  • Packaging reported to leak

What the gurus are saying

This essence builds visible firmness and a dewy glow with consistent use, though experts split on whether the PDRN itself or the ginseng and ceramides deserve the credit. One dermatologist found the polyglucronic acid and niacinamide doing most of the heavy lifting for hydration and moisture retention, with modest help from PDRN; others credit the ginseng as the star ingredient for elasticity and radiance. The texture is thick and creamy, not watery, so a light mist while applying helps it spread and absorb on damp skin, and a little goes a long way despite the higher price point.

"I do really like their PDRN serum. It's a little bit more of a moisturizing serum, but it's a great PDRN based serum, and it's even on sale."

"I think I'm still going to say the VT PDRN serum is my favorite for me personally, even though I did like that the IOP PDRN was a gel-like serum in contrast to the creamy serum that the VT PDRN is. Both are vegan PDRN."

"I love a lot of the products from VT PDRN because they make it plant based, so if you care about that you can try it out. Their serum is highly recommended for dry mature skin. One thing I really like is that it's a pumping type, I like that it's small."

Viral K-Beauty vs What Koreans Actually Use: Which is better? And Why?
"Of the PDRN serums, VT is the most heavy, it feels more like a little lotion, in between a serum and a lotion, pretty thick. I love using it before makeup and I use it more for dry, mature skin. This season, in winter, I like the VT one the most. This one is also plant derived rather than from salmon, so if you're looking for something more vegan, this is it."
What You Should Know Before You Buy Viral Korean Skincare Products!
"This is very milky, not too greasy, and after I absorb it, it makes my skin the most glowy. I'd recommend it more for dry, mature skin, especially in winter. Even for my skin it can be too heavy, so I don't think I'll reach for it that often in summer. It's plant based, so if you don't want to try the salmon extract you can try this instead. It claims to have 100,000 PPM of PDRN, but it's listed last on the ingredient list, which means it's going to be a really small amount. I called them and asked and they couldn't tell me the exact number, so I don't think it's going to be that much PDRN. As a wintertime night serum it's okay for me, no problem, but some of the reviews say the packaging is leaking, so keep that in mind too."
I Tested EVERY Olive Young Best Seller to find the BEST
"VT PDRN serum, I absolutely love it. I use it with a lot of the clients. So many clients took pictures of this, but let's say if you're oily combo skin, and if you're like a teenager, like young skin, this one feels too heavy. It's very milky, thick."

"I used the VT PDRN Essence 100 Elasticity and Wrinkle Care. Still say PDRN is a complete bozo marketing claim. But this particular PDRN essence, the formula has a nice slippery texture. I'm very texturally oriented. At the end of the day, a lot of these things end up doing more or less the same thing, moisturizing the skin. This is a moisturizer with a nice emollient finish. So I liked it in that regard. But the thing about this is not only was this one the PDRN marketing bozo, but they took the clown show full and claimed that this was a plant derived PDRN from panax ginseng extract. We're going to pull something off the shelf that everybody in their mother in the Korean skincare industry and outside of that has been putting in their products diligently for years and now we're just going to pretend that it is a source of reliable deliverable small DNA."

2025 Skincare Trends That Don't Work
"I did a review on PDRN, and I talked about the VT PDRN serum and how as a moisturizer, I thought it was great, but I was skeptical about the PDRN. The marketing draw on that was that it was a vegan PDRN, coming from Panax Ginseng. There is actually pre-clinical study showing that PDRN isolated from Panax Ginseng can do some of the same things in vitro that the salmon stuff does. But the other day, I was thinking about that video and the product because I'm making my way through it, and like I said, it's a decent moisturizer. I thought to myself about the Panax Ginseng extract, and it dawned on me that Panax Ginseng extract has come up multiple times in multiple products I have reviewed over the years."
PDRN Skincare: The Science Behind the Hype
"I don't believe the PDRN in this is doing jack squat. I don't think it's anti-aging to me, I don't think it is necessarily delivering anything above and beyond, maybe it's helping a little bit with moisture retention, but it's a really nice moisturizer. This is a really nice moisturizer in my opinion after personal use. I've rather enjoyed it and would consider repurchasing it even though it was a whopping $32 for 1 oz of this stuff. I think the reason I like it so much is that it has a polyglucuronic acid, which is a polysaccharide that's super hydrating and can have film-forming properties to reduce transepidermal water loss, so it really gives the skin this nice hydrated snappy recoil of what appears to be improved elasticity. It's got niacinamide, an evidence-based ingredient for dark spots, redness, the moisture barrier, anti-aging, and it has ceramides."

"You can see just how much smoother the one hand looks that I applied it to. It really does a nice job hydrating, smoothing skin, and soothing. It helps with wound healing. It does plump up skin and form a radiant skin moisture barrier and create a postsp glow effect to provide healthy glow and elasticity to skin. I would say it helps with most of those benefits. Not exactly from the PDRN that they're naming the product off of, but more from the ceramides and the ginseng that they used. It's got four ingredients of note. The most important one is the isopropyl myristate, which a lot of people can find very irritating. It's not super friendly for acne prone skin types. In terms of the price, this one's starting to sneak up there. It's 30 milliliters and it's 43 bucks, which for a K beauty product is expensive."

"This one uses 100,000 part per million of low molecular ginseng derived PDRN, vegan. It's also enriched with five types of ceramides, polyglutamic acid, panthenol, squalane, and allantoin. It's a little bit more on the expensive side, but it's got a really nice serum kind of gel texture to it, which is nice. A little bit of it goes a long way. They call it an essence, but it's more of a serum moisturizer I would call it. Very nice product and worth checking out."

"When you see PDRN it typically refers to the name for the salmon but they use something different. So just a nice lightweight kind of gel textured serum. I appreciate ginseng root, I really like ginseng in my skin care, it's a great antioxidant. It feels pretty nice on my forehead. I've used it a couple times now and so far so good. The ingredients in it are really good and I like the ginseng and the texture of it feels nice. It does give you kind of a glow and it feels really nice and light on your skin."

"There's one I talked about the VT PDRN Essence 100 Elasticity and Wrinkle Care, that one used a plant type of protein instead of the salmon thing. I don't necessarily know how much I necessarily think some of these plants are going to end up stacking up next to some of the human or the other ones or the salmon ones that are more biologically close to our skin than a plant. But if it doesn't smell like salmon then I'm okay with it. I don't want to smell like salmon."

"I really like the VT PDRN Essence, which has vegan PDRN along with ginseng, plus ten different types of hyaluronic acid and nine types of peptides. I'm getting great barrier support and collagen support even though I'm not using tretinoin in that step, so instead of additional irritation from other actives, I'm just getting better recovery, hydration, and skin supportive ingredients."

"If you're not feeling the salmon or trout extract route and would prefer a vegan PDRN product, this is the best vegan PDRN serum, and actually the very first PDRN product I ever used, the VT Cosmetics PDRN Essence. I also consistently saw this one brought up by chemists and dermatologists talking about PDRN, and it's widely considered to be the best vegan PDRN serum from what I've been able to find. I really enjoy this one. It's very rich and nourishing, a thicker consistency, definitely ideal for overnight use or during the day if you have more dry skin. Compared to all the other products I'm mentioning, this is definitely the thickest and richest. Not only does it have 100,000 ppm, but the rest of the formula is awesome too, especially for overnight use, which is how I really enjoyed using it. It has niacinamide, plus really nourishing ingredients like ceramides, squalane, and allantoin, so it's great for reinforcing the moisture barrier and giving you that glow up in the morning. I've consistently enjoyed using this one when I want a little more skin hydration and moisture, and it's been consistently recommended as the best vegan PDRN serum from what I've seen."

Korean Skin Care Tricks You've Never Heard Of!
"VT Cosmetics was able to naturally extract PDRN from wild ginseng actually grown on Jirisan Mountain, a beautiful mountain in Korea, and used it in their PDRN Essence, a product I've been using and particularly loved. The ginseng is already an incredible ingredient that is really underutilized here in the US, and because it's naturally extracted it means it's certified vegan. But not only does this product have PDRN, it also has ceramides, squalane, panthenol, allantoin, all these ingredients that I constantly talk about here on this channel, basically an amazing mixture of ingredients that helps to fight against skin damage while also deeply moisturizing the skin."

"This is a great PDRN product. If you are interested in plant-based PDRN from VT, this is the product that I suggest you get. This is so so good. It uses 10% of the Wild Gins PDRN. PDRN is all about, you know, it's one of those like complimentary ingredients that just really help your skin to behave more youthful. It helps with the processes that stimulate collagen. It helps with wound healing on the skin. Long-term consistent PDRN use can definitely help with collagen stimulation. It can help with skin elasticity. It can help with just skin firmness overall. And it also just contributes to healthier skin because your skin is just functioning more optimally because it just kind of like energizes all the cells in your skin. PDRN is an ingredient that is vague and subtle, but if you work it, it will work for you. Especially if you combine it with other harder-hitting actives like, you know, retinoids, high percentages of [niacinamide], vitamin C, that kind of deal."

You Put WHAT on Your Face?! | PDRN the Hottest Trend in K-Beauty
"It's very moisturizing but it also makes the skin as you consistently use it it brings out a firmness to the skin that is a really really nice firmness and a smoothness as well. I think with a very long consistent use of this product you will see some good improvements in skin elasticity as well. I'm noticing that my skin looks so so much healthier, so much glowier, maybe even a little bit more glass skin if you will, a little bit more luminous. It's bringing out this healthiness to my skin and that is something that I've noticed from ginseng products in general over the many years that I've been into K Beauty, and that's why I love the ingredient. But it's a quite concentrated benefit with this particular product I think because it's in combination with that isolated DNA polymer that we're getting such a beautiful well aging response in the skin in addition to that glowy lit from within look. Everything coming together, my skin is looking so good from having used this. I'm super super impressed and really on board with this."
The Best Skincare of 2024!
"This actually uses a vegan PDRN that is sourced from ginseng, and here in the essence they're actually using 10% of ginseng PDRN. Even if you aren't totally into the PDRN part of it, this is actually just a good quality ginseng essence in my personal opinion, or a serum quite honestly, that's how I use it like a serum because it is quite concentrated. It brings out that vital glow to my skin but it also plumps and firms the skin, it actually firms the skin. It's great for well-aging, it helps with skin elasticity and PDRN helps with skin rejuvenation and skin healing as well, and helps with some collagen stimulation. This is something that would be great right alongside a tretinoin or retinoid routine. It can be used in the same routine. I like to use this on the nights that I'm not using my retinol just to keep things simple, not because you can't combine them but just to keep things simple for myself, just to kind of keep up those well-aging benefits. It's a great sidekick to some of your more potent actives. I think it has a place in a well-aging routine and this is quite moisturizing. I was actually really surprised by how moisturizing and rich this product is, but I do think it's worth it if you're looking maybe for firmer skin or if you're into ginseng."
7 Things that Happened to my Skin Using PDRN | AD ft. VT
"I've been really excited about the VT PDRN Essence 100 Elasticity and Wrinkle Care. I've been talking about this a lot in a lot of my skincare routines because this is truly like a daily driver for me when it comes to getting PDRN into my routines on a daily basis. This contains 10% of wild ginseng PDRN so it's a really good concentrated amount and there's no riles in this bottle. I'm going in with the essence on a daily basis because it is still moisturizing. I do like to have a little base layer of hydration on my skin before I apply it so you can go in with any type of mist or toner that you like."
My Top 5 Serums | 2025 Edition
"I started using this towards the middle of 2024 but it just never left my skincare routine. I emptied a bottle and now I'm starting up on my second bottle and this is just so so so good. It's just so amazing at supporting skin health. I'm really starting to refocus my energy on skin health, skin luminosity, skin brightness, that lit from within, glowing from within right. And that really starts at cellular levels, it starts at the health of your skin, it starts with all the little things that help to feed the health of your skin that longterm make your skin just look healthy and dewy."
Best SKINCARE I EMPTIED in 2025!!
"It is really pricey, but it also lasts a really long time. I've had bottles last five to six months. A little bit goes a long way, and I think it's awesome. I really like the PDRN line from VT. They do use plant-based PDRN derived from Jins Singh and I do think that the Jins Singh is what's giving this product probably the majority of the edge here. My skin just really responds well to Jins Singh itself and it has for many many years in other products as well. Really brings out a healthy vitality to the skin. It really reduces redness, inflammation. It's a strong antioxidant, very protective for the skin. It promotes skin elasticity. The PDRN component in here, I know, does it work? Does it not work? I don't know. But I love this product quite honestly. Everything I just said, Jins Singh does, this product delivers. Plus some. Definitely helps to firm up the skin. That's what I've noticed using this like for over a year now. Definitely some firmness and bounciness to the skin. It has a very dense moisturizing type of texture. This is not a watery essence. It's almost more like a thick serum. Very creamy, very moisturizing. Not going to be suitable for all skin types. But my skin, especially in cold weather, loves this."

"I saw that they have an Essence version without the RLEs. I use this morning and night time, I don't have to worry about that, so I can keep getting constant consistent PDRN into my skincare routine without the needles, without the RLEs. That's kind of what I noticed with this is just a more rejuvenated look to my skin. I feel like I've made some really good progress with my skin over the last couple of months and this is just taking it like that next little inch and that next little baby step forward. It's really adding to my overall routine with all my actives. This is not an aggressive product so I can use this morning and night time. It pairs with retinoids, it pairs with all different types of ingredients, it's just easy. It's also creamy and moisturizing in texture too, so it's perfect for the colder weather."
Brrr.... Serums for Cold Weather 🥶
"It's derived from wild ginseng, so because it's derived from ginseng we do also have some additional benefits for antioxidant protection. It's also an anti-inflammatory ingredient that is a really good ingredient for supporting skin elasticity. That's really the biggest benefits I've noticed using this serum is that my skin does seem firmer and it also just seems so glowy and so healthy and so rejuvenated. That's really a word that I like to use when describing this particular product is it really does rejuvenate the skin. It really gives you that glow up, which I really appreciate in this really moisturizing texture. It is creamy, it's actually very thick, it actually feels pretty rich on the skin. I would recommend if you're not already using a lightweight toner essence or maybe even just like a hydrating mist product before your serum, I would suggest trying that out if you are going to use this product just because it is on its own, the creaminess of it can feel like it doesn't spread quite as well. But if you have a nice hydrated base underneath, if your skin is just a little damp, not soaking wet but damp, it actually accepts it so much better. It gets deeper into the skin and that's what we want for the benefits. It actually just creates this really beautiful moisturizing nourishing creamy serum that sinks into the skin and damp skin really beautifully. Your skin is going to glow, it's going to feel really firm and plump."
My Ride-or-Die K-Beauty Skincare in 2025!
"This is a really great, very thick, very moisturizing, very traditional cream textured type of essence or quite honestly for me it feels like a serum. This uses 10% of PDRN derived from wild ginseng. And I think that that is the secret sauce to why I like this so much. Especially from VT because ginseng is such an amazing ingredient. Ginseng is amazing for skin elasticity first and foremost. It is often used in well-aging formulas because it is so amazing for taking care of your skin for well-aging, for helping with skin elasticity, skin firmness, skin vitality, the glowiness of your skin. Ginseng increases skin circulation."
PDRN Skincare That ACTUALLY Works! | 2025 Update
"The PDRN from VT this essence took me to glowing skin, not just clear skin. Reducing redness, helping to bring out that healthy lit from within complexion, feeding the skin barrier, keeping it nice and strong. The texture of this for my skin type, keeping a lot of moisture into my skin, keeping my skin protected from cold, harsh elements, especially in the winter time. It's made your skin look more youthful. It's made your skin look rejuvenated. It gives your skin a spa day feeling. It just makes your skin go like ah fresh faced. That's the best way to describe it. Rejuvenated for sure, youthful for sure, but that fresh faced."

"I love this because it gives the skin a water glow effect. So it leaves a finish that is so glossy and reflective. This has 10% of the sodium DNA alongside their vegan PDRN which is of course ginseng root. There's also five different types of ceramides as well as vitamin B5. The texture is milky and it's not your typical texture. In fact, it's a little hard to describe, but while you're applying it on your skin, there's a little bit of a grippy, skin gripping effect. I mean, it smooths out, but it's almost as though you're putting a light top coat. And this kind of shellacs all the flaky skin down."

"It can help stimulate collagen skin cell regeneration and boost skin elasticity and works like a humectant to plump out fine lines or wrinkles. There's also peptide complex for the barrier, polyglutamic acid, a great humectant that adds this nice radiance and glow, and squalane to help provide moisture. It's a little bit thicker than what you'd expect from an essence. I have an oily T-zone and dry cheeks and it's been really nice so far. You'd use this before you use the sheet mask, so you put this straight on after the essence to maximize the benefits. A lot of people have been using these for months and months say that this is a must-have with the essence line."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Source: DermNet

Ceramides

Ceramides are part of the skin's own barrier, and moisturisers built around them have evidence for holding water in and settling the tightness and flaking that come with a damaged barrier.

Source: DermNet

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.
