What the gurus are saying

This product faces serious credibility issues. Multiple reviewers found it tested at SPF 4 despite claiming SPF 50+, raising questions about formula integrity or batch quality that the brand's response did not adequately address. One reviewer appreciated the hydrating cream texture but noted it leaves a white cast and can cause peeling depending on skin care compatibility. The testing failure is the dominant concern.

"Ultraviolet was shown that their mineral sunscreen had like four to seven SPF protection as opposed to like the 50th states. This one used 22.5% zinc oxide as its filter. So keep that in mind."

"If a sunscreen claims to be SPF 50 plus and tests as an SPF 4, that's not good. There's no amount of well it was decanted for a brief period of time that really makes that amount of difference. And that was the same for all of the sunscreens and it didn't impact any of the other sunscreens to that extent. There was clearly a problem. Now it might be a problem with that batch, it might be a problem with the whole formula. I don't personally buy into this narrative that you should blindly believe what the brand are saying because they came out and just said there's nothing wrong with our product, keep buying it. Well any brand would say that, wouldn't they? So I think it's a shame that Ultraviolet didn't respond better. Personally I'm moving away from that particular sunscreen, but I like the other formulas for that Ultraviolet brand. That's fine. Doesn't mean all of their products are a fail, just that one I probably wouldn't use."

"This is the Ultraviolet Mineral Sunscreen, an all mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide. It's a cream formula, but unfortunately it does leave a white cast, so I have to put a little bit of tinted moisturizer over this to get it to work. It's a creamy formula. It's really nice. It's really hydrating. I've also found that sometimes depending on the skin care that I'm using that day, it ends up peeling. So I've had trouble kind of getting through this."
