What the gurus are saying

Gurus who weighed in split on ZO. One praises the line as solid medical-grade skincare and finds it works well when you narrow down to the right products for your skin. The other finds the 'medical grade' label largely marketing spin and bristles at the brand's messaging around moisturizers, particularly that they claim hydration makes skin lazy while selling moisturizing products themselves. That means the line may suit some skin types and philosophies but not others.

"Medical grade is just a marketing thing to market and position more expensive stuff to people who are interested in paying more for face wash basically. The ZO you specifically asked about, they get on my nerves, just to be frank. It's not an objective criticism of them other than they get on my nerves with their whole moisturizers make the skin lazy rhetoric while simultaneously selling moisturizing products."

"I prefer the medical grade stuff. I like ZO. I know for some people it doesn't work, but for me you just have to find the right bits. It's good stuff but I keep it pretty simple."
