It's the ingredients, because a lot of shampoos have harsher detergents in them, and this uses all the mildest detergents so they don't strip your hair or dry it out. If the other one is a little too spendy, I do have a dupe, it's the Verb Ghost Shampoo and Conditioner. They have it on sale for $39 for the shampoo plus the conditioner, plus they have their heat protectant oil, though I haven't tried the heat protectant oil so I can't speak to that. These are really good and the ingredients in here are very very similar to the Oribe.
