What the gurus are saying

A balanced blend of glycolic acid, niacinamide, and tranexamic acid earns praise for delivering multiple anti-aging benefits in one lightweight formula. The gurus who reviewed it love how the ingredients work together to target fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and dullness without feeling heavy, and note it pairs well with retinol in a morning or evening routine. The main trade-off is the price, which sits a bit higher than some glycolic acid serums, though the comprehensive ingredient list justifies it for those tackling multiple aging concerns at once.

"It's a really nice formulation if you've got if you want to be using some vitamin C but you've got pigmentation and also with niacinamide it's not going to damage your skin barrier so even with darker skin types like me because niacinamide is so high up on the list I wouldn't need to worry so much about the glycolic acid causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation so all around a nice product and it feels really nice too actually so layering maybe the hyaluronic acid first and then using that might be a nice way of utilizing the moisturizing properties of the hyaluronic acid and then still treating your pigmentation at the same time which is pretty cool."

"I love this serum, it's beautifully packaged, is watery, elegant, lightweight, fast absorbing. It's also fragrance-free. Ingredient-wise it contains niacinamide, glycolic acid, tranexamic acid, along with vitamin C derivative and rice protein, and also Vichy's volcanic water. All of these ingredients are really going to be helpful in targeting concerns of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, whether that is from melasma, excessive sun damage, or even acne, but also at the same time helping to improve dullness and that uneven skin texture and skin tone. I really love this serum for anyone that is interested in combating basically signs of skin aging and dullness, and it's a great one to incorporate into morning and or evening routine and can work synergistically with topical retinol to combat skin aging concerns."

"This is the Vichy Lift Activ line and I really love the lift activ line in particular from them. This is their B3 serum. B3 is niacinamide and it's an amazing supporting ingredient, but it also has glycolic acid here and then also tranexamic acid. I find this product to be very, very, very balanced and this whole line from them is just very simple, straightforward, minimalistic ingredient lists that are all thoughtful and complimentary. This one is fragrance free and it just sits nicely on the skin, it feels great. It's a little more expensive, but I think it's a pretty comprehensive glycolic acid product. It's actually delivering more than just glycolic acid, so a little bit pricier, but it's got glycolic acid, niacinamide, and tranexamic acid which has been shown to help with pigmentation and maybe even help a little bit with redness as well. So pretty comprehensive product to add to your routine."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Vitamin C

Topical vitamin C is an antioxidant with reasonable evidence for dullness and uneven tone. It breaks down in light and air, so how a product is formulated and packaged matters as much as the percentage on the front.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide has evidence behind it for redness, uneven tone and supporting the skin barrier, and it is usually well tolerated even by skin that reacts to most things.

Alpha hydroxy acids

Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the bonds holding dead cells at the surface. The evidence supports smoother texture and more even tone over time, and they can leave skin more sensitive to sun.
