What the gurus are saying

The gurus who reviewed it praise this shampoo for tackling harder-to-control dandruff thanks to its selenium sulfide and salicylic acid combination, which work together to kill the yeast behind flaking and help exfoliate the scalp. One expert notes the selenium sulfide concentration here is potent enough that people with moderate dandruff can use it regularly without drying out their hair, and studies suggest it may even support hair regrowth. Those with dry hair and an oily scalp, or anyone frustrated with dandruff that keeps coming back, may find it worth trying on a regular basis.

"One of my favorite shampoos that were released last year, Vichy Dercos. That shampoo has selenium sulfide and salicylic acid. I will use it on my scalp, but I also will wash my face with that as well."

"If you really want to step it up, you can always go with Vichy's Dercos shampoo. I love that one because it has selenium sulfide plus salicylic acid. So if you're having itch plus scale, the salicylic acid will help exfoliate the scalp."

"If you have dandruff that is another contributor of oxidative stress. You definitely want to make sure you're using anti-dandruff shampoo that contains like zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole for example like Vichy Dercos from Vichy. You want to use that regularly to help with reducing dandruff and the inflammation that contributes to oxidative stress. In fact studies have shown that anti-dandruff shampoos alone whether you have dandruff or not can support hair regrowth, namely zinc pyrithione and ketoconazole."

"I really love this for those that have a little bit more harder to control dandruff. The difference between this one and the other two is if you have more severe dandruff and want something a little extra because the ingredients is different. It contains 1% selenium disulfide and when you look at East Asian ingredients, selenium disulfide is much stronger and more effective at killing off the malassezia yeast, and also contains salicylic acid and glycerin. I love this one because for those that do have harder to control dandruff you can use it on a regular basis to treat your dandruff but also minimizes relapse for up to six weeks and at the same time does not dry out your hair. Highly recommend this one if you have dry hair, oily scalp, or more moderate dandruff to use on a regular basis for better control."
