidant, she's included Ergothionine, another powerful antioxidant. I think she's kind of made her mark by including a different antioxidant than the typical one that we see, vitamin E. I think if you have slightly normal to dry skin you're going to appreciate this more and if you have oily skin you're probably going to be happier with the vitamin C from Dermatology because it's just a little bit less viscous."

But I found a fix: I prep my under eye first with a small amount of The Ordinary's Volumeane, which is supposed to be a plumping product, just tapped in. That's let me use concealers that normally crease on me, including this one, with minimal to no creasing throughout the day. Also, the applicator on this [...] is slightly tricky, it definitely dispenses too much product, so give it a half pump, put it on the back of your hand, [...] and apply a very small amount to the outside and inside corner, then tap it in. It's in one of those pump tops, it's a really thick formula and it just didn't work out as a sunscreen for me. I didn't give it a very good review in the spring because the white cast really lingers. It's very thick, it's very emollient, and it just kind of feels greasy to be perfectly honest. But I am going to give this sunscreen another try in the cold or windy snowy months because it's very emollient. I think it's going to be very skin protective as well as helping with sun protection."

It is supposed to be a plumping product, but I gave it a try as an under eye concealer prep, and I have been able to use all the concealers that typically crease in my under eye, and they last throughout the day with minimal to no creasing. You don't need a lot of this. The applicator is slightly tricky and definitely dispenses too much product, so give it a half pump. I put it on the back of my hand, just a half pump, and apply a very small amount in the outside and inside corner, and then I tap tap tap it in. If I warm this up with my finger and apply the Volufiline before the concealer, it brightens and it doesn't crease. This tip has actually turned this into one of my favorite concealers."

I've also let it stand open for a little while, since I learned that tubing mascaras when they're very wet, if you leave them open for a little while and they have the opportunity to dry out just a touch, they apply so much better. I'm getting less fallout, and I like the look a lot better because it's more of a natural look as opposed to the spidery look I was getting. "The Milani got a two out of five score on the application. It applied very wet and it took a while to dry down. It would transfer when I blinked so I had to do quite a bit of cleanup. The lashes are long, they're a little bit on the spiky side, not very natural looking, so a four out of five on the look. On the smudge ability, I waited a few hours in between each kind of like a midday, like if you would just rub your eye. This only got a two out of five on the smudge factor. It did smudge off if you touched your lashes. If you don't touch these, the fallout is very minimal, but if you have to touch your lash, which I happen to do because I have allergies and I just naturally get itchy around the eye area, so for me a mascara is number one if it doesn't have a high smudge factor. Washing off, this was a bit of a surprise. The wash off took five swipes. I doused each eyelash in water, kind of got them saturated like if I was in the shower, and then I wiped them off to see if the tubes came off."

You can't have a lip gloss on your lips if you're going to use this lip pencil or else it just doesn't apply. I made several mistakes and there was nothing there. You have to have moisturized lips, but don't put on a lip gloss or a heavy layer of your sleep mask before you start this process or your lip pencil won't show up. Overlining done, not too bad, I think I did okay. I don't think it's too crazy looking."

"I'm about two-thirds through the Dermelect Smooth Upper Lip Periorbital Anti-Aging Treatment. I've never used a dedicated product for the upper lip, but we do get those barcode lines and anything I can do to soften that area I'm all about. This does have some dedicated hydrating ingredients that probably will plump up the nasolabial folds and upper lip lines. It contains arbutin, Matrixyl 3000 which is a peptide complex, retinol, and GABA to tighten, as well as hyaluronic acid. It goes right above the lip area and along the nasolabial folds. I haven't noticed a huge difference, but it is slightly plumping. That said, I do have a little problem with the applicator. This little rollerball keeps kind of coming off, and the product comes out really quickly, so you need to be very gentle if you're trying to dispense a small amount. It comes out very quickly and you can't lock it, so when I store it a lot of the product gets into the cap. There are a few packaging problems with this in my opinion."

"The Foreo Bear Mini, I actually really like this. The globes are farther apart so I can kind of get some contouring in the under cheek area and the jawline really easily. It's portable and this is water resistant, where none of the other devices are, so it's really convenient. It's really tiny and it has several modes. The only thing with Foreo is I find it's hard to deal with the app. The app and I just don't seem to get along, and you have to register your device. If you lose the QR code when you first start, it is a pain in the butt to figure out how to link your device to the app because it won't even charge up, so that is a drawback to the Foreo products. The [...] microcurrent [...] on this is pretty intense, and adjusting it isn't as easy on the app as I had hoped."

"This one is actually fascinating. You would think it was the budget option because at checkout it's about half the price of the IT Cosmetics, but ounce for ounce it comes out almost exactly the same, about $53 per ounce compared to about $54 per ounce for the Do It All Balm. It does come with a little puff applicator, but I still prefer applying it with a brush. It actually has more skincare ingredients than the Do It All Balm. I expected it to be a little bit more hydrating, it is hydrating, but it doesn't have that dewy finish, it's a little bit more matte. It leaves a beautiful finish on the skin, it slightly covers up my imperfections and it feels a little lighter on the skin. The L'Oreal Balm is that perfect in between, a slight budget buy. If you've never tried a balm before, I think this is the one you should probably try, and if you have normal skin and want a little bit of coverage without a lot of glow, this is the one I'd recommend. For my personal favorite, it's the L'Oreal Balm. It gives me enough coverage, it's not too dewy, it doesn't give me that overglow feel that sometimes I can get in these warmer months."

Super complimentary and this just does the trick for a nice minimalist makeup look with absolutely no creasing in the under eye area or the crows feet area. Lasts all day long. The end of the day, I'm so shocked that these two are still there. They don't wear the way I expected them to for a skin tint. I expected them to be gone by midday or at least showing a lot of breakthrough. But Typology for me lasts a good 6 to 8 hours and still looks fresh by the end of the day. It's a skin tint that needs a bit of skin care, and it's a nice bonus to have a few skincare ingredients in your tinted moisturizer or your skin tint. This also has a little bit more coverage than I would prefer in a skin tint. I definitely like the beauty blender application technique because it's just a little bit more of skin peeking through no makeup makeup look. But if you like a medium coverage, you're probably going to like this and you would probably do best to apply it with your fingers and then maybe blend it out a little bit with a brush. I scored this a three out of five on texture because it claims to be weightless and it definitely isn't weightless on the skin. Even with my dry skin, I can feel this product by the end of the day. And if you have oily skin, you're definitely not going to like the fact that this feels a little bit heavy on the skin. Or if you live in a humid climate, you're probably going to not like the fact that this has a little bit more weight than it claims to have. So it gets a three out of five for texture. I've used the hydroquinone and retinoate retinoid formula from dermatology without any problem, but this contains 0.002% tretinoin for the under eye and I was all about it. I love it. It's a very silky formula, never had any irritation with this whatsoever, and I love the way that it felt and hydrated my under eye overnight. If you're not familiar with Agency, they are an online compounding prescription dermatology service and I have had great luck with them. If you're interested in trying them, I'll put a link down below. If you want to try tretinoin and you can't take the higher percentages, they can compound a formula for you at a really, really low percent. My very first percent for my face was 0.009, so they start you out low and they could have compounded it with even a lower percentage."

"Both Paula's Choice and The Ordinary have recently come out with two new retinoid products both at 0.2% retinaldehyde. This is the highest percentage I've seen on the market, maybe Medicaid might have one at this percentage but I believe this is the highest that you can go before you head into prescriptions. And remember retinaldehyde is about 11 times more effective according to studies than retinol, and of course it's not as effective as prescription tretinoin or retinoic acid. But sometimes my skin just can't tolerate my prescription and I think it'd be interesting to see if it can tolerate the 0.2% retinaldehyde. I've been able to tolerate 0.1% very easily."

The biggest thing for me was how consistently good my under eye area looked and felt when I was using the product. It was hydrated, it felt soothed, especially during my allergy flare-ups. My under eye area looked brighter and just more refreshed. I do think the hydrating properties gave me a little subtle plumping effect and made some of those tiny little dehydrated lines look a lot better. This one just seems to be a bit different. "Pillow Talk Derm sent me a couple extra of their Major Fade Flash Mask. This is a glycolic wash off mask, unlike the TLC by Drunk Elephant, the Framboos, this is a glycolic serum that you leave on overnight, this one you wash off. It's pretty potent. When I first started using it I could only use it for a couple minutes and then I had to wash it off, and then I built my tolerance up and I used it on my face and neck and decolletage to about 8 to 10 minutes once a week. So I highly recommend this if you can tolerate glycolic, this would be one definitely for you to try. Glycolic acid is an AHA and it gets a little bit deeper, it's a smaller molecule, gets a little bit deeper, so it helps with collagen and elastin building. I received one of their travel size a couple months ago, and it's one of the few travel size items in the collection that they gave me that I actually really like. I think the glycolic is a pretty low percentage in this formula, because I had absolutely no irritation. If you're trying a new chemical exfoliant, whether it's a wash off mask or a leave on serum, it's always wise to do a patch test, especially if you're not sure how your skin is going to react."

If you have a slightly larger face, then you might prefer this one, which does have more diodes. But in my personal opinion they're slightly interchangeable because they have the correct dose. Even though the Omnilux mask has more LED red light bulbs, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're getting a different dose because it's a little larger, and if you have a larger face it kind of goes around the side and definitely gets the side of your face and part of your ear."

"If you're putting Vaseline over your retinoid, you may get a stronger irritation from it. If you do all your active skincare and then put a barrier occlusive layer on like Vaseline, you will be locking in that active skincare, which may intensify the effects. Vaseline as a buffer for retinoids yes, but make sure you're putting it on first and then your retinoid. Vaseline in the place of a facial oil yes, it can be a wonderful step as the very last step in your evening skincare routine to lock in your skincare. Once again, do realize if you have active skincare on underneath the Vaseline, it could be driving those active ingredients further into the skin and intensifying the effect of your active skincare. Vaseline overnight for your cuticles and your nails, definitely a thumbs up. It can help repair your hangnails overnight. It also helps with transepidermal water loss if you end up with really dry, brittle nails. A little Vaseline can go a long way. Vaseline for chafing has been known to help with chafing for years, and in those summer months when you've got a little bit of chafing, it's the perfect antidote."
