What the gurus are saying

The eucalyptus and clove leaf oils in this balm give it a strong minty, spa-like scent that divides people sharply. Most gurus praise how well it removes makeup and SPF without leaving residue, and love the price point and travel-friendly size, but those sensitive to fragrance or eye area irritation may find the scent uncomfortable. A second cleanse can help if any balm residue remains on skin.

"My first recommendation for a double cleanse is the Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm, it's absolutely perfect. It's an affordable balm that transforms into this silky creamy texture. It removes your makeup and SPF, rinses completely clean without leaving any residue. The nourishing oils help keep your skin balanced and comfortable. It does have a little bit of a scent, it has eucalyptus and clove leaf oils that provide that refreshing spa-like scent. The key ingredients in the original formula are the eucalyptus oil, the clove leaf oil, and the vitamin E."

Save vs Splurge: Dermatologist-Approved Skincare Picks That Are Actually Worth It
"For the save category, I love the Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm. I have used this, I've liked it. It doesn't give me that spa feeling, but for the price it does a really good job. It's only $18 for a 67 ml jar, which is about 27 cents per ml, a huge price difference. It's a really affordable balm that transforms into this silky oil texture. It removes all your makeup, all your SPF, all the junk from your face. It rinses really clean, it doesn't leave any residue. It may be a little bit more irritating to the eyes, or maybe that's just my eyes because they're sensitive, I have ocular rosacea, so you kind of have to try it for yourself. But it still has those nourishing oils to help keep the skin balanced and comfortable. It also has a little bit of eucalyptus and clove leaf oils that provide a refreshing, almost spa-like scent. The key ingredients here are the eucalyptus oil, clove leaf oil, vitamin E, and avocado oil. It doesn't quite have the same luxurious feeling or depth of fragrance, but it still does the job. It cleans thoroughly, it's a gentle cleanse, and it's a fraction of the cost. It's perfect if you want a cleanse and bump but you don't want to spend a lot of money."

"The fragrance was unpleasant. One of the reasons I like using cleansing oils so much is for eye makeup removal. So if it makes it uncomfortable, then yeah, it's a no-go. Don't buy this. Whatever you do, don't buy unless you like putting Vix Vapo Rub in your eye. Do not buy the Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm with vitamin E and eucalyptus. This was misery to use. You can really ruin it from an experiential part of things."

"I need to try this cleansing balm from Versed because that other one I'm still suffering through, the one that's like putting Vick's VapoRub on your face. I do not like that."

"Finally finished the Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm. No, absolutely not. Worst cleansing balm experience yet. Do you like Vicks VapoRub? Yeah, I do too. Do you want it in your eye? I didn't think so."

"I've always wanted to try the cleansing balm but I have not tried it yet. I've tried tons of cleansing balms why I've not tried that one I do not know."

"The Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm is a nice cleansing balm, but one that both blurs my vision a little and doesn't rinse completely clean, meaning you will need a second cleanse to go with it. It smells strongly like eucalyptus, which always reminded me of the cough remedy of my youth. I liked it, but have others I love."

"The Versed has a cleansing balm in a pink container. I don't love that one as much as their green balm, but it certainly works. Both of these are very gentle and I think they're fragrance free."

"Versed is a brand that I haven't tried many products from but their mask exfoliator that beautiful Doctors Day visit that is something I absolutely love and the good part is that this Versed cleansing balm comes in two sizes"

"One of my all-time favorite cleansing balms for double cleansing and removing makeup from the face is the Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm. This is a jumbo size of it, which I think is new, and the jumbo size makes this even more affordable."

"If you are using a lot of foundation or heavy makeup that day I do recommend doing an oil-based cleanse first to remove all that makeup. The Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm comes as a very lightweight little jar so I like using it for travel and it is very affordable at less than $20. This one contains all sorts of antioxidants like vitamin E, jojoba oil, eucalyptus oil, avocado oil and clove leaf oil and all of that helps to keep the skin moisturized. It does have a slight refreshing scent almost like a minty smell so if you don't like that you may not want to use this product, but I like using this product. It feels really luxurious and just nice, almost like a little massage at the end of the day to remove all of my makeup before prepping my skin for the next cleanse."

"This is a cleansing balm by Versed. Basically a balm cleanser is just to remove those traces of makeup and sunscreen that you might have built up. This one has eucalyptus oil, which maybe is irritating for some, and vitamin E, which is a great antioxidant. But basically the focus of a cleansing balm is really just to get that makeup off, cleanse your skin, dissolve that sunscreen, and give your skin a thorough cleaning and remove any buildup from makeup."

"The Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm retails for $17.99 and is a great, really affordable cleansing balm that lasts many months because you only need a little bit. A little bit goes a long way at being able to remove sunscreen, makeup, and impurities. I love the fact that this cleansing balm leaves minimal greasy residue. You can even use it in the morning as your cleanser if you choose to, but I use it as the first step of my double cleansing routine. My skin feels nourished, it doesn't feel stripped, but yet it's able to effectively remove everything. This contains vitamin E and lots of great plant-derived oils. It's effective and it's simple. Versed's products are devoid of synthetic fragrance, so that's another thing I really love about it. If you have more sensitive and rosacea-prone skin, this is a line that I find most of their products to be fairly suitable for."

"I've been using the Verse Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm the most lately and I really like it. It's pretty affordable as well. There is a scent to it, it's very mild but there is something there. This does a very good job to remove water resistant sunscreens, makeup, waterproof mascara. It does it all and I really like it."

"The Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm works pretty much the same as the pharmacy option, but it does have fragrance, and sometimes when I've rinsed my face off I do feel like my skin has a little bit of a residue left over from the cleansing balm itself. That's why I said to go in with that second cleanse to remove any residue that is left over from your cleansing balm. I like the pharmacy one a little bit more than the Versed, but if you want something that is more affordable and something that you can easily get at the drugstore, then the Versed is a really great option to look into."
