What the gurus are saying

Dermatologists and beauty experts overwhelmingly praise Triple Paste as an effective occlusive treatment for compromised skin barriers, inflammation, and severe dryness, using it off-label on their faces despite its thick white cast. The consensus strength lies in its zinc oxide content and petrolatum base, which work together to heal and protect irritated skin. The main trade-off is cosmetic elegance: the visible white residue is a genuine drawback for daytime use, though one formulation now offers a sheer zinc version. Caution applies to acne-prone skin and humid climates where the heavy occlusive texture may worsen conditions.

"Triple Paste Diaper Rash Cream is more of a thicker zinc based cream that acts as a protective barrier to prevent moisture irritation while promoting healing. It's soothing because of the nonnano zinc oxide which calms inflammation and oat extract which helps reduce redness and sensitivity. The glycerin and beeswax in here also add a little nourishing effect while keeping the formula rather breathable."

"I actually use something called Triple Paste and it's really great for long flights or when my skin is irritated, like after injections when you want grease. I think Triple Paste has a different preservative system than Sudocrem."

"I use a zinc oxide based cream, you guessed it a diaper rash cream all over my face. Zinc oxide is gold, it will help repair your face and heal your skin while locking in hydration, and when I wake up the next morning my face is as soft and smooth as my baby's butt. If you've got really dry irritated skin, zinc oxide which is the main component in Triple Paste is a good occlusive and it can help to improve that dryness, that real irritated, unhappy type of skin that you may have. However, the group of people who should exercise caution with this face basting is if you've got acne issues, this can potentially worsen them in the wrong patient."

"Triple Paste is really good if you get rashes and the skin folds or chafing. The zinc is anti-inflammatory and it protects the skin. It also has petrolatum which is a skin protectant, lanoline, visol which is anti-inflammatory, and oak kernel extract. Glycerin is hydrating. There are a lot of hidden gems in here."

"My favorite one, which is Triple Paste. And this is one that I've used on my baby's butts, and I apply it literally all over my face, minus my nose, and it's going to help to calm an inflamed skin barrier. My skin is a little extra sensitive, so I'm going to be generous with this stuff."

"I like to use a diaper rash cream because diaper rash creams are rich in zinc oxide and they help to reduce inflammation. Triple Paste is one of my favorite ones and I don't mind looking like a pale ghost when I go to bed but a lot of people have told me they don't love that so they recently came out with a sheer zinc one that rubs in clear. Very honestly I don't enjoy the experience as much when it is sheer but to each their own."
Dermatologist’s Hack to Repair a Dry Inflamed Skin Barrier! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"I tried the other butt paste creams and I felt this one was the best one. It is 12% zinc oxide and it also has oat kernel extracts in it. There's a little bit of corn starch which sounds counterintuitive if you're trying to lock in moisture, but it actually works to your benefits. It's a giant tub for like 27 or 30 bucks, or you can also buy it in a tube for $10."

"I'm obsessed with Triple Paste. I was obsessed and it was on my list, and honestly it's the only sponsorship for a skincare company that I ever jumped on. I said yes because I am obsessed and because I thought it was funny that it's a butt paste company. But the fact that this stuff is so good and great for your face, for your skin barrier, you're going to look like a ghost, it's not cosmetically elegant, but it does the job. I love it. If you have a baby I think try it out, but just definitely do not double dip. Do not use the jar that you've used on your baby's butt because that might be contaminated. Just get a squeezy tube for your own face."
Top 8 Ingredients to Treat Redness & Rosacea from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Triple Paste, zinc oxide is a beautiful ingredient. It has anti-inflammatory effects. When a kid has a rash down there, you slap this all over their little tushies in a gentle way in order to minimize their rash, to calm the inflammation down so they have less friction on their privates. When it comes to your face, if you have an inflamed skin barrier and you're trying to restore your barrier, zinc oxide can really help restore that barrier. And when it comes in the form of a diaper rash cream, when it's married to petrolatum, it will help create an occlusive layer while calming any inflammation down, and it works wonders as an overnight mask treatment, especially in a dry climate or in a very cold climate or when the temperatures are changing. Not all diaper rash creams are created equal. Don't go for one with essential oils, definitely don't, and make sure there's no steroid in it because that can make things worse. This is probably my favorite one. I have two kids who are six and four, and this was the one that I used on my kids."
Top Hydrating Moisturizers to Strengthen Your Skin Barrier | Dr. Idriss’ Best Picks for Healthy Skin
"Triple Paste is a great second one to try that doesn't have any of that white residue because there's no zinc in it. It's not going to be as good in terms of an anti-inflammatory perspective but it's going to be great in terms of locking in moisture. If you're somebody who gets flushed but you're not sensitive and you have dry skin, so your skin is always red and you're just trying to cool your skin down while keeping it hydrated and dewy, this is it. It smells like a spa, yes it has fragrance, there is MGA which is a menthol derivative in it and it does actually cool your skin. It's not just the idea that it's cooling your skin, it has been shown to reduce your skin's temperature by 7 degrees so it will cool your skin."

"I love this stuff. I would use it all the time on my babies when they were babies, but I use it when I have any sort of irritation and I also use it in the winter when my face is really dry and inflamed with windburn. Triple Paste has zinc oxide in it to help reduce inflammation, soothe redness, flaking and itchiness. I reserve this once you've reached the other extreme of looking red, flaky and off and you want to restore your skin back to where it was."
Best Skincare Under $25 from a Dermatologist! | Dr. Shereene Idriss
"Triple Paste is an all-time fave. It is not exactly a moisturizer, it is more of an occlusive and it's going to seal the deal. It has zinc oxide in it, zinc oxide has anti-inflammatory benefits. It also gives a white cast. Because it is extremely rich, basically it is petrolatum, it is like Vaseline with zinc oxide, it's going to seal everything in and reduce inflammation. I put on a thick layer 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep at night at the end of my skincare routine, and although I look kind of ghostlike by the time I wake up in the morning it has absorbed and I wash my face normally with water. It's beautiful. I would strongly advise you try this out anywhere from two to four times a week at night. If you live in a humid environment or you're oily, I probably would not do that."

"My diaper rash cream of choice is Triple Paste because I have literally gone through every single diaper rash cream on my kids' tushies and I am telling you this was the best one ever. It would help heal their cracked skin. The way it works is that because it has petroleum jelly plus zinc oxide, which has anti-inflammatory effects, it would help to heal and soothe your skin as well and not just act like an occlusive. Plus, it has a little bit of cornstarch that would wick away extra moisture. So when you are putting this directly on inflamed skin, that can be helpful if you are making sure that you are also using Vaseline underneath or you are making sure that your skin is not completely dehydrated."
