    What the gurus are saying

Gentle enough not to strip skin yet antimicrobial enough to reduce bacteria on skin, this spray is particularly useful for sweat-triggered issues like itch, acne, and mask breakouts. It's also anti-inflammatory, making it useful for eczema and inflamed skin barriers, and you can use it safely every day, morning and night. At just under fifteen dollars, it delivers the kind of medical-grade antimicrobial protection usually found in pricier products.

"This stuff is great when you get really sweaty if it makes your face itch. Hypochlorous can be helpful for reducing itch and people who have atopic dermatitis and sweat is a common trigger for that. Plus, it's antibacterial. It can kind of help cut down on body odor too if you get really sweaty. People who have acne prone skin like to use it because it's anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, but it's not like an established acne treatment."

"Walgreens has a hypochlorous spray. Hypochlorous acid is good for potentially helping to cut down on the burden of bacteria on the skin surface. I personally find it most useful as someone with atopic dermatitis for reducing sweat induced itch. It has been shown to be helpful for calming down itch in patients who have atopic dermatitis. $12.99 here at Walgreens."

"Hypochlorous acid is one that has been used in medicine for decades. I actually use it before every cosmetic procedure to clean my patients' faces because it has antimicrobial effects and it is gentle, so it's not going to over strip their skin like using plain isopropyl alcohol or an alcohol wipe. It is now available in fancier forms at nicer stores but you can also get it at your local drugstore as a generic. This is one that is available at Walgreens and it is really not that expensive at all. You can use it every day on your face in the morning and at night. If you're somebody who wears a mask for whatever reason, at the height of the pandemic I used to spray my mask with hypochlorous acid to minimize the breakout around the mouth area."

"I have recently discovered this one for ten dollars by Walgreens. It is their cleansing spray, which is also hypochlorous solution. It is a combination of sodium hypochlorite and phosphoric acid to help create a hypochlorous solution, which also works in the same way. These two are great to help you control your acne throughout the day. If you are wearing a mask, just spray this all over and go live your life and make sure that it is working for you, or spray it on the inside of your mask to clear off any bacteria throughout the day. I love these guys."

"This is one that you can definitely use as well. It is from Walgreens. It's actually a cleansing spray, it's hypochlorous acid. It is a knockoff version of the Tower 28. If you break out instead of using regular water, this is actually a nice one to help to minimize breakouts, or if you have eczema I would recommend this one over the Evian."

"If you have superficial eczema, light redness, kind of like an inflamed skin barrier and you just want to try to calm it down a little bit without using a steroid, you can use hypochlorous acid. We use this in office before procedures."
