What the gurus are saying

This oil earns consistent praise for sinking in quickly without feeling greasy, leaving skin visibly hydrated and plump, and working beautifully as a final step to lock in other products overnight. The key thing to know: apply it last in your routine, after serums and actives, because layering it first can create a barrier that blocks those earlier ingredients from penetrating deeply. Best used as an evening occlusive, especially in cooler months or alongside drying treatments like retinoids.

"Often in the drier months I tend to use a facial oil. I'll either use the one that I'm currently using from True Botanicals or a few drops of castor oil. I found it to be a great addition to my evening skincare routine. I usually let all my skin care soak in for at least a couple hours and I put it on right before I go to bed, a few drops, just swish it in my hands, super light layer, and just pat it on. I've also been using it on my hands and my feet just to soften the skin. It is actually quite amazing the difference."

Should You Change Your FALL & WINTER ANTI-AGING SKINCARE ROUTINE?
"I'm currently using the True Botanicals Pure Radiance Oil, love this. This sits by my bed so I do my skincare routine, let it all soak in, and then right before I go to bed I pat this in. This is soaked in and gives me a nice occlusive barrier so my skin can heal and regenerate over the nighttime. It's the perfect step for sealing in all your skincare and nourishing your skin overnight so you wake up with hydrated gorgeous skin, especially in the winter months. Two drops of a facial oil is really all you need."

"At the very end of my evening routine I always use a facial oil in the cooler months and this is the True Botanicals Pure Radiance Oil. This is divine. I keep a facial oil by my bed in the cooler months and I do it right before I go to bed. My skincare is already soaked in and it just locks it in before I go to sleep, and I wake up with gorgeous, hydrated skin and not all those dry flakies that I typically get when I'm using a retinoid, especially in the winter and fall months."

"For me, sometimes only an oil will do the job. I have been using this longer than I have had this channel. All my besties use it, and it's always been sort of glow in a bottle. It smells amazing. I had the flu over the Thanksgiving weekend and I was down for the count. The only thing that I got out of bed to do, and we're talking 4 days, was this very routine. I didn't shower, I barely ate, but I did get up every evening to do this routine. So at least my skin was sort of cared for."

"True Botanicals is a brand that I have actually used long before I started this channel, and in particular one hero product which is the Pure Radiance Oil. I think I've been using this for about five years because my friend Leslee introduced me to it. In fact, it's the only thing I have on my face right now is the True Botanicals oil. I also adore the Chibola serum, which is an antioxidant serum, super potent. It's just so beautiful. I love True Botanicals. They're based in Northern California."
🛍️ From PR to Impulse Buys — ALL the Goodies!
"This is so much more than just an oil. It's nutrient rich, powered by omega fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins that really help to replenish and restore skin. It makes my skin so incredibly soft, so hydrated, and it just gives this incredible radiance. For years, this is what I used as a moisturizer. I would only use my serums and put this on and I was done. When I was on this trip to the US, my face started to really act up. It was red. It was irritated. I think it was a new cleanser that was the culprit. So I stopped everything except this and sunscreen. And that's all I wore. And I'm telling you, this stuff is gold dust."

"Next in the duh category is the Pure Radiance Oil by True Botanicals. This is the most exquisite oil I have ever used. In fact, I've used it far longer than I have had this channel. My best girlfriends at home all use it. I cannot say enough good things about this product."
🌟 My Top 5 Skincare Brands + Their Top 2 Products 🌟
"My number one Holy Grail product from True Botanicals is the Pure Radiance Oil. I cannot express how much I love this product or how many of these jars I have recycled over the years. I have been using this oil for way longer than I've had this channel. It is not a standard oil; it is a blend of omega-3 fatty acids, it has 14 seed oils, it has an algae extract, it has alanin which helps to deliver a very hydrated, visibly plump and natural looking skin. I know that oils make a lot of people nervous, but it does not clog your pores because it's the smaller molecular profile. It just sinks into your skin and it's kind of gone. It's not oily. You only need a few drops, you just press it into the skin, and this is glow in a bottle."

I mean way longer than I've had this channel. In fact all my girlfriends at home use it. Like she's an Old Faithful. She's multitasking and my mature skin loves her more than water. I mean my skin just drinks it up."

"For years, True Botanicals has been my go-to. I love it, but it does have its drawbacks."

"It's their popular Pure Radiance Oil. It's $120, which does not surprise me, True Botanicals is a more luxury brand. [...] This oil specifically has a ton of natural extracts like green tea, avocado oil, marula oil. It's really packed with a bunch of really beneficial natural extracts and seed oils. Here's my issue though: starting off your skincare routine with a face oil can be counterproductive to the rest of the products that you're going to be using in your routine because what they essentially do is create a seal over top of the skin to make sure that you're withholding any hydration that your skin already has and preventing any water in your skin from escaping. But if you're wanting to use like exfoliating ingredients or hydrating ingredients, with the barrier that a face oil puts on your skin it's going to make it more difficult for those ingredients to be able to deeply penetrate your skin and for you to get the full benefit of whatever active skin ingredients you're using, which is why usually face oils are best to apply as the last step of your skincare routine."

"I'm always a little bit hesitant about oils because I feel like it's just better to use a moisturizer but like she said she does have dry skin and that's typically who oils are really meant for so I'm not mad at it."

"She has combination skin that is acne prone, so the fact that she likes this oil probably means that it's not going to have that greasy feeling for most people. It is a hundred and ten dollars, but I know why she likes it because it has jojoba which we love, one of my favorite oils. Yes, it is amazing. We have safflower, we have hemp, pumpkin, argon, grape, sunflower, barrage, avocado, all of the seed oils including raspberry, cranberry, sandalwood for scent, watermelon. This actually looks really good. It does have some fragrancing oils, we do specifically have cypress oil, we do have rosemary, some other things, we do have red algae in here. I actually think this one is kind of worth it. Is it expensive? Yes. Do you need it? No. Is it gonna clear your acne? No. But it is hard to find algae in some products, specifically red algae. This product has it. I would say it's more of an antioxidant boost, can have some anti-aging, some brightening properties, really great as an antioxidant. You know, is this going to clear your acne? No. It's probably good for acne prone skin because of the jojoba or it's safer for acne prone skin. You shouldn't be spending a paycheck on it. Like if you're struggling, there are many other oils that are great."

Reacting to Brooke Shields' Suspicious Skincare Routine... Esthetician Reacts
"This is an algae oil for 110 dollars. Do you need it in your routine? No. Should you be spending 110 on an oil? No, I am not endorsing that. However, if you have the money and you're looking for an algae product, algae products are expensive but they are good. Algae is not a plant nor is it an animal; it is wonderful and an amazing organism. Yes, it can help with brightness of the skin and there are some studies showing firmness of the skin. But you have to know that you like whatever this smell is and you have to know that you like skincare oils in order to do that. I think it's a little bit ridiculous for the price."

What the evidence says.

Independent of what the gurus think, this is what the published research supports about the main active ingredients here.

Humectants and emollients

Ingredients like these draw water into the surface layers and slow how fast it leaves. The evidence is for comfort, softness and hydration rather than for changing the structure of the skin.

Source: DermNet

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and it is often in a formula to keep the other ingredients stable rather than as the active itself. It pairs well with vitamin C, though on its own the evidence for visible change is limited.
