Yay or Nay?

Yay
Niacinamide is a beautiful ingredient that hydrates the skin, gives an even tone, nourishes, and takes care of free radicals. It's overrated? No, I love niacinamide. My go-to is 10 to 20 percent. Twenty can get a bit irritating, but ten is fantastic. It's a good starter ingredient because very rarely do people not tolerate it.

Nay
I'm seeing this all the time. Many of my patients are getting contact dermatitis from niacinamide serums at higher doses. Definitely an irritant. And when we cause more inflammation, we're just getting melanin being spilled all over the place.

What the whole panel says

These two are not the only voices on Niacinamide serum. Across every independent expert take we hold, it carries a Guru Score of 70% from 2 experts, which is the share of them who approved it. See every take on it →

Why we only pair takes from the same month

A formula gets reworked, a price moves, and a product people loved in one year is not the product they are handed in the next. Two takes far apart in time can look like a disagreement when they are really a description of a product that changed. So a face-off only pairs experts whose videos went up within a month of each other, and neither take here is sponsored.
