"There's the Walgreens brand scar gel. Definitely can work. The sooner you start using it and the more consistently you use it the better."

"Silicone scar gels can definitely help improve the final appearance of raised thickened scars. They don't do really much though for atrophic scars, meaning scars that are depressed below the skin surface. If you're somebody who tends to make thicker scars at the time of injury when the skin is healing, if you wear silicone scar gels it definitely can help. The way it works is it softens and hydrates the skin, cuts down on frictional forces that otherwise lead to more thickening of the scar and blood vessels coming in. An area that's really prone is your chest, especially if you get surgery there or just get a cut there, it's a difficult area to heal and often forms thickened scars, so this can definitely help."

"I found this at Walgreens, which has centella in it. If you're thinking scar is textural and you're using this and you're trying to make the texture go away, good luck, you can use this for a hundred years it will not help. But if you are using this because you have redness and you want that redness to get minimized, this may actually be a nice adjunct. It is a very lightweight gel so you're not going to feel like you're clogging your skin."
