What the gurus are saying

Gurus love the sensory experience and beach-vacation aesthetic, but the product divides sharply on performance and skin compatibility. The whipped formula requires a thicker application than typical sunscreens, and several reviewers question whether the aerated texture makes it hard to judge adequate coverage. Common complaints include eye irritation during water activities, stickiness, breakouts triggered by coconut or fragrance, and inadequate protection for sensitive or acne-prone skin. It's best suited for casual beach days with non-sensitive skin; less ideal for active water sports or fragrance-sensitive users.

"The Vacation Classic Whip SPF 30 to me is the better product. For the price though, it's $22, and honestly, the Vacation to me is the better product, but at that price point versus alternatives, it comes down to your budget."

"A classic combination of chemical filters does give you broad spectrum protection. Two finger lengths of this whipped sunscreen is probably not the same as two finger lengths of liquid sunscreen, so use your best guess as to when you have enough. I love the smell of this sunscreen. I would say it's kind of like a vanilla bean of sorts. It just smells like the beach but with some coconut. It smells absolutely delicious, and you'll never hear me say that about a sunscreen product ever again."

"It smells phenomenally, but if you have eczema or you are sensitive to fragrances, not for you. If you love an experience, I would have to say this is 10 out of 10 on experience. My first outing with the sunscreen I hated it because I used it before surfing and I found that this sunscreen was extremely irritating when it got in my eyes. So if you're going to be running, sweating, maybe in the water and active, not a sensitive skin, sensitive eyeball sunscreen. Not gentle at all. But from the experience standpoint, this will probably elevate your beach trip and create some nostalgia to go along with whatever adventure you're having."

"You're going to have to wear more than you would normally wear of your regular sunscreens, get a nice thick layer. It smells phenomenally. "When you rub it in there's so much air in there I don't actually know if I'm covering my body enough and I think that did lead to me getting a little bit pinker than I wanted. I didn't feel like this protected me as well and I don't know if it's the formula, if it's an SPF 30 or if it's the fact that it's aerated so I couldn't figure out how much to apply to my skin. This would be one of my absolute favorite sunscreens if it didn't break anything out, but if you're sensitive to coconut this has coconut in it and if you're acne prone, fragrance sensitive, stay away. If you want to have fun with your sunscreen, if you're going to a bachelorette party or beach vacation or if you're trying to have fun with your routine, you're sick and tired of the same old grubby lotions, you have kids you want to get them excited about using sunscreen, this is so fun as a use case. It does kind of make me a little bit sticky. I think it's the coconut oil in here. I wanted to love it and I do love certain aspects, but I don't think it was perfect for my body."
