What the gurus are saying

Gurus praise the sunscreen's elegant texture and pleasant application, but opinions split sharply on its compatibility with makeup. One reviewer finds it performs beautifully as a standalone product on dry skin, with a dewy finish best finished with powder. The other reports significant makeup breakdown after four hours when worn underneath, with foundation settling into wrinkles and concealer wearing off faster than normal. The tint reads too dark on very pale complexions.

"As a sunscreen, I give this a five out of five. It is perfection. As a standalone sunscreen under makeup, I give it just two out of five. It drastically shortened the wear time of the makeup. At the 4-hour check-in, it still looked fine from a distance, but up close, it settled into wrinkles. It was being weird by my eyebrows, and my under eye concealer was much more worn off than normal. At the 8-hour check-in, the makeup was almost completely worn off."

"The Ultraviolet Future Screen SPF 50 is an Australian-based sunscreen company that just recently launched in the United States. You can find it in Sephoras. They call this a modern mineral sunscreen. It's SPF 50. It is just an absolute delight to apply it. This is very slightly tinted. If you have super pale skin, the tint is going to be too dark. But if you are paler than me or my tone, it's going to be just fine. It's incredibly liquidy, so you have to be careful when you take it out of the bottle cuz you could make a mess real quick. And then as you're applying it, it feels almost like a face oil with some slip to it. It feels nice. It feels nourishing. And then when you get it totally distributed, it is quite dewy, quite shiny on the skin. As someone who has dry skin, I don't really mind that. It makes my skin look healthy and glowy. And I will take a little bit of translucent setting powder and just kind of blot it down. If you were going to try to wear this with zero powder, zero makeup, it's not going to be everyone's look. You're going to look a little sweaty. But if you feel comfortable with makeup and sort of manipulating your sunscreen by blotting down some of the sheen with powder, I think this is a really nice product."
